Our air conditioning service in CR2
Across CR2, every installation follows the same steps: a site survey, or pictures for simple jobs, then a fixed-price quote, the installation, commissioning and F-Gas records. The price is fixed up front and the records are handed over at the end. Typical jobs include fans and portables that don’t keep up and a business premises that overheats in summer, across wall-mounted split systems, multi-split systems and VRF systems.
Protection comes first: dust sheets over floors and furniture near the work, and we ask before moving anything. After that, anything electrical is made safe and we start. The work on site takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access, and we clear up before we go.
- We start by looking at the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.
- The quote is fixed and shows the equipment, where each unit goes and what’s included.
- The indoor unit is fixed in place, the outside unit positioned, and the connecting runs put in tidily.
- The electrical supply is connected, and the refrigerant circuit is pressure tested and evacuated.
- Finally, it’s commissioned, tested in each mode and handed over with the F-Gas records.
How we quote

Getting a quote
Our prices page gives typical ranges, but your quote is based on your job, because no two buildings, rooms or systems are the same. After a look at the job, by photos or a survey, the price is fixed. To get going, ring 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier.
Landmarks near South Croydon
Locally, jobs take us to houses, flats and workplaces close to Rutherford School, Purley Oaks Primary School and Duppas Hill, among other places. Also close by are Harris Academy Purley (0.6 miles west), Church of St Augustine (less than half a mile west) and The Purley Arms (within half a mile south-west). South Croydon has its own railway station: Sanderstead station. A little further out are Purley War Memorial Hospital (1.2 miles south-west) and Croydon Airport Visitor Centre (1 mile west). For a walk, there’s Roundshaw Downs and Duppas Hill.
Air conditioning across CR2
In CR2, as across England, the same permitted development rules apply: cooling-only units are not covered, listed buildings need consent and conservation areas restrict outdoor units facing a road.
Enquiries from CR2 get a reply on the working day they arrive. Breakdowns can go to the 24/7 line instead.
South Croydon: If you work from home near Sanderstead station, a home office that overheats is one of the easiest rooms to cool. Living close to Church of St Augustine? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is.
Why it fails
Portable units are often where people start, and why they call us. A portable unit has to vent its warm air through a hose out of a window, which lets some heat back in, and its compressor sits in the room with you. With a split system, the compressor lives outside.
Common reasons people call us are:
- A portable unit with a hose out of the window
- A system on old refrigerant that is due for replacement
- A study or office that overheats during the day
- Uncertainty over the right type and size of system
Why act early?
Planning ahead beats a rushed decision in a heatwave. When people buy in a hurry, the unit is often the wrong size or badly placed, which is costly to undo. Booking the survey early gives you time to weigh up the options.

System by system
Ceiling cassettes
Ceiling cassettes fit into the ceiling and push air out in several directions and they’re a common choice for offices, shops and larger rooms.
Offices, shops and commercial rooms
Offices and shops usually need several units and sensible central controls. We size for the people, equipment and glazing in the space, and plan the work so the business keeps running.
Looking after your system
So the system stays in good health:
- Refit filters properly after cleaning
- Close windows and doors while the system is cooling
- Keep the F-Gas records, commissioning details and warranty information together
- Report drips, noises or error codes right away
We show you how to take the filters out and clean them. In busy periods, clean them every few weeks, or as the manual recommends, and keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves and clutter.
Clean the filters regularly, not just at the service. Blocked filters cut airflow and make the system work harder, so it uses less electricity for the same comfort.
Common questions in CR2
How do you keep the place clean during the work?
We start with protection: dust sheets over floors and anything close to the work. Any drilling is agreed with you first, and we clear up the dust and offcuts before we leave.
Is the equipment covered by a warranty?
Warranty comes from the manufacturer and depends on the brand and product. For instance, Daikin’s standard warranty on split air conditioning is 2 years, and we explain the terms for whichever brand you choose.
Does servicing affect my warranty?
It depends on the manufacturer’s terms. Some warranty terms require the system to be serviced regularly by a qualified engineer, so it’s worth checking. Keep every service record either way.
Do you survey before quoting?
Yes. We always look before we price, either on a site survey or from photos and details for simple jobs. A fixed-price quote follows.
Will I need planning permission?
That depends on what’s being fitted and where. Heat pumps on houses in England can be permitted development when they meet set conditions, including the MCS 020(a) noise check, while a unit that only cools is not covered and needs checking with the council. Flats, listed buildings and conservation areas have tighter rules. This is general information, not legal advice.
Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?
The F-gas rules share it between the equipment’s operator and the engineers who work on it. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least yearly for 5 to under 50 tCO2e, and every 6 months for 50 to under 500 tCO2e.
Is air conditioning possible in a flat?
In many cases, but permissions come first. You’ll usually need the landlord’s or management company’s consent for the outdoor unit and the pipe route and the lease will say. Planning rules for flats are tighter too, so we point out anything that may need permission on the survey. This is general information, not legal advice.
