Air conditioning in CR5

Air conditioning and heat pumps for homes and businesses in CR5, by an F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved company.

How air conditioning works in CR5

Across CR5, every installation follows the same steps: a site survey, or pictures for simple jobs, then a fixed-price quote, the installation, commissioning and F-Gas records. The price is fixed up front and the records are handed over at the end. Typical jobs include portable units that are noisy and barely cope and working from home in a room that gets too warm, on VRF systems, multi-split systems and ducted systems.

Refrigerant work is done by qualified engineers working for an F-Gas certified company, while the electrical side is covered by our NICEIC approval. So on the day, you do not need a separate electrician for the electrical side. The work takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access.

  1. You send photos, or we visit and survey the rooms and outside.
  2. The system is sized, positions are agreed and the price is fixed.
  3. On the day, dust sheets go down and the indoor and outdoor units are fitted.
  4. We run and connect the pipes, cable and drain, then pressure test and evacuate the circuit.
  5. It’s switched on, checked and handed over with its records.

Pricing in CR5

Putting the work off seldom saves money. Faults and wear in a system tend to grow, and a system working harder than it should costs more to run. If you are unsure, phone us on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier and we’ll give you an honest view and a fixed price.

How to get a quote

Photos are enough for some jobs; others need a visit first. Multi-room systems, commercial buildings and anything with a long or hidden pipe route are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before anything goes ahead.

What’s near Coulsdon

In Coulsdon, that means homes and buildings near Dollypers Hill, The Pembroke pub and St Andrew's Church. You will also find Smitham Primary School (less than half a mile north-west) and Coulsdon Sixth Form College (1 mile south-east). Coulsdon has its own railway station: Coulsdon South station. A little further out are Croydon Airport Visitor Centre (3 miles north) and Purley War Memorial Hospital (2 miles north-east). Green spaces nearby include Duppas Hill and Mercers Lake.

Air conditioning across CR5: local notes

In CR5, as across England, the same permitted development rules apply: an air-to-air system that heats as well as cools can be permitted development on a house, but cooling-only units, listed buildings and outdoor units facing a road in conservation areas need more care.

Our area stretches from Greater London through Surrey, Kent and Sussex to Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex, and CR5 sits within it. One phone number covers all of it.

Coulsdon: If you commute from Coulsdon South station and work from home on other days, one wall-mounted unit in the home office is often all that is needed. Nonsuch Mansion, about 4.9 miles north-west, is one of the historic houses nearby, and if your own home is listed, consent comes before any air conditioning is fixed to it.

Owner checks or an engineer?

Owner care supports servicing; it doesn’t replace it. Simple care keeps the air moving through the system, but the refrigerant circuit, the electrics and the parts you can’t see still need an engineer at the interval the manufacturer recommends.

Leave the units and pipework where they are. Disconnecting a system means dealing with refrigerant, which only a qualified engineer can do, and the electrical side needs a competent person. If you need something moved, we can quote for it.

What affects the cost of air conditioning

The quote reflects the job in front of us. We take into account:

  • What kind of system it is
  • How many units are involved
  • How far the pipework has to run, and where
  • A single visit or a regular plan

Putting several jobs into one visit can make for a more efficient booking. Mention every unit or room you need covered and we’ll price it together.

Helping us quote

Photos let us diagnose from a distance. The most useful are:

  • The outdoor side of the property, including any roof or flat area
  • The remote or wall controller showing any error
  • Wide photos of the room or the existing unit
  • A close-up of the unit’s label showing the model number

The quickest way to a quote is to send pictures: the inside and outside of the property where the work is, plus the rating plate of any unit already there. Tell us the address and what you need, and many jobs can be priced from that.

System by system

Offices, shops and commercial rooms

Larger buildings may suit VRF, which runs many indoor units from shared outdoor units. VRF and larger commercial jobs are priced after a survey, with the design explained in the quote.

Wall-mounted split systems

Single-room split systems are typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT, with supply, fitting, commissioning and the F-Gas paperwork included. Where you sit in that range depends on the pipe run, access and electrics.

Rented and managed buildings

We work for landlords, letting agents and managing agents as well as homeowners and businesses. Tell us who the contact on site is and who should receive the paperwork and we’ll copy in whoever needs it.

Running several properties is easier with one contractor. We work across London and the South East, so a run of properties can go into one programme and kept on a regular cycle.

FAQs for CR5

Can I use air conditioning to heat a room?

Most of the time, yes. Running as a heat pump, it moves heat in from outside rather than making it from electricity alone. If you want it to replace your main heating, ask about air-to-air heat pumps and the conditions for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant.

Which manufacturers do you install and repair?

The main ones, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. For a new system, we suggest the make and model that suit the property and tell you why.

Can the outdoor unit go on a roof or at ground level?

We agree it with you on the survey. It must have clear airflow and space for servicing, and a position facing a road can bring extra planning considerations. We will tell you what to check before we fit it.

Do you provide F-Gas records?

Yes, always. A new system comes with commissioning details, F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty information, while repairs and services get a written note of what was found and done.

Can landlords and managing agents book you?

Yes. From one rented home to commercial buildings, the approach is the same: a look first, a fixed-price quote and written records.

Which type of system should I choose?

The right one depends on how many rooms you want to cool, how much space there is outside and how visible you want the indoor units to be. Ducted units need a void or loft, and cassettes need a suspended ceiling and the survey confirms what’s possible.

Does air conditioning need its own electrical supply?

Typically, yes. We check your consumer unit on the survey and include any electrical work on the quote, and our NICEIC approval covers the installation and certificate.
