About air conditioning in CT2
We approach an installation much as a doctor approaches a patient: the survey diagnoses what the rooms need, the installation is the treatment and commissioning is the sign-off. The sign-off includes testing every mode, showing you the controls and handing over the F-Gas records. Common call-outs are for commercial rooms that are too warm for staff and fans and portables that don’t keep up, across air-to-air heat pumps, ceiling cassettes and ducted systems.
Anything involving refrigerant is handled by F-Gas qualified engineers, as the law requires, and electrical work is done by us as NICEIC approved contractors. So on the day, you do not need a separate electrician for the electrical side. The work takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access.
- Diagnosis comes first, with a survey of the rooms, outside space and fuse board.
- Then the prescription: the right system and size for each room, on a fixed-price quote.
- Then the work: units up, pipes and drain run, and a new circuit where necessary.
- Testing: the circuit is pressure tested and evacuated before the refrigerant is released.
- The sign-off: commissioning, a walk through the controls, and the F-Gas records and warranty details.
What you’ll pay
A single unit or a whole estate, the quote is built the same way: the work involved, the access and the equipment. You’ll have a fixed price before we start, with VAT shown clearly.
Why choose AirCon Doctor

Getting a quote
Every quote shows the VAT clearly, and the rate that applies to your job is stated. Homes, businesses and different kinds of work can be treated differently for VAT, so we confirm it on the quote. For a fixed-price quote, ring us on 07833 053749.
Landmarks near Sturry
Around Sturry, our work takes us to homes and businesses near The Swan Inn, Spires Academy and Chequer's Wood and Old Park and the streets around them. Other local landmarks include Sturry Church of England Primary School (less than half a mile north-east), St Nicholas' Church (0.5 miles south) and Frank Montgomery School (1.2 miles east). Sturry has its own railway station: Sturry station. A little further out are Canterbury Roman Museum (2.6 miles south-west) and St Martins Hospital (2.1 miles south). Not far away are West Blean and Thornden Woods.
Air conditioning across CT2
In CT2, as across England, the same permitted development rules apply: an air-to-air system that heats as well as cools can be permitted development on a house, but cooling-only units, listed buildings and outdoor units facing a road in conservation areas need more care.
We reply to enquiries from CT2 the same working day, with a 24/7 emergency line for breakdowns. CT2 includes coastal places, where salt in the air speeds up corrosion of outdoor coils and fixings. Outdoor unit position and regular servicing both help near the sea.
Sturry: Homes near St Nicholas' Church are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it. If you work from home near Sturry station, a home office that overheats is one of the easiest rooms to cool.
Looking after your system
Looking after the system is mostly common sense. A few tips:
- Keep to the service interval the manufacturer recommends
- Keep the F-Gas records, commissioning details and warranty information together
- Refit filters properly after cleaning
- Keep the indoor unit’s filters clean
If anything is not right after we have gone, call us on the same number. Let us know what’s happening and any error code and we’ll help you sort it out.
Keep the outdoor unit clear. Leaves, plants, bins and stored items around it restrict the airflow, which makes the whole system less efficient.
When it’s something else
To be straight with you, there are a few things this work will not fix:
- A building fabric problem such as single glazing or no loft insulation
- Work that needs permission from a landlord or the council
- A lack of fresh air (most split systems recirculate room air rather than bringing fresh air in, which is a job for ventilation)
What the work involves, system by system
Pipework and condensate drains
We pressure test and evacuate the pipework before the system is charged, which keeps moisture and air out of the circuit. The results go into the commissioning records.
Wall-mounted split systems
A single-room split is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT, with supply, fitting, commissioning and the F-Gas paperwork included. Long pipe runs, difficult access and a new circuit affect where your job sits in the range.
How we price air conditioning
The quote reflects the job in front of us. We consider:
- Which make and model is being fitted or worked on
- The electrical supply and whether a new circuit is needed
- How far the pipework has to run, and where
- Whether it’s a simple split or a larger system
The pipe route, the height of the units and how we reach them can all change the price. Each of those is built into the quote, and the price is fixed before work begins.
Asking for a quote
Simple jobs can often be priced from photos and some basics. Send what you can of the following:
- A close-up of the unit’s label showing the model number
- A few pictures of the room and the wall the unit is on, or will go on
- Any error code or flashing light on the display
- The outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits or would go
To get a fixed-price quote, phone us on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier and tell us about the property and what you need. A few pictures make it quicker. We reply to enquiries the same working day.
FAQs for CT2
Will you work on another installer’s system?
Yes. We look at it first and tell you what we find, including any issues with how it was fitted. Any work is priced before it goes ahead.
How do you keep the place clean during the work?
We put dust sheets over floors and furniture near the work first, and we tidy up as we go. At the end, we clear up and show you what we’ve done.
How long does it take to fit air conditioning?
It takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system. The survey tells us how long your installation will need, so you can plan around it.
How soon will you get back to me?
We reply to enquiries the same working day. If it’s an emergency, ring the 24/7 line instead.
Can I use air conditioning to heat a room?
In most cases, yes: modern splits are normally heat pumps, so they can heat a room in winter. The Energy Saving Trust notes that air-to-air heat pumps are sometimes referred to as air conditioning. Some cooling-only models exist, so we confirm it for the model on your quote.
Can you set up regular servicing?
Yes. Tell us what you have and how it’s used and we will propose a schedule and quote for it. Leak checks required by the F-gas rules can be built in for larger systems.
Are you F-Gas certified?
We’re an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work and MCS certified for heat pumps. We’re members of Checkatrade too.
