Our accreditations

We’re an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved, MCS certified and a Checkatrade member. Here’s what each one means and why it matters to you.

F-Gas certified company

Most air conditioning and heat pump systems contain fluorinated greenhouse gases, or F gases, as their refrigerant. The law in Great Britain says that companies, including sole traders, working on equipment containing F gas must be certified by an approved body. GOV.UK explains the rules in its guide to certification for companies working on equipment containing F gas. Engineers who handle refrigerant also need their own F-gas qualifications.

For you, this means the people installing, repairing or servicing your system are allowed to handle refrigerant, and that leak checks, top-ups and recovery are recorded properly. If you run a business, those records help you meet your own duties as the equipment operator, including the leak check rules for larger systems. Our certification body and certificate number are available on request.

NICEIC approved

Air conditioning needs power, and a new system usually needs a dedicated circuit. The Planning Portal lists “the installation of a complete new circuit” as notifiable electrical work under the Building Regulations. It can be self-certified by an installer registered with a competent person scheme; otherwise, building control has to be told before work starts and the work inspected.

NICEIC runs one of those schemes. Its Approved Contractor scheme assesses businesses as competent to carry out electrical work to BS 7671, the national wiring standard, with regular assessment visits to keep the approval. For you, it means we can do the electrical side ourselves, certify it and hand you the paperwork, with no separate building control visit to arrange.

MCS certified

MCS is the scheme that certifies installers and products for small-scale renewable technologies, including heat pumps. Its standards cover how systems are designed, installed and commissioned, and every MCS installation is registered and certified.

MCS matters most for money. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant, £7,500 towards an air-to-water or ground source heat pump and £2,500 towards a qualifying air-to-air heat pump, is only available when an MCS certified installer does the work, and the installer applies for it. GOV.UK’s guide to finding a heat pump installer also notes that MCS installers must belong to a consumer protection scheme, such as the Renewable Energy Consumer Code. The permitted development rules for heat pumps also rely on MCS 020(a), which includes a noise check.

Checkatrade member

Checkatrade is a directory of trades. Before approving a business, it runs up to twelve checks, including identity, address, qualifications, county court judgments, company history and financial checks, and it says it keeps checking after a trade joins. Customers can leave reviews on our Checkatrade profile, so you can see what others have said before you get in touch.

What we don’t claim

We install leading brands, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi, but we don’t claim any manufacturer partner level or extended warranty status. The warranty on your system is the manufacturer’s standard cover, which varies by brand and product. For example, Daikin’s standard warranty on split air conditioning is two years, with longer extensions for its Altherma air-to-water heat pumps. We explain the terms for your chosen unit on the quote.
