About our air source heat pumps in Puddledock
Air-to-air heat pumps can qualify for a £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant, but only in some cases. The system must replace the existing fossil-fuel heating and meet the home’s full heating demand, it must be installed by an MCS certified installer, and it must be in a home; adding it alongside a boiler doesn’t qualify. The work covers underfloor heating, air-to-water heat pumps and air-to-air heat pumps, and common reasons people get in touch are finding a place for the outdoor unit and a boiler that’s getting old.
Homes in Puddledock are often flats and terraces, where outside space is limited, which affects which heat pump suits. An air-to-water system needs space outside and normally a hot water cylinder inside, while an air-to-air system needs less space.
Each manufacturer sets its own warranty period. Daikin, for example, gives a standard 2 years on split air conditioning, with longer extensions only on its air-to-water heat pumps. Whatever the brand, the manufacturer’s terms are explained on your quote.

The process
Our engineers arrive at the time agreed with you and check the plan with you first. Dust sheets go down over floors and anything close to the work, and anything electrical is made safe before work starts. On site, it takes from a couple of days to around a week, depending on the system and how much of the heating changes. Parking bays, permits and roof or balcony access are the first things we ask about in Puddledock.
- We start with your plans and the property.
- The survey checks heat loss, emitters, hot water and the outdoor unit position.
- You get our view on the right type for the house, and on whether the Boiler Upgrade Scheme applies.
- The system is installed and connected to the controls.
- After commissioning, you get the MCS certificate and a handover.
Preparing for the visit
- Dig out any previous service or F-Gas records
- Keep pets and children away from the work area
- Give us access to the outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits

Puddledock questions
Can I have air conditioning in a flat in Puddledock?
In many cases, yes, once the lease and the building’s rules are checked. Permitted development rules for flats are tighter than for houses, so we check the outdoor unit position and give you the details to send to the freeholder or managing agent.
Does the Boiler Upgrade Scheme cover homes in Puddledock?
Yes, the scheme covers homes in England, including Puddledock, if they qualify. It gives £7,500 towards an air-to-water or ground source heat pump, or £2,500 towards an air-to-air heat pump that replaces the fossil-fuel heating and meets the whole home’s heating need. We hold MCS certification, so the application is ours to make for you.
What accreditations do you have?
F-Gas company certification, NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps, and we are Checkatrade members. Engineers who handle refrigerant hold their own F-gas qualifications as well.
Can we book visits on a schedule?
Yes. Tell us what you have and how it’s used and we’ll propose a schedule and quote for it. Leak checks required by the F-gas rules can be built in for larger systems.
Who is responsible for leak checks?
Whoever operates the equipment, together with the technicians who service it. Larger systems need regular checks: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We can tell you which band your system falls into.
Do you cover Puddledock?
Yes. Our area takes in London and the counties of the South East, Puddledock included.
Is the equipment covered by a warranty?
The manufacturer’s warranty, on the manufacturer’s terms. Each brand sets its own conditions and periods, so we explain them on your quote.
Rented and managed buildings
Records are where property maintenance often slips. Each visit produces a dated record, with F-Gas records wherever refrigerant work is involved, so you can show what was done and when.
Whether it’s one property or many, you get the same standard: diagnosis, a fixed price, access agreed with the people on site and paperwork at the end.

Homes in Puddledock and heat pumps
Valuation Office Agency council tax records put about 40% of homes in and around Puddledock before 1919, and about 64% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to the last census (2021). Older homes can lose heat faster, so a room-by-room heat loss calculation, and sometimes insulation or larger radiators, comes before sizing a heat pump. Houses normally have space for an outdoor unit and a hot water cylinder. London homes can be short of space for an outdoor unit and cylinder, which affects the choice of heat pump.
Chartwell, roughly 0.6 miles north-west, is a reminder to check your home’s listing status: permitted development doesn’t cover listed buildings. Older homes near Holy Trinity Church may need extra checks for planning and heat loss before a heat pump is designed.

Fixed-price quotes for air source heat pumps in Puddledock
Before we fix a price, we need to know a few things. We look at:
- What we find on the survey or diagnosis
- A single visit or a regular plan
- The equipment or parts the job needs
Homes, offices, shops and public buildings are all priced the same way: the equipment, the access, the work involved and the time it takes. Ask for a fixed-price quote and we’ll explain each part.
Asking for a quote
The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. With your enquiry, please include:
- The outdoor side of the property, including any roof or flat area
- The fuse board and where it is in the property
- A close-up of the unit’s label showing the model number
Published ranges are a starting point; the quote is built on your property, because no two buildings, rooms or systems are the same. After a look at the job, by photos or a survey, the price is fixed. To start, call us on 07833 053749 or send an email.
