- Radiators that may be too small for a heat pump
- Deciding on the outdoor unit position

Heat loss surveys
Without a proper survey, a heat pump can be too big or too small and that matters for comfort and running.
Radiators and underfloor heating
If radiators need upsizing, the quote lists them, so you know the full scope.
Air source heat pumps in Belgravia
We install air source heat pumps in Belgravia and across Greater London, and we are MCS certified. There are two kinds: air-to-water, which heats radiators or underfloor heating and your hot water, and air-to-air, which warms rooms through indoor units and can also cool. We’ll explain which type fits your home and why. The work covers air-to-air heat pumps, underfloor heating and air-to-water heat pumps, and the jobs we see most are ageing boilers that will need replacing and questions about listed buildings or conservation areas.
Homes in Belgravia are often flats and terraces, where outside space is limited, and that decides which kind of heat pump works. Air-to-water needs room for the outdoor unit and usually a cylinder, while an air-to-air system needs less space.
Equipment warranty comes from the manufacturer, on its own terms, and we explain those terms on your quote. Terms differ from brand to brand, and we’re happy to talk you through them.

What we do, step by step
On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you and check the plan with you first. Floors and furniture near the work are covered with dust sheets, and the electrics are made safe before any panel comes off. On site, it takes anything from a couple of days for air-to-air to the best part of a week for air-to-water with radiator changes. If your building in Belgravia has a managing agent, a concierge or sign-in rules, mention them when you book.
- First we talk through the property and the current system.
- We measure heat loss for every room.
- From those figures we size the heat pump and decide on radiators, cylinder and outdoor position.
- Cost, grant and VAT appear on one fixed-price quote.
- Installation, commissioning and MCS registration complete the job.
Preparing for the visit
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, high walls or locked plant areas
- Make sure someone can let us in at the agreed time
- Have the make and model of any existing unit to hand
Getting a price
Our prices page gives typical ranges, but your quote is based on your job, because every property is different. Once we’ve looked at the job, from photos or on a survey, you get a fixed price. To start, ring 07833 053749 or drop us a line.

Safe owner checks
Do not move, re-route or disconnect units or pipework yourself. Moving a unit involves the refrigerant circuit, so it needs an F-Gas qualified engineer, and the electrics need care too. If you need something moved, we can quote for it.
There are a few things you can safely do yourself: keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter, check the settings and the remote, and follow the cleaning the manual describes. Opening up the units, the electrics and the refrigerant circuit are a job for us.
Keeping the system healthy
Once we’ve finished, these simple steps help:
- Keep to regular servicing
- Find out the grant position at the survey
- Let the heat pump run steadily, as set up at handover
Once commissioned, we register the installation with MCS and give you the certificate. Keep it with the manufacturer’s paperwork, as you may need it later.
Keep radiators and indoor units unobstructed so the heat can get into the room.

Homes in Belgravia and heat pumps
About 60% of homes in the Belgravia area were built before 1919, according to VOA council tax data, and the 2021 Census found about 79% of households live in flats. Older homes can lose heat faster, so a room-by-room heat loss calculation, and sometimes insulation or larger radiators, comes before sizing a heat pump. A flat may have no room for a hot water cylinder, and the freeholder normally has a say on the outdoor unit, which can tip the choice towards air-to-air. London homes can be short of space for an outdoor unit and cylinder, which affects the choice of heat pump.
If you live near London Victoria station, the survey compares air-to-water and air-to-air for your home before anything is quoted. With Apsley House about 0.4 miles north, it’s worth asking whether your own home is listed before planning a heat pump.

Questions from Belgravia
Does the Boiler Upgrade Scheme cover homes in Belgravia?
Belgravia is covered, as the scheme runs across England and Wales. The grant is £7,500 for an air source (air-to-water) heat pump and £2,500 for an air-to-air system that replaces the existing fossil-fuel heating. We hold MCS certification, so the application is ours to make for you.
Is planning permission needed for a heat pump in Belgravia?
That depends on the building and where the outdoor unit goes. Central Belgravia sits inside the Belgravia Conservation Area. Heat pumps on houses are often permitted development, but listed buildings need consent and conservation areas restrict outdoor units facing a road. Where it’s needed, we check with the planning department at Westminster council, normally the authority for Belgravia.
How much time does a heat pump install need?
Expect it to take a few days for most air-to-water installations, with air-to-air systems often quicker. How much of the heating changes decides most of the time, and we confirm the timing with your quote.
What does an air-to-water heat pump cost?
Expect £8,000–£16,000 for an air-to-water system, with 0% VAT on homes, before the grant is taken off. Where you land depends on the size of heat pump, any radiators that need changing and the hot water cylinder. Air-to-air is priced after a survey.
Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?
The F-gas rules share it between the equipment’s operator and the engineers who work on it. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e.
Will I get records for the system?
Yes. Every visit is written up, and any work on the refrigerant circuit goes in the F-Gas records. File them with the system’s paperwork.
Why use an F-Gas certified company?
Companies working on equipment that contains F gas must be certified by an approved body, and each engineer needs the right qualifications too. It means the refrigerant in your system is handled legally.
From one of our customers
“Excellent service from start to finish. Two wall-mounted units installed in our home. Clean, tidy work: they protected all the floors and left no mess. The systems work brilliantly. Would highly recommend.”
