Air conditioning in SW2

Our engineers cover all of the SW2 postcode district, which takes in Brixton, Streatham Hill and Tulse Hill. Every job starts with a site survey and a fixed-price quote.

Air conditioning across SW2: what to expect

We fit wall-mounted splits, multi-split systems, ducted systems and ceiling cassettes, with VRF for larger buildings. The right choice depends on the rooms, the building and how visible you want the indoor units to be, and we explain the options on the survey. Typical jobs include portable units that are noisy and barely cope and a loft room or top floor that bakes in summer, across air-to-air heat pumps, ducted systems and multi-split systems.

Our engineers arrive at the time agreed with you and run through the plan before anything else. Dust sheets go down over floors and anything close to the work, and the electrics are made safe before any panel comes off. On site, it takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer.

  1. First the diagnosis: a survey of the rooms, the walls, the outside and the electrics.
  2. Then the prescription: the right system and size for each room, on a fixed-price quote.
  3. The treatment: units fitted, pipework and drain routed, and the electrics installed.
  4. Testing: the circuit is pressure tested and evacuated before the refrigerant is released.
  5. Finally, the clean bill of health: commissioning, the controls explained and your paperwork handed over.

What’s near Brixton

There’s a railway station in Brixton itself: Brixton station. Well-known places in the area include London General Cab Company Museum (0.9 miles north) and Baynard's Castle (3.8 miles north). Where we install in SW2

Across SW2, from Streatham, Herne Hill and Brixton to the villages, homes range from older terraces and cottages to new estates and flats. Each install starts with a survey of the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.

Our area stretches from Greater London through Surrey, Kent and Sussex to Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex, and SW2 sits within it. You reach the same people wherever you are in it.

Brixton: Kingswood House (roughly 2.4 miles south-east) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on. Homes near Trinity Congregational Church are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it.

What you can do yourself, and what needs us

Good habits make our visits easier, not unnecessary. Simple care keeps the air moving through the system, but the refrigerant circuit, the electrics and the parts you cannot see still need an engineer at the interval the manufacturer recommends.

Leave the units and pipework where they are. Moving a unit involves the refrigerant circuit, so it needs an F-Gas qualified engineer, and the electrics need care too. Ask us to quote for a move instead.

Pricing air conditioning in SW2

The quote reflects the job in front of us. We consider:

  • What state the existing equipment is in
  • The electrical supply and whether a new circuit is needed
  • One-off work versus a regular service cycle
  • The size of the job

What you pay reflects the actual work. That’s why every job is looked at first, and the price is agreed before we start.

What we need to know

Photos let us diagnose from a distance. The most useful are:

  • Your consumer unit or fuse board
  • The outdoor side of the property, including any roof or flat area
  • The postcode and whether it’s a home, flat or business
  • A close-up of the unit’s label showing the model number

Need a price for air conditioning? Please phone us on 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form with a few details about the property. We’ll explain what we’d recommend and why, then send a fixed-price quote before anything is booked.

Rented and managed buildings

Larger air conditioning systems in buildings need more than servicing: a TM44 inspection by an accredited energy assessor is required at least every 5 years for systems over 12 kW. We can arrange it, prepare the system for it and fix what it finds.

We regularly work with managing agents. Tell us the property, the work and the access arrangements, and we’ll send a fixed-price quote.

What the work involves, system by system

Pipework and condensate drains

The indoor and outdoor units are joined by insulated refrigerant pipes, a cable and a condensate drain. We agree the route with you before we drill, and keep it as short and neat as the building allows.

Ducted systems

A ducted system needs a ceiling void or loft deep enough for the unit and ducts plus an access hatch for maintenance. The survey confirms whether there’s room.

Questions from SW2

Will I need planning permission?

Not necessarily. Permitted development can cover a heat pump on a house, including an air-to-air system that heats as well as cools since 2025, provided the conditions are met. Cooling-only units, listed buildings, flats and road-facing spots in conservation areas are where it usually comes up and the survey picks it up. This is general information, not legal advice.

Do I get paperwork after the visit?

Yes, on every job. New installations come with commissioning details, F-Gas records and warranty information, while repairs and services get a written note of what was found and done.

Can I have air conditioning in a flat?

That depends on the lease, the building and where the outdoor unit could go. An outdoor unit can sometimes go on a balcony, roof or rear wall, with consent, and we check the options on the survey. This is general information, not legal advice.

Which accreditations do you hold?

As the law requires for refrigerant work, we’re an F-Gas certified company. NICEIC approval, MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership sit alongside it.

How do you keep the place clean during the work?

We put dust sheets over floors and furniture near the work first, and we tidy up as we go. Before we leave, we clear up and run through the work with you.

Is there a survey before the work?

Yes, always. We diagnose before we treat: the survey shows what’s needed, where things go and what access we need and the fixed price is built on it.

How soon will you get back to me?

On the same working day you contact us. After that, we agree a survey, diagnosis or installation date that suits you, and you get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.
