Air conditioning in E7

Our engineers cover all of the E7 postcode district, which takes in Forest Gate, Upton and Upton Park. Every job starts with a site survey and a fixed-price quote.

How air conditioning works in E7

Thinking about air conditioning but not sure where to start? Send a few pictures of the rooms and the outside walls when you give us a ring on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk, and we’ll reply the same working day to arrange a survey or a quote. We are often asked to deal with a study or office that overheats during the day and rooms under the roof that stay hot into the night, on VRF systems, air-to-air heat pumps and ceiling cassettes.

Everything the job needs comes with us, from tools and test equipment to ladders and dust sheets. All we ask is clear access to the units, or to where they’ll go, and to the consumer unit. The visit takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system.

  1. We start by looking at the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.
  2. We size the system for each room, then send a fixed-price quote with the units and where they go.
  3. Brackets go on, the units are hung and the refrigerant lines, cable and drain are routed between them.
  4. Once the electrics are connected, the pipework is tested for leaks and put under vacuum before any refrigerant flows.
  5. Last comes the run-up: every mode checked, the controls explained and the paperwork left with you.

What affects the price in E7

Putting the work off seldom saves money. Small problems, from blocked filters to slow leaks, tend to get worse, and a system working harder than it should costs more to run. If you are unsure, phone us on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier and we’ll give you an honest view and a fixed price.

How to get a quote

Quotes do not take long. Send a few details and pictures, and we reply the same working day. Where a survey is needed, we arrange a time that suits you.

Near you in Forest Gate

Around Forest Gate, our work takes us to homes and businesses near West Ham Park, Forest Gate Community School and Woodgrange Infant School. Also close by are Tyndale Academy (0.6 miles south-east), The Hudson Bay pub (within half a mile south) and A Radical Church (within half a mile south-east). There’s a railway station in Forest Gate itself: Wanstead Park station. Well-known places in the area include Stratford Centre (1.3 miles south-west) and Passmore Edwards Museum (0.9 miles south-west). Not far away are Hollow Pond and Old Ford Island.

Air conditioning across E7

Planning rules are the same across England, E7 included: an air-to-air system that heats as well as cools can be permitted development on a house, but cooling-only units, listed buildings and outdoor units facing a road in conservation areas need more care.

Our area stretches from Greater London through Surrey, Kent and Sussex to Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex, and E7 sits within it. You reach the same people wherever you are in it.

Forest Gate: Around A Radical Church, a quick check of the listing and conservation maps is part of planning any install. Plenty of people near Wanstead Park station split the week between the train and a spare room, and that spare room is often the first to get a unit.

Why deal with it now?

The best time to plan air conditioning is before the hot weather, not during it. When people buy in a hurry, the unit is often the wrong size or badly placed, and that is hard to put right later. A survey now gives time to choose properly.

What your quote should include

  • Who does the electrical work, and whether they can certify it
  • Whether the quote shows VAT clearly
  • Whether they looked at the job before pricing it
  • What the manufacturer’s warranty covers and for how long

System by system

Wall-mounted split systems

For one room, a wall-mounted split is often the simplest answer. One unit inside, one outside, connected by pipework, a cable and a drain, routed as agreed on the survey.

Electrical supply

A dedicated circuit is normally needed. We’re NICEIC approved, so we fit and certify the circuit ourselves and that covers the Part P side.

Why it fails

Rooms overheat mostly because of heat they gain during the day. Sun through large windows, roof lights and glazed doors is the biggest source in many rooms, and once the room has warmed up, it holds on to it into the evening.

Any of these is worth a proper look:

  • Rooms under the roof that stay hot into the night
  • Uncertainty over the right type and size of system
  • Rooms that get too hot to sleep or work in
  • Portable units that are noisy and barely cope

What affects the quote in E7

Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:

  • The condition of any existing system
  • The type of system, from a single split to a larger system
  • The distance and route between the indoor and outdoor units
  • The brand, model and parts involved

A single unit or a whole estate, we price it on the same basis: what needs doing, how we get to it and what it needs. The price is fixed before we start, with VAT shown clearly.

Helping us quote

To speed up the quote, send us:

  • A few photos of the room and the wall the unit is on, or will go on
  • A photo of the consumer unit with the cover closed
  • A close-up of the unit’s label showing the model number
  • The postcode and whether it’s a home, flat or business

Our prices page gives typical ranges, but your quote is based on your job, because no two buildings, rooms or systems are the same. After a look at the job, by pictures or a survey, the price is fixed. To start, ring 07833 053749 or use the quote form.

E7 questions

Is E7 in your area?

Yes. We work in E7 and the rest of Greater London, within the London and South East area we cover. To book, call 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier.

Do you offer emergency call-outs?

Yes. If something urgent happens, like water coming from a unit or a critical room overheating, call our 24/7 line and we’ll tell you what to do first.

What size air conditioning unit do I need?

It depends on the room, not only its floor area. Windows, the direction the room faces, the roof above and the people and equipment in it all count, and we take them all into account on the survey.

Will you work on another installer’s system?

Yes. We start with a proper look and tell you honestly what we find, including anything about the original installation that needs putting right. Any work is priced before it goes ahead.

Are you F-Gas certified?

We hold F-Gas company certification, which the law requires for any business working on refrigerant. We are also NICEIC approved, MCS certified for heat pumps and Checkatrade members.

Which type of system should I choose?

It depends on the rooms and the building. Wall-mounted splits suit single rooms, multi-splits run several rooms from one outdoor unit, ducted systems hide the unit in the ceiling, and cassettes suit offices and larger rooms. The survey ends with a recommendation and the reasons.

How soon will you get back to me?

You’ll hear from us the same working day. For a breakdown that cannot wait, call our 24/7 emergency line.
