Air conditioning designed, supplied and installed for your home or business, with a site survey, a fixed-price quote, F-Gas certified engineers and full commissioning.
- From £1,200 + VAT
- Rooms that get too hot to sleep or work in
- A home office or bedroom under the roof that bakes in summer
What air conditioning installation involves
Good air conditioning starts with the right system in the right place. We survey the property first, or work from photos and measurements for simple jobs, then size the system for each room and agree where the indoor and outdoor units go and how the pipework, cable and condensate drain will run. You get a fixed-price quote that covers supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation. We fit wall-mounted splits, multi-split systems, ducted systems, ceiling cassettes and VRF from leading brands including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Most modern systems heat as well as cool. As an F-Gas certified company we handle the refrigerant legally, and as NICEIC approved contractors we can install the electrical supply too. Our guide to what to expect on installation day walks through the visit.
We’re based in East Grinstead and cover London and the South East. We’re an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved, MCS certified for heat pumps and a Checkatrade member.

How it works
- We look at the rooms you want to cool, either on a site survey or from photos and details for simple jobs.
- You get a fixed-price quote that sets out the equipment, the unit positions and what’s included.
- We fit the indoor and outdoor units and run the pipework, cable and condensate drain neatly between them.
- The refrigerant circuit is pressure tested and evacuated, then the system is commissioned and checked in every mode.
- We show you how to use the controls and hand over the F-Gas records, commissioning details and manufacturer’s warranty information.
Sized for the room, not guessed
A unit that is too small runs flat out and never catches up. One that is too big switches on and off and wastes energy. We size each system from the room’s size, glazing, orientation and use, and we explain why we’ve chosen a particular output. Our guide to choosing the right size of air conditioning unit covers the same ground if you want to read up before the survey.
What the price includes
Single-room split systems are typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. A two-room multi-split is typically £2,800–£4,500 + VAT, and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT. Those ranges include supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation. Long pipe runs, difficult access, a new electrical circuit and premium indoor units all affect where your job sits in the range. Commercial VRF and larger systems are priced after a survey.
VAT, planning and warranty
HMRC zero-rates energy-saving materials in homes until 31 March 2027, and says most air conditioning units are air source heat pumps, but each case depends on the facts, so we confirm the VAT on your quote. Planning rules differ for heat pumps and cooling-only units, and listed buildings, conservation areas and flats need extra care. Warranty is the manufacturer’s own, which we explain brand by brand.
Why it’s worth doing now
The best time to plan air conditioning is before the hot weather, not during it. Survey and installation dates fill up once a heatwave arrives, and a rushed choice is often the wrong size or in the wrong place. There is also a tax point for homes: HMRC’s zero rate for energy-saving materials in residential accommodation runs until 31 March 2027, then becomes 5%, and we confirm whether your system qualifies on the quote. Most systems also heat, so a well-chosen unit earns its keep all year round.
What a good quote includes
- A site survey, or clear photos, before the price is fixed
- The make and model of every indoor and outdoor unit, not just “a 3.5 kW unit”
- Pipe runs, electrics, condensate drainage and making good
- Commissioning, a leak test and the F-Gas records
- The manufacturer’s warranty terms for that brand, in writing
- Whether VAT is added, and at what rate
Afterwards
Before we leave, the system is commissioned and tested in cooling and heating, and we show you the controls, the filters and how to clean them. You get the F-Gas records, commissioning details and the manufacturer’s warranty information. Clean the filters every few weeks when the system is in heavy use and keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves and clutter. An annual service keeps it running efficiently, and we can remind you when it’s due.
What customers say
“Excellent service from start to finish. Two wall-mounted units installed in our home. Clean, tidy work: they protected all the floors and left no mess. The systems work brilliantly. Would highly recommend.”
Sarah M., East Grinstead
“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
James T., Crawley, office manager
“Very professional from the initial survey through to installation. The engineer explained everything clearly and the quote was exactly what we paid. Would not hesitate to recommend AirCon Doctor.”

Air conditioning installation: common questions
How much does air conditioning installation cost?
A single-room split system is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. Two rooms on a multi-split are typically £2,800–£4,500 + VAT, and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT. Prices include supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation. Commercial systems are priced after a survey. You get a fixed price before any work starts.
Do I need planning permission for air conditioning?
It depends on the system and the property. Since 2025, air-to-air heat pumps on houses in England can be permitted development if they meet set conditions, including the MCS 020(a) noise check. A cooling-only unit isn’t covered by those rules, so check with your council. Listed buildings, conservation areas and flats have extra limits. Our planning guide explains more. This is general information, not legal advice.
Is there VAT on air conditioning for my home?
HMRC zero-rates the installation of energy-saving materials in homes from 1 May 2023 to 31 March 2027, and air source heat pumps qualify if they are permanently fixed. HMRC says most air conditioning units are air source heat pumps, but whether a product qualifies depends on the facts. We confirm the VAT on your quote. Businesses pay the standard rate. This is general information, not tax advice.
How long does installation take?
A single-room system is usually fitted in a day. Multi-room and ducted systems take longer, depending on the pipe routes and access. We tell you how long your job should take on the quote.
Can air conditioning heat my home as well?
Most modern split systems run as heat pumps, so they can heat as well as cool. The Energy Saving Trust notes that air-to-air heat pumps are sometimes referred to as air conditioning. Our page on air-to-air heat pumps explains when one can replace your main heating.
Which brand should I choose?
We install Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. The right choice depends on the room, how quiet it needs to be, the controls you want and your budget. We recommend models on the survey and explain each manufacturer’s warranty terms.
Do I need a new electrical circuit?
Most systems need their own supply from the consumer unit. Adding a new circuit is notifiable building work under Part P unless it is done by a registered competent person. We are NICEIC approved, so we can install and certify the circuit as part of the job.
What warranty do I get?
The manufacturer’s warranty, on its terms. For example, Daikin’s standard warranty on split air conditioning is 2 years. Terms differ by brand, so we set them out on your quote. Our warranty guide explains what is usually covered.
Do you give a fixed price before you start?
Yes. After a site survey, or from photos for simple jobs, you get a fixed-price quote so you know the cost before any work starts.
How quickly do you reply?
We reply to enquiries the same working day. For a breakdown, there’s a 24/7 emergency line.
