About air conditioning in E12

We install leading brands, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. The survey ends with a recommendation and the reasons for it, and the manufacturer’s warranty terms are set out on your quote. We’re often asked to deal with portable units that are noisy and barely cope and a loft conversion that’s too warm to use, on VRF systems, ceiling cassettes and air-to-air heat pumps.

You do not need to do much on the day. Someone needs to let us in and show us the units, or where they’re going, and the rest is down to us. At the end, we tidy up and run through the work with you.

  1. You send pictures, or we visit and survey the rooms and outside.
  2. Each room is sized and the unit positions agreed, then you get a fixed-price quote.
  3. We protect the area, then fit both halves of the system.
  4. We run and connect the pipes, cable and drain, then pressure test and evacuate the circuit.
  5. The system is commissioned, the controls explained and the F-Gas records handed over.

How we quote

What you pay reflects the actual work. That is why every job is looked at first, and the price is agreed before work begins.

Why choose AirCon Doctor

  • NICEIC approved electrical contractors
  • An F-Gas certified company, as the law requires
  • 24/7 emergency line for breakdowns
  • MCS certified heat pump installers

How to get a quote

Every quote shows the VAT clearly, and the rate that applies to your job is stated. Homes, businesses and different kinds of work can be treated differently for VAT, so we confirm it on the quote. To get one, call 07833 053749 or send an email.

Local landmarks in Manor Park

Around Manor Park, our work takes us to homes and businesses near Little Ilford School, St Mary's Church and Sir John Heron Primary School and the streets around them. Nearby too are Earl of Essex pub (less than half a mile west), Tyndale Academy (0.9 miles south-west) and Loxford Park (1.1 miles east). For rail, the closest station is Manor Park station, about 0.5 miles west of the centre. A little further out are Redbridge Museum (1 mile north-east) and Barking Community Hospital (2 miles south-east). Not far away are Hollow Pond and Ripple Nature Reserve.

Where we install in E12

In E12, as across England, the same permitted development rules apply: cooling-only units are not covered, listed buildings need consent and conservation areas restrict outdoor units facing a road.

From London flats to coastal homes and country cottages, London and the South East have every kind of property. We are F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved and MCS certified for heat pumps.

Manor Park: Older streets near St Mary's Church may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes. If you commute from Manor Park station and work from home on other days, one wall-mounted unit in the home office is often all that’s needed.

Different systems, different jobs

Offices, shops and commercial rooms

Larger buildings may suit VRF, which runs many indoor units from shared outdoor units. VRF and larger commercial jobs are priced after a survey and the quote sets out the design.

Wall-mounted split systems

For one room, a wall-mounted split is often the simplest answer. One unit inside, one outside, connected by pipework, a cable and a drain, with the route agreed on the survey.

What happens if it’s left?

The best time to plan air conditioning is before the hot weather, not during it. When people buy in a hurry, the unit is often the wrong size or badly placed, which is costly to undo. Booking the survey early gives you time to weigh up the options.

What your quote should include

  • Whether the manufacturer’s warranty depends on regular servicing
  • Which brand and model they’re proposing, and why
  • What happens if the job turns out to be different on the day
  • Whether the electrical work is done by a registered contractor, such as NICEIC approved

What air conditioning cannot fix

A few issues sit outside what this work can do:

  • Building damp that has a structural cause
  • A ventilation problem rather than a temperature problem
  • Problems with a gas boiler or the radiators

How we price air conditioning

The price is fixed before any work begins. It’s based on:

  • How many units are involved
  • Whether it’s a simple split or a larger system
  • Access, including height, roofs and ladders
  • The equipment or parts the job needs

The pipe route, the height of the units and how we reach them all affect the cost. We take each of them into account, and the price is fixed before we start.

What we need to know

A few details help us quote accurately. When you get in touch, it helps to send:

  • A short video of any fault, such as a noise or a flashing light
  • The paperwork from the last service, if you have it
  • The rating plate or label on any existing unit
  • Your consumer unit or fuse board

For a fixed-price quote, call us on 07833 053749 or use the quote form with the address and a few details about the rooms or units involved. Photos help a lot. You’ll hear back from us the same working day.

Questions from E12

Where does the outdoor unit go?

Wall brackets, ground level and flat roofs are all options, chosen for the pipe route, airflow and access. Noise near bedrooms and boundaries is part of the decision, and the position can affect planning.

Do you provide F-Gas records?

Yes. You get a written record of every visit, including F-Gas records for any refrigerant work. File them with the system’s paperwork.

Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?

Whoever operates the equipment, together with the technicians who service it. Systems below 5 tCO2e fall outside the set leak check intervals, while larger ones need checks at least every 12 months, or every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We can tell you which band your system falls into.

Can I use air conditioning to heat a room?

Most of the time, yes. Running as a heat pump, it moves heat in from outside rather than making it from electricity alone. To replace your main heating, there are extra conditions, including for the £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant for air-to-air heat pumps.

Should I choose wall-mounted, ducted or cassette?

The right one depends on how many rooms you want to cool, how much space there is outside and how visible you want the indoor units to be. Ducted systems need a ceiling void or loft, and cassettes need a suspended ceiling and the survey confirms what’s possible.

Will skipping a service affect the warranty?

Check the manufacturer’s terms. Some manufacturers make regular servicing by a qualified engineer a condition of the warranty, so check the terms or ask us. Either way, keep a record of every service.

Do you look at the job first?

Yes. We always look before we price, either on a site survey or from pictures and details for simple jobs. Then you get a fixed-price quote.
