About air conditioning in EC1N
Thinking about air conditioning but not sure where to start? Just phone 07833 053749 with photos of the rooms and the outside of the property, and we’ll reply the same working day about a survey or a fixed-price quote. The work covers multi-split systems, air-to-air heat pumps and ducted systems, and the jobs we see most are a study or office that overheats during the day and a room that’s unbearable on warm days.
The first job on site is protection: sheets over the floor and any furniture nearby and nothing is moved without asking you. After that, anything electrical is made safe and we start. It takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer, and we tidy up before we leave.
- You send pictures, or we visit and survey the rooms and outside.
- Output, positions and price are settled before anything is booked.
- Sheets go down first, then the indoor unit and the condenser are mounted.
- Connections are made, checked for leaks and pulled down to a vacuum.
- The system is commissioned, the controls explained and the F-Gas records handed over.
What affects the price in EC1N
Homes, offices, shops and public buildings are all priced the same way: the equipment, the access, the work involved and the time it takes. Call for a fixed-price quote and we’ll explain each part.
Why choose AirCon Doctor

Getting a quote
Published ranges are a starting point; the quote is built on your property, because no two buildings, rooms or systems are the same. Once we’ve looked at the job, from pictures or on a survey, you get a fixed price. To get going, call us on 07833 053749 or email us.

Air conditioning across EC1N: local notes
Across EC1N, from Blackfriars and Temple Bar to the villages, homes range from older terraces and cottages to new estates and flats. We survey every property before we quote.
An F-Gas certified company does the refrigerant side, while NICEIC approval covers the electrical work.
Blackfriars: Dr Johnson's House, about 0.2 miles north-west, is one of the historic houses nearby, and if your own home is listed, consent comes before any air conditioning is fixed to it. Close to London Blackfriars station? A small study or box room used for work can usually be cooled with a single indoor unit.
Different systems, different jobs
Outdoor unit positions
We think about noise when we choose the spot: away from bedroom windows and neighbours’ windows where possible, and on anti-vibration mounts. It can also affect whether planning permission is needed.
Wall-mounted split systems
For one room, a wall-mounted split is often the simplest answer. One unit inside, one outside, connected by pipework, a cable and a drain, with the route agreed on the survey.
Looking after it afterwards
Here’s the after-treatment advice, short and simple:
- Report drips, noises or error codes right away
- Wash or vacuum the filters as the manual describes
- Close windows and doors while the system is cooling
- Keep to the service interval the manufacturer recommends
An annual service keeps the system running efficiently, and some manufacturers make regular servicing a condition of their warranty. We’ll remind you when it’s due if you’d like.
Book an annual service. A service cleans what you can’t reach and picks up faults before they stop the system, and it keeps any warranty servicing conditions in order.
What owners can safely do
Owner care supports servicing; it doesn’t replace it. Simple care keeps the air moving through the system, but the inside of the units, the refrigerant and the electrics still need a qualified engineer.
Owners can handle the everyday basics: keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter, check the settings and the remote, and follow the cleaning the manual describes. Opening up the units, the electrics and the refrigerant circuit are a job for us.
What happens if it’s left?
The outdoor unit’s position is worth getting right first time. Placing it well keeps noise away from bedrooms and boundaries and makes servicing easier, and it can affect whether planning permission is needed. It’s agreed on the survey, not on the day.
What your quote should include
- Proof of F-Gas company certification
- Whether they looked at the job before pricing it
- If the figure could change on the day
- What records you get at the end
EC1N questions
Are you F-Gas certified?
We hold F-Gas company certification, which the law requires for any business working on refrigerant. NICEIC approval, MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership sit alongside it.
Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?
The F-gas rules share it between the equipment’s operator and the engineers who work on it. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least yearly for 5 to under 50 tCO2e, and every 6 months for 50 to under 500 tCO2e.
How long does air conditioning installation take?
Allow anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system. We confirm the time when we quote so there are no surprises.
Why does F-Gas certification matter?
Anyone installing, repairing or servicing the refrigerant side must be qualified, and their company certified. It’s worth checking before booking, and we are happy to show ours.
Can I do the refrigerant work myself?
Not the refrigerant work. The F-gas rules require certified companies and qualified engineers for it, and a new circuit is notifiable under Part P unless a registered electrician, such as a NICEIC approved contractor, does it.
Which brands do you work with?
Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi and others. For a new system, we suggest the make and model that suit the property and explain why.
Will you need to do electrical work?
In most cases, yes: a dedicated circuit is needed. Adding a new circuit is notifiable building work under Part P unless it’s done by a registered competent person, and as NICEIC approved contractors we install and certify it as part of the job.
