Air Source Heat Pumps across Greater London

About air source heat pumps in Greater London

Until 31 March 2027, a heat pump installed in residential accommodation carries 0% VAT, with 5% from 1 April 2027. This is HMRC’s energy-saving materials relief, which applies to homes rather than businesses. For air-to-air systems, we confirm the VAT on your quote. Please treat this as general information rather than tax advice. Common call-outs are for finding a place for the outdoor unit and choosing between air-to-water and air-to-air, across homes heated by oil, LPG or gas, air-to-water heat pumps and underfloor heating.

The work area is kept tidy throughout, with dust sheets down and offcuts and packaging cleared up. Any holes, fixings or cable routes are agreed with you before we drill. On site, it takes anything from a couple of days for air-to-air to the best part of a week for air-to-water with radiator changes.

  1. It starts with a conversation about the home, the existing heating and your plans.
  2. We survey the home room by room for heat loss, and check the emitters, hot water and outdoor unit position.
  3. The price comes back fixed and in writing, with the grant and VAT shown line by line.
  4. Installation covers the outdoor unit, the indoor connections and the controls.
  5. The system is commissioned and registered under MCS, and we show you how to use it.

Pricing in Greater London

A single unit or a whole estate, we price it on the same basis: what needs doing, how we get to it and what it needs. The price is fixed before we start, with VAT shown clearly.

Getting a quote

Some jobs can be priced from pictures, while others need a survey. Multi-room systems, commercial buildings and anything with a long or hidden pipe route are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before anything goes ahead.

Air source heat pumps across Greater London: local notes

Across Greater London, from London, City of Westminster and Marylebone to the villages, homes range from older houses to new builds, and each needs its own heat pump design. We are MCS certified and apply for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant for you.

Refrigerant work is done by F-gas qualified engineers for a certified company, while NICEIC approval covers the electrical work, in Greater London as everywhere else.

London: If your home is listed, like Mansion House about 1 mile north, listed building consent comes before any heat pump work. Older homes near St George the Martyr may need extra checks for planning and heat loss before a heat pump is designed.

How we price air source heat pumps

Before we fix a price, we need to know a few things. We look at:

  • The type of system, from a single split to a larger system
  • Whether we need access equipment for high-level work
  • The distance and route between the indoor and outdoor units
  • What we find on the survey or diagnosis

The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That is why we look at the job first, from pictures or on a survey, and why the quote is fixed before we start.

What we need to know

Photos and a few facts are often enough to price a simple job. Useful things to send:

  • The paperwork from the last service, if you have it
  • The make and model of the system, from the label
  • A few pictures of the room and the wall the unit is on, or will go on
  • A photo of the consumer unit with the cover closed

To help us quote: where the property is and what kind of building it is, pictures of the rooms or units, the make and model of any existing system and any symptoms, from error codes to drips. Once you have those, ring us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk.

After we’ve gone

Every system needs looking after, and most of it is easy. Our tips:

  • Keep the outdoor unit clear all year
  • Keep the MCS certificate with the manufacturer’s paperwork
  • Know the servicing conditions in your warranty
  • Leave indoor units unobstructed

Should you have questions after the install, ring us on 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form and we’ll talk it through. A yearly service is a good habit.

Have the system serviced regularly. Your manufacturer’s warranty terms may say something about servicing.

Honest limits

A few issues sit outside what this work can do:

  • Getting planning permission or listed building consent on your behalf
  • Insulation work, such as loft or cavity wall insulation
  • Any gas work on the existing boiler

Owner checks or an engineer?

Write down what you notice: an error code, a new noise, a drip, a smell or a change in how well the system heats or cools. It makes our diagnosis quicker, and a photo or a short video of the display is even better.

Good habits make our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and a clear outdoor unit help the system run as it should, but the inside of the units, the refrigerant and the electrics still need a qualified engineer.

Common questions in Greater London

Can we book visits on a schedule?

Yes. Maintenance contracts are part of what we do, with visits at the interval your system and the manufacturer need. Each visit is written up and F-Gas records kept where they apply.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. Homeowners, landlords, agents and businesses all book us across Greater London. Tell us who should receive the paperwork.

Which manufacturers do you install and repair?

We work with the leading brands, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Send us the make and model if you have it.

Do you look at the job first?

Yes. For simple jobs, pictures and a few details can be enough, while bigger systems and repairs that need testing get a visit.

Do you offer emergency call-outs?

Yes, 24/7. Call the emergency line and tell us the make, the symptoms and any error code, and we’ll advise on what to do next.

Can I get the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant?

We check the scheme rules for your property before you go ahead. As the installer, we make the application where you qualify.

Do you work on systems someone else installed?

Yes. We work on systems fitted by other installers as well as our own from all the leading brands. Send us the make and model, and any records you have.
