Air conditioning across SE6: what to expect
Any installation we do in SE6 follows the same process as everywhere else we work: survey, fixed-price quote, a neat installation, full commissioning and the F-Gas paperwork. The price is fixed up front and the records are handed over at the end. The work covers ducted systems, multi-split systems and VRF systems, and common reasons people get in touch are a business premises that overheats in summer and a study or office that overheats during the day.
Anything involving refrigerant is handled by F-Gas qualified engineers, as the law requires, while the electrical side is covered by our NICEIC approval. So on the day, you don’t need a separate electrician for the electrical side. The work takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access.
- We start by looking at the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.
- We size the system for each room, then send a fixed-price quote with the units and where they go.
- The units go up and the pipework, cable and condensate drain are run neatly between them.
- Power is wired in, the joints are proved leak-tight under pressure and a vacuum pump draws out air and moisture.
- We commission the system, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty details.
What affects the price in SE6
Putting the work off seldom saves money. Faults and wear in a system tend to grow, and a system working harder than it should costs more to run. If you are unsure, phone 07833 053749 or send an email and we’ll give you an honest view and a fixed price.

Catford: Living close to Church of St Laurence and Community Centre? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is. If you commute from Catford Bridge station and work from home on other days, one wall-mounted unit in the home office is often all that’s needed.
What air conditioning cannot fix
We’d rather tell you now than sell you work that won’t help, so these are the things it will not cover:
- A ventilation problem rather than a temperature problem
- Central heating repairs
- Heat loss through very poor insulation (a system will heat the room, but insulation is a separate job)
Aftercare tips
After the visit, a few habits help:
- Use moderate settings for comfort and economy
- Leave space around the outdoor unit
- Keep the room closed while it runs
- Report drips, noises or error codes right away
We show you how to take the filters out and clean them. In busy periods, clean them every few weeks, or as the manual recommends, and keep space clear around the outdoor unit.
Regular filter cleaning is the simplest thing you can do. Clean filters keep the air moving and help the system work as designed, so it uses less electricity for the same comfort.
What happens if it’s left?
Refrigerant rules have changed what new systems use. From 2025, single splits under 3 kg cannot use refrigerants with a GWP over 750, so new splits use refrigerants such as R32, with a GWP of 675. Older R410A systems have a GWP of 2088.
Questions to ask before booking
- If the quote is based on a survey, photos or a diagnosis
- Whether the manufacturer’s warranty depends on regular servicing
- What’s in the price and what isn’t
- What paperwork you’ll receive afterwards
System by system
Electrical supply
Most systems need their own circuit from the consumer unit. As NICEIC approved contractors, we install it and issue the certificate and that covers the Part P side.
Offices, shops and commercial rooms
For bigger buildings, VRF systems link many indoor units to shared outdoor plant. Commercial and VRF systems are priced after a survey, with the design explained in the quote.
FAQs for SE6
How much does air conditioning installation cost?
Single-room systems start from £1,200 + VAT and are typically up to £2,200 + VAT. The price includes supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation, and we fix it after a survey or from your pictures.
How do you keep the place clean during the work?
Protection goes down first: dust sheets over floors and anything close to the work. Any drilling is agreed with you first, and we clear up the dust and offcuts before we leave.
When will I hear back?
On the same working day you contact us. After that, we agree a survey, diagnosis or installation date that suits you, with a fixed price before work starts.
Which type of air conditioning is best?
There’s no single best type. A split suits one room, a multi-split several, a ducted system hides the unit, and a cassette spreads air across larger rooms. We recommend one on the survey and explain why.
Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?
Yes. We look at it first and tell you what we find, including anything about the original installation that needs putting right. Any work is priced before it goes ahead.
Which brands do you work with?
The main ones, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. For new systems, we recommend a brand and model to suit the job and explain why.
Can landlords and managing agents book you?
Yes. From a single let flat to offices, shops and public buildings, the approach is the same: a look first, a fixed-price quote and written records.
