Air conditioning in SE24: how it works
Across SE24, every installation follows the same steps: a site survey, or pictures for simple jobs, then a fixed-price quote, the installation, commissioning and F-Gas records. You know the price before any work starts and the paperwork is in your hands when we finish. The work covers multi-split systems, wall-mounted split systems and ceiling cassettes, and common reasons people get in touch are commercial rooms that are too warm for staff and fans and portables that don’t keep up.
The first job on site is protection: sheets over the floor and any furniture nearby and nothing is moved without asking you. Then the electrics are made safe and the work begins. The work on site takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer, and we tidy up before we leave.
- First the diagnosis: a survey of the rooms, the walls, the outside and the electrics.
- Then the prescription: the right system and size for each room, on a fixed-price quote.
- The treatment: units fitted, pipework and drain routed, and the electrics installed.
- Checks: a pressure test for leaks, then a vacuum to clear moisture.
- The sign-off: commissioning, a walk through the controls, and the F-Gas records and warranty details.

Every quote shows the VAT clearly, with the rate that applies to your job. VAT can differ between homes and businesses and between kinds of work, so we confirm it in writing rather than guess. To get one, call us on 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form.
What’s near Herne Hill
Typical jobs here are in properties near The Charter School, Belair Park and The Charter School and the streets around them. Other local landmarks include Saint Faith's (less than half a mile north-east), Half Moon pub (within half a mile west) and Judith Kerr Primary School (less than half a mile south). Herne Hill has its own railway station: North Dulwich station. Well-known places in the area include Surrey Quays Shopping Centre (3.5 miles north-east) and House of Dreams Museum (0.7 miles north-east). For a walk, there’s Battersea Park Lake and Knight's Hill.
Where we install in SE24
From Herne Hill, Camberwell and Loughborough Junction outwards, SE24 has every kind of home. Each install starts with a survey of the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go, then a fixed-price quote.
London and the South East cover everything from city flats to rural cottages. We’re F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved and MCS certified for heat pumps.
Herne Hill: With historic houses such as Kingswood House about 1.7 miles south, it’s a reminder that older homes nearby may be listed, which changes the planning rules. Plenty of people near North Dulwich station split the week between the train and a spare room, and that spare room is often the first to get a unit.
What owners can safely do
Keep a note of anything odd: error codes, noises, drips, smells or a drop in performance. It makes our diagnosis quicker, and a photo or a short video of the display is even better.
Before you call us about a fault, a few checks can save a visit: is the system in the right mode, is the set temperature sensible, are the remote’s batteries working and has the breaker tripped. If a breaker trips again after you reset it, leave it off and give us a ring on 07833 053749 or use the quote form.
System by system
Outdoor unit positions
On flats and terraced houses, space outside is often the deciding factor. We look at walls, roofs, balconies and yards on the survey, and tell you about any permissions you may need.
Wall-mounted split systems
Wall-mounted units suit bedrooms, living rooms, home offices and small commercial rooms. We choose the position for even airflow and easy filter access, and away from where the air would blow straight onto people.
After we have gone
Once we’ve finished, these simple steps help:
- Avoid setting it far colder than you need
- Shut doors and windows when it’s on
- Clean the filters every few weeks when the system is in heavy use
- Keep the F-Gas records, commissioning details and warranty information together
We show you how to take the filters out and clean them. Clean them every few weeks when the system is in heavy use, or as the manual recommends, and keep space clear around the outdoor unit.
Clean the filters regularly, not just at the service. Blocked filters cut airflow and make the system work harder, which costs you more to run.
Rented and managed buildings
If you look after several properties, we can quote and plan the work across all of them. Each property gets its own records, so the files stay tidy.
Larger air conditioning systems in buildings need more than servicing: systems with an effective rated output over 12 kW need a TM44 inspection by an accredited energy assessor at least every 5 years. We arrange the inspection, get the system ready and put right anything it picks up.
SE24 questions
Can you come out in an emergency?
Yes. There’s a 24/7 emergency line for breakdowns that cannot wait. Ring 07833 053749 any time and explain the problem.
Should I choose wall-mounted, ducted or cassette?
Number of rooms, space outside and how much of the unit you want to see all decide it. Ducted units need a void or loft, and cassettes need a suspended ceiling and the survey confirms what’s possible.
Can the outdoor unit go on a roof or at ground level?
We agree it with you on the survey. It needs space around it to breathe and room for an engineer to service it, and walls or roofs facing a road can raise planning questions. We will tell you what to check before we fit it.
Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?
Responsibility is shared between the operator, normally whoever owns or controls the equipment, and the service technicians. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e.
Do you work on all makes?
We install and work on the leading makes, from Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin and Fujitsu to Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Send us the make and model if you have it.
Can landlords and managing agents book you?
Yes. From one rented home to commercial buildings, we work the same way: survey or diagnosis, a fixed price and proper paperwork.
Can I use air conditioning to heat a room?
Most of the time, yes. Running as a heat pump, it moves heat in from outside rather than making it from electricity alone. If you want it to replace your main heating, ask about air-to-air heat pumps and the conditions for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant.
