Our air conditioning service in EC1Y

Single-room systems are typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT, two rooms on a multi-split £2,800–£4,500 + VAT, and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT. Those ranges include supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation, and commercial VRF systems are priced after a survey. The work covers air-to-air heat pumps, multi-split systems and wall-mounted split systems, and the jobs we see most are a loft room or top floor that bakes in summer and a room that’s unbearable on warm days.

Where something has to be switched off during the work, we agree it with you first so it does not catch you out. For businesses, we can normally work room by room or zone by zone. On site, it takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems.

  1. We start by looking at the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.
  2. Cooling loads are worked out room by room, and the written price names the make, the model and every position.
  3. Brackets go on, the units are hung and the refrigerant lines, cable and drain are routed between them.
  4. We connect the supply, pressure test the pipework and evacuate it before the refrigerant is released.
  5. Last comes the run-up: every mode checked, the controls explained and the paperwork left with you.

How to get a quote

The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: the room or the existing unit, the outside wall or roof where the outdoor unit sits or would go, and the label on any existing unit. Add the address and what you’d like done, and simple jobs can often be priced without a visit.

Air conditioning around EC1Y

From Barbican Estate and Bishopsgate outwards, EC1Y has every kind of home. Each install starts with a survey of the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.

EC1Y is within the area we cover from our base in East Grinstead. Each job starts with a survey and a fixed-price quote.

Barbican Estate: Plenty of people near Moorgate station split the week between the train and a spare room, and that spare room is often the first to get a unit. About 0.5 miles south-east stands Mansion House. Listed homes in any area need consent first, so tell us if yours is one.

What affects the cost of air conditioning

The survey or diagnosis tells us what the work involves. We look at:

  • One-off work versus a regular service cycle
  • How far the pipework has to run, and where
  • What state the existing equipment is in
  • The size of the job

A single unit or a whole estate, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the equipment. You’ll have a fixed price before we start, with VAT shown clearly.

Asking for a quote

When you contact us, it’s useful to have:

  • The make and model of the system, from the label
  • Any previous service or F-Gas records
  • Where the property is and what kind of building it is
  • Photos showing the indoor unit and the space around it

Need a price for air conditioning? Please phone us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk and tell us about the job. We will talk you through the options and give you a fixed-price quote before anything is booked.

Leave it or put it right?

Where the outdoor unit goes matters to you and to the neighbours. A good position keeps noise down and leaves room for servicing, and it can make a difference to planning. We agree it with you on the survey.

Questions to ask before booking

  • Whether you get F-Gas records where refrigerant is involved
  • Exactly what the price includes, from supply and fitting to commissioning
  • Whether the manufacturer’s warranty depends on regular servicing
  • Whether the quote is a fixed price

Aftercare tips

After the visit, a few habits help:

  • Avoid setting it far colder than you need
  • Keep the F-Gas records, commissioning details and warranty information together
  • Book an annual service
  • Keep the room closed while it runs

An annual service keeps the system running efficiently, and some manufacturers make regular servicing a condition of their warranty. We can remind you when it’s due if you’d like.

Report drips, noises or error codes early. A drip, a noise or a flashing light is often an early sign of a fault, and early repairs are usually simpler.

For landlords and property managers

Larger air conditioning systems in buildings need more than servicing: systems with an effective rated output over 12 kW need a TM44 inspection by an accredited energy assessor at least every 5 years. We arrange the inspection, get the system ready and put right anything it picks up.

Facilities teams in offices, schools and public buildings book us too across Greater London. Larger buildings can be done in stages to keep disruption down.

Questions from EC1Y

Do you provide F-Gas records?

Yes, on every job. New installations come with commissioning details, F-Gas records and warranty information, while repairs and services get a written note of what was found and done.

Which manufacturers do you install and repair?

We work with the leading brands, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Tell us the make and model and we will take it from there.

Why does F-Gas certification matter?

The law says any company working on equipment containing F gas has to be certified, and each engineer needs the right qualifications too. It means the refrigerant in your system is handled legally.

Will you need to do electrical work?

Usually, yes. The fuse board is checked on the survey, and any electrical work goes on the quote, and our NICEIC approval covers the installation and certificate.

Will you make a mess?

We put dust sheets over floors and furniture near the work first, and the area is kept tidy throughout. Before we leave, we clear up and run through the work with you.

How does the warranty work?

It’s the manufacturer’s, and the terms are theirs. Some brands make regular servicing a condition, so keep your service records.

Is planning permission needed for the outdoor unit?

Not necessarily. On a house, air-to-water heat pumps and, since 2025, air-to-air systems that heat as well as cool can be permitted development if they meet the conditions. Cooling-only units, listed buildings, flats and road-facing spots in conservation areas are where it typically comes up and the survey picks it up. This is general information, not legal advice.
