Our air conditioning service in CR3
Across CR3, every installation follows the same steps: a site survey, or pictures for simple jobs, then a fixed-price quote, the installation, commissioning and F-Gas records. The price is fixed up front and the records are handed over at the end. Common call-outs are for uncertainty over the right type and size of system and portable units that are noisy and barely cope, on ceiling cassettes, multi-split systems and ducted systems.
We book the visit for a day and time that suit you, and we keep you posted if anything changes. On arrival, the engineer compares the job with the survey, your pictures or the details you gave us. If something is different, we talk it through with you before carrying on. From there, the work takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system.
- We start by looking at the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.
- We size the system for each room, then send a fixed-price quote with the units and where they go.
- Brackets go on, the units are hung and the refrigerant lines, cable and drain are routed between them.
- Power is wired in, the joints are proved leak-tight under pressure and a vacuum pump draws out air and moisture.
- Finally, it’s commissioned, tested in each mode and handed over with the F-Gas records.
What you will pay
Whatever the property, the quote works the same way: what’s needed, how we reach it, the parts and the labour. Call for a fixed-price quote and we will explain each part.
Why book with us
- Fixed-price quotes after a survey or pictures

Getting a quote
Here’s what helps us quote: the address and the type of property, pictures of the rooms or units, the brand and model of anything already fitted and any symptoms, from error codes to drips. Then ring us on 07833 053749 or email us.
Around Caterham
Around Caterham, our work takes us to homes and businesses near The King And Queen Public House, de Stafford School and Sunnydown School. Other local landmarks include Dollypers Hill (1.9 miles north-west), Hillcroft Primary School (less than half a mile south-east) and Sacred Heart Church (under half a mile east). The nearest railway station is Caterham station, roughly 0.7 miles south-east. Nearby you will also find Bletchingley Castle (3.4 miles south) and East Surrey Museum (0.6 miles south-east). Open spaces near Caterham include South London Downs National Nature Reserve and Mercers Lake.
Air conditioning across CR3: local notes
In CR3, we install in places such as Coulsdon, Caterham and Warlingham and well beyond. Every place on our CR3 list (8 in all) is covered.
We’re based in East Grinstead and work across London and the South East, CR3 included. Every job starts with a site survey or photos, then a fixed-price quote.
Caterham: With historic houses such as Titsey Place about 4.7 miles east, it’s a reminder that older homes nearby may be listed, which changes the planning rules. Older streets near Sacred Heart Church may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes.
Looking after it afterwards
Here’s the after-treatment advice, short and simple:
- Wash or vacuum the filters as the manual describes
- Shut doors and windows when it’s on
- Use moderate settings for comfort and economy
- Book an annual service
Before we leave, the system is commissioned and tested in each mode. Once it’s running properly, we take you through the controls and settings so you know how to get the best from it.
Clean the filters regularly, not just at the service. Clean filters keep the air moving and help the system work as designed, so it uses less electricity for the same comfort.
Safe owner checks
Before you call us about a fault, a few checks can save a visit: is the system in the right mode, is the set temperature sensible, are the remote’s batteries working and has the breaker tripped. If a breaker trips again after you reset it, leave it off and give us a ring on 07833 053749 or drop us a line.
Don’t move, re-route or disconnect units or pipework yourself. Disconnecting a system means dealing with refrigerant, which only a qualified engineer can do, and the electrical side needs a competent person. If you need something moved, we can quote for it.
What we are called out for in CR3
Computers, screens, lighting and people all give off heat. A small office or a busy room can warm up fast with equipment and people in it, even when it isn’t especially hot outside.
Reasons to give us a call include:
- A loft room or top floor that bakes in summer
- Expensive direct electric heating
- Portable units that are noisy and barely cope
- Rooms that get too hot to sleep or work in
Let and managed properties
Running several properties is easier with one contractor. Our area covers Greater London and the South East, so work at different addresses can be planned together and kept on a regular cycle.
Bigger systems bring extra duties: a TM44 inspection by an accredited energy assessor is required at least every 5 years for systems over 12 kW. We can arrange it, prepare the system for it and fix what it finds.
CR3 questions
Can you come out in an emergency?
Yes, 24/7. Call the emergency line and tell us the make, the symptoms and any error code, and we will advise on what to do next.
Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?
The F-gas rules share it between the equipment’s operator and the engineers who work on it. How often depends on the size of the refrigerant charge in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e.
Will you need to do electrical work?
Most systems need their own supply from the consumer unit. Under Part P, a new circuit has to be notified unless a registered competent person does it, and as NICEIC approved contractors we install and certify it as part of the job.
Is planning permission needed for the outdoor unit?
It depends on the system and the property. In England, an air source heat pump on a house can be permitted development if it meets set conditions, including the MCS 020(a) noise check, but a cooling-only unit isn’t covered, so check with the council. Listed buildings, conservation areas and flats have extra limits. This is general information, not legal advice.
Can I do any of the installation myself?
Anything that involves the refrigerant needs an F-Gas qualified engineer from a certified company. That is the law, not just our preference, and it also matters for the manufacturer’s warranty. We can quote for the whole job, from supply to commissioning.
Do you look at the job first?
Yes. Every job is looked at first, on a survey, or from your photos and details where the job is simple. A fixed-price quote follows.
Should I choose wall-mounted, ducted or cassette?
Number of rooms, space outside and how much of the unit you want to see all decide it. Ducted systems need a ceiling void or loft, and cassettes need a suspended ceiling, which we check on the survey.
