Air Conditioning across Kent

Air conditioning across Kent: what to expect

Wall-mounted, multi-split, ducted and cassette systems are all part of what we install, with VRF for larger buildings. The right choice depends on the rooms, the building and how visible you want the indoor units to be and we talk you through it on the survey. The work covers VRF systems, ceiling cassettes and air-to-air heat pumps, and the jobs we see most are uncertainty over the right type and size of system and an ageing air conditioning system near the end of its life.

Our engineers bring the tools, gauges and access equipment the job needs. All we ask is clear access to the units, or to where they’ll go, and to the consumer unit. On site, the work takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system.

  1. Diagnosis comes first, with a survey of the rooms, outside space and fuse board.
  2. Then the prescription: the right system and size for each room, on a fixed-price quote.
  3. The treatment: units fitted, pipework and drain routed, and the electrics installed.
  4. Checks: a pressure test for leaks, then a vacuum to clear moisture.
  5. The sign-off: commissioning, a walk through the controls, and the F-Gas records and warranty details.

Pricing in Kent

No two properties are the same, so each one gets its own fixed-price quote. The equipment, how we reach it, the route between units and the work needed all make a difference.

Getting a price

Every quote shows the VAT clearly, and the rate that applies to your job is stated. Homes, businesses and different kinds of work can be treated differently for VAT, so we confirm it on the quote. To get one, phone 07833 053749 or drop us a line.

Landmarks near Maidstone

We fit and service air conditioning in homes and premises around Paper Makers Arms, Maidstone Grammar School and St Philip's Church and the streets around them. Nearby too are River Len LNR (less than half a mile north-east), South Borough Primary School (under half a mile south) and St Augustine Academy (1.2 miles west). Maidstone’s nearest station is Maidstone West station, about 0.6 miles north-west of the centre. A little further out are Maidstone Carriage Museum (less than half a mile north-west) and Oakwood Hospital (1.8 miles west). Open spaces near Maidstone include Burham Down and Boxley Hills.

Air conditioning around Kent

In Kent, as across England, the same permitted development rules apply: cooling-only units aren’t covered, listed buildings need consent and conservation areas restrict outdoor units facing a road.

From London flats to coastal homes and country cottages, London and the South East have every kind of property. Our work is F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved for the electrics and MCS certified for heat pumps. In the coastal parts of Kent, outdoor units benefit from a sheltered position and regular servicing.

Maidstone: Close to Maidstone West station? A small study or box room used for work can usually be cooled with a single indoor unit. Around St Philip's Church, a quick check of the listing and conservation maps is part of planning any install.

Leave it or put it right?

Putting up with another summer of portable units and fans rarely makes sense. A properly installed split moves heat outside, keeps the noisy parts out of the room and most of the time heats too, so it earns its keep all year.

Comparing quotes

  • Proof of F-Gas company certification
  • Whether they looked at the job before pricing it

Pricing air conditioning in Kent

Before we fix a price, we need to know a few things. We look at:

  • The electrical supply and whether a new circuit is needed
  • The condition of any existing system
  • A single visit or a regular plan
  • How far the pipework has to run, and where

Putting several jobs into one visit often makes better use of the time. Tell us about everything you’d like looked at and we’ll price it together.

What to send for a quote

To speed up the quote, please include:

  • A close-up of the unit’s label showing the model number
  • The postcode and whether it’s a home, flat or business
  • The outdoor side of the property, including any roof or flat area
  • A short video of any fault, such as a noise or a flashing light

Published ranges are a starting point; the quote is built on your property, because every property is different. Once we have looked at the job, from pictures or on a survey, you get a fixed price. To get going, ring us on 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form.

Looking after your system

To keep the system working properly:

  • Keep the F-Gas records, commissioning details and warranty information together
  • Keep the indoor unit’s filters clean
  • Shut doors and windows when it’s on
  • Let filters dry fully before you put them back

Before we leave, the system is commissioned and tested in each mode. Once it’s running properly, we take you through the controls and settings, so you are confident using it.

Book an annual service. A service cleans what you cannot reach and picks up faults before they stop the system, and it keeps any warranty servicing conditions in order.

What air conditioning cannot fix

It’s worth knowing the limits before booking:

  • Problems with a gas boiler or the radiators
  • Building damp that has a structural cause
  • A lack of fresh air (most split systems recirculate room air rather than bringing fresh air in, which is a job for ventilation)

Kent: your questions answered

How do I know what size unit to get?

Floor area is only part of it. Windows, the direction the room faces, the roof above and the people and equipment in it all count and the survey covers each of them.

Is planning permission needed for the outdoor unit?

Not always. Permitted development can cover a heat pump on a house, including an air-to-air system that heats as well as cools since 2025, provided the conditions are met. Permission is more likely to come up for cooling-only units, listed buildings, flats and road-facing positions in conservation areas and the survey picks it up. This is general information, not legal advice.

Can I do any of the installation myself?

No, not the refrigerant side. The F-gas rules require certified companies and qualified engineers for it, and a new electrical circuit is notifiable building work unless a registered competent person does it.

How long does air conditioning installation take?

It takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems. We confirm the time when we quote, so you can plan around it.

Which type of system should I choose?

Number of rooms, space outside and how much of the unit you want to see all decide it. Ducted units need a void or loft, and cassettes need a suspended ceiling and the survey confirms what’s possible.

Which brands do you work with?

Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi and others. For a new system, we suggest the make and model that suit the property and tell you why.

Will you make a mess?

Protection goes down first: dust sheets over floors and anything close to the work. Holes and fixings are agreed with you, and we clean up afterwards when we finish.
