Air con installation in SE12

Our air conditioning service in SE12

Good air conditioning starts with the right system in the right place. Each room is assessed for its size, windows, direction and how it’s used, and we agree the unit positions and the route for the pipes, cable and drain, all before the price is fixed. The work covers ceiling cassettes, air-to-air heat pumps and multi-split systems, and common reasons people get in touch are not knowing which system, size or brand to choose and old electric heaters you’d like to replace with something more efficient.

Each visit follows the same order: agree the plan on site, put the dust sheets down, carry out the job, check the system and talk you through it. On site, the work takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems.

  1. We survey the property, or work from your pictures for a simple job.
  2. Each room is sized and the unit positions agreed, then you get a fixed-price quote.
  3. We protect the area, then fit both halves of the system.
  4. Pipework, cable and drain are run, the circuit is connected and the pipework is pressure tested and evacuated.
  5. It’s switched on, checked and handed over with its records.

Air conditioning around SE12

From Eltham, Hither Green and Well Hall outwards, SE12 has every kind of home. Each install starts with a survey of the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go, then a fixed-price quote.

Refrigerant work is done by F-gas qualified engineers for a certified company, while NICEIC approval covers the electrical work, in SE12 as everywhere else.

Lee: Around Church of the Good Shepherd, a quick check of the listing and conservation maps is part of planning any install. With historic houses such as Eltham Palace about 1.7 miles east, it’s a reminder that older homes nearby may be listed, which changes the planning rules.

Owner checks or an engineer?

Keep a note of anything odd: error codes, noises, drips, smells or a drop in performance. It makes our diagnosis quicker, and a photo or a short video of the display is even better.

Do not move, re-route or disconnect units or pipework yourself. Moving a unit involves the refrigerant circuit, so it needs an F-Gas qualified engineer, and the electrical side needs a competent person. Ask us to quote for a move instead.

When something else is needed

Air conditioning cannot fix everything, and we will tell you before we start. It does not solve:

  • A room that can’t take an outdoor unit or pipe route without the landlord’s, management company’s or council’s consent (that consent comes first)
  • Central heating repairs
  • A lack of fresh air (most split systems recirculate room air rather than bringing fresh air in, which is a job for ventilation)

System by system

Electrical supply

Most systems need their own circuit from the consumer unit. We’re NICEIC approved, so we fit and certify the circuit ourselves and that covers the Part P side.

Offices, shops and commercial rooms

Commercial rooms often need more than one unit and controls that suit how the space is used. Sizing takes account of occupants, equipment and windows, and plan the work so the business keeps running.

What affects the quote in SE12

You will get a fixed price before any work starts. It’s based on:

  • The equipment or parts the job needs
  • What kind of system it is
  • What we find on the survey or diagnosis
  • What electrical work the job needs

Our prices page shows typical ranges, but each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a fixed-price quote, and we’ll explain what it covers.

What to send for a quote

Photos let us diagnose from a distance. The most useful are:

  • Your installation or service records
  • Where the outdoor unit is, or where you’d like it
  • A few pictures of the room and the wall the unit is on, or will go on
  • Your consumer unit or fuse board

Some jobs can be priced from photos, while others need a survey. Bigger systems, commercial sites and awkward pipe routes are normally surveyed on site. Either way, the quote is fixed before anything goes ahead.

Questions from SE12

Does air conditioning work as heating?

Most of the time, yes: modern splits are normally heat pumps, so they can heat a room in winter. The Energy Saving Trust notes that air-to-air heat pumps are sometimes referred to as air conditioning. Some cooling-only models exist, so we confirm it for the model on your quote.

Is the equipment covered by a warranty?

Warranty comes from the manufacturer and depends on the brand and product. For instance, Daikin’s standard warranty on split air conditioning is 2 years, and we explain the terms for whichever brand you choose.

Which manufacturers do you install and repair?

We install and work on the leading makes, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Tell us the make and model and we will take it from there.

Do I get paperwork after the visit?

Yes. Every visit is written up, including F-Gas records for any refrigerant work. Keep them with the manual and the warranty documents.

Do I need to service the system to keep the warranty?

Each manufacturer decides. If servicing is in the terms, missing one could affect a claim, so we explain the terms on your quote.

Why use an F-Gas certified company?

Certification shows a business is approved to work on systems that hold F gas refrigerant. In Great Britain, that certification is a legal requirement, not an optional extra, and we hold it.

Do I need a new electrical circuit?

Most systems need their own supply from the consumer unit. Adding a new circuit is notifiable building work under Part P unless it’s done by a registered competent person, and as NICEIC approved contractors we install and certify it as part of the job.
