Air conditioning across SE25: what to expect
Across SE25, every installation follows the same steps: survey, fixed-price quote, a neat installation, full commissioning and the F-Gas paperwork. You know the price before we start and the paperwork is in your hands when we finish. Common call-outs are for a system on old refrigerant that’s due for replacement and rooms heated by plug-in heaters, on multi-split systems, wall-mounted split systems and air-to-air heat pumps.
Our engineers bring the tools, gauges and access equipment the job needs. You only need to give us clear access to the units, or their planned positions, and to the fuse board. The visit takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access.
- Diagnosis comes first, with a survey of the rooms, outside space and fuse board.
- Next, a recommendation for each room and a fixed price.
- Then the work: units up, pipes and drain run, and a new circuit where necessary.
- Before it runs, the pipework is proved tight and put under vacuum.
- Finally, the clean bill of health: commissioning, the controls explained and your paperwork handed over.
What affects the price in SE25
No two properties are the same, so each one gets its own fixed-price quote. The equipment, how we reach it, the route between units and the work needed all play a part.

Getting a price
To help us quote: the address and the type of property, a few pictures, the brand and model of anything already fitted and anything you’ve noticed, such as an error code or a noise. Once you have those, give us a ring on 07833 053749 or email us.
Local landmarks in Selhurst
Around Selhurst, our work takes us to homes and businesses near The Albion pub, St Mark's Church of England Primary Academy and Church of St Mark, among other places. Nearby too are South Norwood Recreation Ground (within half a mile south-west) and Harris Academy South Norwood (under half a mile north-west). Selhurst has its own railway station: Norwood Junction station. A little further out are Croydon University Hospital (1.7 miles south-west) and Crystal Palace Museum (1.4 miles north). For a walk, there’s Duppas Hill and Dulwich Upper Wood.
Air conditioning across SE25: local notes
Across SE25, from Thornton Heath, Selhurst and South Norwood to the villages, homes range from older terraces and cottages to new estates and flats. We survey every property before we quote, then a fixed-price quote.
SE25 is part of a working area that runs from Greater London to the Sussex coast and out to Oxfordshire and Essex. One phone number covers all of it.
Selhurst: If you commute from Norwood Junction station and work from home on other days, one wall-mounted unit in the home office is often all that is needed. Kingswood House (roughly 2.2 miles north) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on.
Why deal with it now?
Fans and portables move warm air around rather than removing it. A properly installed split moves heat outside, keeps the noisy parts out of the room and in most cases heats too, so it earns its keep all year.
What your quote should include
- The make and model of any parts or equipment being quoted
- Whether they hold F-Gas company certification, not just individual qualifications
- What records you get at the end
- Whether the quote shows VAT clearly
What affects the cost of air conditioning
Your quote is based on your property. We take into account:
- How easy the units are to reach
- The type of system, from a single split to a larger system
- Whether the existing supply is suitable
- The distance and route between the indoor and outdoor units
Our prices page shows typical ranges, but each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a fixed-price quote, and we will talk you through it.
Asking for a quote
Photos and a few facts are often enough to price a simple job. Useful things to send:
- The fuse board and where it is in the property
- A close-up of the unit’s label showing the model number
- Any error code or flashing light on the display
- Wide pictures of the room or the existing unit
Photos are enough for some jobs; others need a visit first. Multi-room systems, commercial buildings and anything with a long or hidden pipe route are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work is booked.
Looking after your system
Every system needs looking after, and most of it is easy. A few tips:
- Choose a comfortable set temperature rather than the lowest
- Shut doors and windows when it’s on
- Keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter
- Never run the system with the filters out
The work area is left tidy: sheets removed, packaging cleared up and pipe holes sealed. Outside, the pipework is neatly fixed and protected as agreed on the survey.
Regular filter cleaning is the simplest thing you can do. Blocked filters cut airflow and make the system work harder, so it uses less electricity for the same comfort.
System by system
Offices, shops and commercial rooms
For bigger buildings, VRF systems link many indoor units to shared outdoor plant. Commercial and VRF systems are priced after a survey, with the design explained in the quote.
Ceiling cassettes
A cassette needs a void above the ceiling for the unit, pipework and drain, with a condensate pump where the drain cannot fall naturally. We check the ceiling void on the survey.
Questions from SE25
Is planning permission needed for the outdoor unit?
That depends on what’s being fitted and where. Heat pumps on houses in England can be permitted development when they meet set conditions, including the MCS 020(a) noise check, while a unit that only cools is not covered and needs checking with the council. Listed buildings, conservation areas and flats have extra limits. This is general information, not legal advice.
Will skipping a service affect the warranty?
It depends on the manufacturer’s terms. Some warranty terms require the system to be serviced regularly by a qualified engineer, so it’s worth checking. Keep every service record either way.
Can I fit air conditioning or a heat pump myself?
Anything that involves the refrigerant needs an F-Gas qualified engineer from a certified company. That’s a legal requirement, and it also matters for the manufacturer’s warranty. We’re happy to quote for the full job, supply to commissioning.
Do you work in SE25?
Yes. Our area takes in London and the counties of the South East, SE25 included.
Are you F-Gas certified?
F-Gas company certification, NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps, and we are Checkatrade members. Our engineers also hold the individual F-gas qualifications needed to work on refrigerant.
Can you set up regular servicing?
Yes. Send details of the systems and how they’re used and we’ll propose a schedule and quote for it. That can include the leak checks the F-gas rules require for larger systems.
What does F-Gas certified mean?
F-Gas certification shows a company is approved to work on equipment containing fluorinated gases, such as the refrigerant in air conditioning and heat pumps. In Great Britain, that certification is a legal requirement, not an optional extra, and we hold it.
