About air conditioning in EN1
Think of it as diagnose, treat and sign off: the survey diagnoses what the rooms need, the installation is the treatment and commissioning is the sign-off. At sign-off, the system is tested in each mode, the controls are explained and the F-Gas records are left with you. Typical jobs include too many options and no clear advice and rooms that get too hot to sleep or work in, on air-to-air heat pumps, ducted systems and wall-mounted split systems.
Refrigerant work is done by qualified engineers working for an F-Gas certified company, while the electrical side is covered by our NICEIC approval. On the day, both are in the same hands. On site, it takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access.
- First the diagnosis: a survey of the rooms, the walls, the outside and the electrics.
- Next, a recommendation for each room and a fixed price.
- The treatment: units fitted, pipework and drain routed, and the electrics installed.
- Testing: the circuit is pressure tested and evacuated before the refrigerant is released.
- Finally, the clean bill of health: commissioning, the controls explained and your paperwork handed over.
What affects the price in EN1
Leaving a fault or an overdue service rarely makes the work cheaper. Small problems, from blocked filters to slow leaks, tend to get worse, and a struggling system uses more electricity to do less. If you are unsure, give us a ring on 07833 053749 or email us and we will give you an honest view and a fixed price.
Why people in EN1 choose us

How to get a quote
Here’s what helps us quote: where the property is and what kind of building it is, a few photos, the make and model of any existing system and any symptoms, from error codes to drips. Once you have those, ring 07833 053749 or drop us a line.

Air conditioning across EN1: local notes
In EN1, we install in places such as Edmonton, Enfield and Bush Hill Park and well beyond. We cover every place we list for EN1, 14 in all.
Our area stretches from Greater London through Surrey, Kent and Sussex to Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex, and EN1 sits within it. One phone number covers all of it.
Enfield: Forty Hall (roughly 1.3 miles north-east) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on. Older streets near Church of St Andrew may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes.
Common problems we fix in EN1
Commercial spaces gain heat from people, equipment, lighting and glazing. Keeping staff and customers comfortable is typically what prompts the call, along with keeping equipment rooms at a steady temperature.
Most people get in touch when they notice something like this:
- Expensive direct electric heating
- Not knowing which system, size or brand to choose
- Fans and portables that don’t keep up
- A home office that warms up with screens and equipment
System by system
Multi-split systems
Indoor units on a multi-split do not all have to look the same, choosing what suits each room, as the manufacturer allows. We plan the mix on the survey.
Pipework and condensate drains
The indoor and outdoor units are joined by insulated refrigerant pipes, a cable and a condensate drain. The route is agreed before any drilling and kept as tidy as the building allows.
Keeping the system healthy
Think of this as the after-treatment advice, in brief:
- Avoid setting it far colder than you need
- Close windows and doors while the system is cooling
- Leave space around the outdoor unit
- Wash or vacuum the filters as the manual describes
You get the paperwork that matters: F-Gas records, commissioning details and the manufacturer’s warranty terms. Keep them with the manual, because the manufacturer or a future engineer may ask to see them.
Give the outdoor unit room to breathe. Leaves, plants, bins and stored items around it restrict the airflow, and the system has to work harder as a result.
When it’s something else
In fairness, some problems need a different answer:
- Stuffy rooms that need fresh air rather than cooling
- Gas boiler or central heating faults (we don’t work on gas boilers)
- Work that needs permission from a landlord or the council
FAQs for EN1
Do I need a new electrical circuit?
Most systems need their own supply from the consumer unit. Adding a new circuit is notifiable building work under Part P unless it’s done by a registered competent person, and as NICEIC approved contractors we install and certify it as part of the job.
Do you survey before quoting?
Yes. Photos often do the job for simple work, while larger systems and faults that need testing are seen on site.
Where does the outdoor unit go?
We agree it with you on the survey. It needs space around it to breathe and room for an engineer to service it, and walls or roofs facing a road can raise planning questions. We explain the options and any permissions to check.
Do I need planning permission?
It depends on the system and the property. Heat pumps on houses in England can be permitted development when they meet set conditions, including the MCS 020(a) noise check, but a cooling-only unit isn’t covered, so check with the council. Listed buildings, conservation areas and flats have extra limits. This is general information, not legal advice.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. From a single let flat to offices, shops and public buildings, we work the same way: survey or diagnosis, a fixed price and proper paperwork.
Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?
Whoever operates the equipment, together with the technicians who service it. Larger systems need regular checks: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We will work out which band applies to yours.
Do you work on systems someone else installed?
Yes. We look at it first and tell you what we find, including any issues with how it was fitted. Any work is priced before it goes ahead.
