Our air conditioning service in SE4
Not sure what you need, or where it would go? Send a few photos of the rooms and the outside walls when you ring 07833 053749 or send an email, and you will hear back from us the same working day about a survey or a fixed-price quote. We’re often asked to deal with portable units that are noisy and barely cope and commercial rooms that are too warm for staff, across ceiling cassettes, multi-split systems and VRF systems.
Our engineers bring the tools, gauges and access equipment the job needs. You only need to give us clear access to the units, or their planned positions, and to the fuse board. On site, the work takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems.
- We start by looking at the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.
- You receive one fixed figure covering the kit, the fitting and the positions we agreed.
- The units go up and the pipework, cable and condensate drain are run neatly between them.
- The electrical supply is connected, and the refrigerant circuit is pressure tested and evacuated.
- Finally, it’s commissioned, tested in each mode and handed over with the F-Gas records.
What affects the price in SE4
Putting the work off seldom saves money. Small problems, from blocked filters to slow leaks, tend to get worse, and a system working harder than it should costs more to run. If you are not sure what’s needed, call us on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier and we will give you an honest view and a fixed price.
Why book with us

How to get a quote
Every quote shows the VAT clearly, and the rate that applies to your job is stated. Homes, businesses and different kinds of work can be treated differently for VAT, so we confirm it in writing rather than guess. For a fixed-price quote, ring 07833 053749 or send an email.
Local landmarks in Telegraph Hill
Locally, jobs take us to houses, flats and workplaces close to Fordham Park, St Catherine's Hatcham and Haberdashers' Hatcham College and the streets around them. Telegraph Hill has its own railway station: Brockley station. Other landmarks nearby include Southwark Adult Education Institute (0.6 miles north-west) and Lewisham Shopping Centre (1.4 miles east). Not far away are St. James's Park Lake and New Cross Gate Cutting.
Air conditioning around SE4
Our air conditioning work across SE4 takes in places such as New Cross, Nunhead and Telegraph Hill and the smaller places around them. Every place on our SE4 list (7 in all) is covered.
London and the South East cover everything from city flats to rural cottages. Our work is F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved for the electrics and MCS certified for heat pumps.
Telegraph Hill: If you commute from Brockley station and work from home on other days, one wall-mounted unit in the home office is often all that is needed. With historic houses such as Queen's House about 2 miles north-east, it’s a reminder that older homes nearby may be listed, which changes the planning rules.
Looking after your system
A little care keeps the system in better shape. We recommend:
- Avoid setting it far colder than you need
- Keep to the service interval the manufacturer recommends
- Refit filters properly after cleaning
- Clean the filters every few weeks when the system is in heavy use
You get the paperwork that matters: the commissioning details, the F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty information. File them together as they’re needed for servicing and any warranty question.
Regular filter cleaning is the simplest thing you can do. Clean filters keep the air moving and help the system work as designed, which costs you more to run.
Why deal with it now?
Fans and portables move warm air around rather than removing it. A properly installed split moves heat outside, keeps the noisy parts out of the room and in most cases heats too, so it works for you in winter as well.
Questions to ask before booking
- What happens if the job turns out to be different on the day
- Whether testing, commissioning and paperwork are included
- Whether the manufacturer’s warranty depends on regular servicing
- Whether a new circuit is included and who certifies it
What you can do yourself, and what needs us
Good habits make our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and a clear outdoor unit help the system run as it should, but the inside of the units, the refrigerant and the electrics still need a qualified engineer.
Keep a note of anything odd: an error code, a new noise, a drip, a smell or a change in how well the system heats or cools. It helps us diagnose quickly, and a photo or a short video of the display is even better.
Rented and managed buildings
For anyone managing more than one building, we can plan visits across the portfolio and price them together. Each property gets its own records, so each one has its own history.
Records are where property maintenance often slips. Each visit produces a dated record, with F-Gas records wherever refrigerant work is involved, so you can show what was done and when.
Common questions in SE4
Will I get records for the system?
Yes. It’s your proof of what was done: a dated note of the work, with refrigerant details where they apply.
Why does F-Gas certification matter?
F-Gas certification shows a company is approved to work on equipment containing fluorinated gases, such as the refrigerant in air conditioning and heat pumps. In Great Britain, that certification is a legal requirement, not an optional extra, and AirCon Doctor is certified.
Can you fit air conditioning in a leasehold flat?
Often, yes, but there are extra steps. Leaseholders normally need consent from the landlord or management company for an outdoor unit and holes through outside walls and the lease will say. Planning rules for flats are tighter too, so we point out anything that may need permission on the survey. This is general information, not legal advice.
How much is air conditioning for one room?
It depends on the rooms, the system and the pipe route, but a single-room split is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. Long pipe runs, difficult access, a new circuit and premium indoor units push the price up, and commercial systems are priced after a survey.
Do you work in SE4?
Yes. Our area takes in London and the counties of the South East, and that includes SE4.
Will skipping a service affect the warranty?
It can, for some brands. Read the manufacturer’s terms, or send us the make and model and we’ll explain them, and book the service at the interval they recommend.
Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?
The operator of the equipment, working with qualified engineers. Larger systems need regular checks: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We’ll work out which band applies to yours.
