Air conditioning in BR1: how it works
Most air conditioning needs its own electrical supply from the consumer unit. Adding a new circuit is notifiable building work under Part P unless it’s done by a registered competent person, and our NICEIC approval means we install and certify it ourselves. The work covers ducted systems, wall-mounted split systems and VRF systems, and common reasons people get in touch are bedrooms and offices that overheat in summer and working from home in a room that gets too warm.
Our engineers bring the tools, gauges and access equipment the job needs. You only need to give us clear access to the units, or their planned positions, and to the fuse board. The visit takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access.
- We start by looking at the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.
- You receive one fixed figure covering the kit, the fitting and the positions we agreed.
- Brackets go on, the units are hung and the refrigerant lines, cable and drain are routed between them.
- Once the electrics are connected, the pipework is tested for leaks and put under vacuum before any refrigerant flows.
- The system is commissioned and checked in every mode, and we hand over the controls, F-Gas records and warranty information.
What you’ll pay
Our prices page shows typical ranges, but your price depends on the job in front of us. Call for a fixed-price quote, and we will talk you through it.
Why book with us
- Electrical work covered by our NICEIC approval
- We diagnose before we treat
- Fixed-price quotes after a survey or pictures
- Clear warranty information from the manufacturer
Ask for a quote
The quickest way to a quote is to send pictures: the inside and outside of the property where the work is, plus the rating plate of any unit already there. Add the address and what you’d like done, and many jobs can be priced from that.

The nearest railway station is Sundridge Park station, about 0.6 miles south-east of the centre. Air conditioning around BR1
Our air conditioning work across BR1 takes in places such as Bromley, Chislehurst and Catford and the smaller places around them. We cover every place we list for BR1, 15 in all.
Enquiries from BR1 get a reply on the working day they arrive. Breakdowns can go to the 24/7 line instead.
Plaistow: If you work from home near Sundridge Park station, a home office that overheats is one of the easiest rooms to cool. Living close to St Mary’s Church? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is.
Looking after it afterwards
So the system stays in good health:
- Keep the indoor unit’s filters clean
- Report drips, noises or error codes right away
- Keep the room closed while it runs
- Refit filters properly after cleaning
Questions after the installation go to the same number. Tell us what the system is doing, and any code on the display, and we’ll talk it through with you.
Give the outdoor unit room to breathe. Leaves, plants, bins and stored items around it restrict the airflow, and the system has to work harder as a result.
What owners can safely do
Owner care supports servicing; it doesn’t replace it. Simple care keeps the air moving through the system, but the inside of the units, the refrigerant and the electrics still need a qualified engineer.
For air conditioning, cleaning the indoor unit’s filters is the main job owners can do, if the manual says so. They come out, get a gentle clean and go back only when they’re dry. For a heat pump, the main owner jobs are a clear outdoor unit and sensible control settings.
How we price air conditioning
Typical ranges are on our prices page, and your quote is built on your job. What we look at:
- The equipment or parts the job needs
- Whether it’s a one-off job or part of a maintenance contract
- What we find on the survey or diagnosis
- The distance and route between the indoor and outdoor units
What you pay depends on the system and the number of rooms or units, how easy the units are to reach and the parts and time the job needs. We give you a fixed price before work begins, so there are no surprises.
Helping us quote
The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you get in touch, it helps to send:
- The address and the type of property
- The paperwork from the last service, if you have it
- The outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits or would go
- Wide pictures of the room or the existing unit
Want a quote for air conditioning? Please ring 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form with a few details about the property. We’ll talk you through the options and give you a fixed-price quote before you commit to anything.
Honest limits
Not every problem is solved by air conditioning, and we will tell you before work begins. It does not solve:
- Heat loss through very poor insulation (a system will heat the room, but insulation is a separate job)
- Stuffy rooms that need fresh air rather than cooling
- Damp from leaks or a lack of ventilation
BR1: your questions answered
Do you protect the property while you work?
We start with protection: sheets over the floor and nearby furniture. Holes and fixings are agreed with you, and we clean up afterwards when we finish.
How soon will you get back to me?
On the same working day you contact us. Then we agree a date that works for you, and you get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. Homeowners, landlords, agents and businesses all book us in BR1 and across Greater London. Tell us who should receive the paperwork.
Do you work on systems someone else installed?
Yes. Systems fitted by other companies are fine, on all the main brands. Tell us the make and model and send any paperwork you have.
Do you look at the job first?
Yes. Photos often do the job for simple work, while bigger systems and repairs that need testing get a visit.
Do you have a 24/7 line?
Yes. Our emergency line runs 24/7 for breakdowns that cannot wait. Ring 07833 053749 any time and explain the problem.
Is air conditioning possible in a flat?
That depends on the lease, the building and where the outdoor unit could go. Balconies, flat roofs and rear walls can all work, subject to consent, and we check the options on the survey. This is general information, not legal advice.
