Air conditioning in CT5

Air conditioning installation, repair, servicing and heat pumps in CT5, from our base in East Grinstead.

Air conditioning across CT5: what to expect

We fit wall-mounted splits, multi-split systems, ducted systems and ceiling cassettes, plus VRF systems for bigger commercial buildings. Which one suits you depends on the space, the building and how much of the unit you want to see, and we explain the options on the survey. The work covers air-to-air heat pumps, ducted systems and VRF systems, and people most often call us about a loft conversion that’s too warm to use and commercial rooms that are too warm for staff.

Where something has to be switched off during the work, we agree it with you first so it does not catch you out. In a business, work can often be done one area at a time. The work takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems.

  1. First the diagnosis: a survey of the rooms, the walls, the outside and the electrics.
  2. Then the prescription: the right system and size for each room, on a fixed-price quote.
  3. The treatment: units fitted, pipework and drain routed, and the electrics installed.
  4. Testing: the circuit is pressure tested and evacuated before the refrigerant is released.
  5. Finally, the clean bill of health: commissioning, the controls explained and your paperwork handed over.

Photos are enough for some jobs; others need a visit first. Bigger systems, commercial sites and awkward pipe routes are normally surveyed on site. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work is booked.

Air conditioning across CT5

CT5 is within the area we cover from our base in East Grinstead. Every job starts with a site survey or photos, then a fixed-price quote. Parts of CT5 are on or near the coast, where salt air is hard on outdoor units. Outdoor unit position and regular servicing both help near the sea.

Whitstable: If your home is in one of the older streets near Church of St John (Methodist), it’s worth checking whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before an install. If you commute from Whitstable station and work from home on other days, one wall-mounted unit in the home office is often all that is needed.

What we are called out for in CT5

Poor sleep is one of the most common reasons homeowners ask about air conditioning. Once a bedroom has soaked up heat during the day, opening a window may not bring the temperature down far enough, particularly when there’s no breeze.

Reasons to give us a call include:

  • Uncertainty over the right type and size of system
  • A study or office that overheats during the day
  • Bedrooms and offices that overheat in summer
  • A portable unit with a hose out of the window

Safe owner checks

Never try to top up, release or handle refrigerant yourself. Under the F-gas rules, engineers need their own qualifications and the company must be certified, and refrigerant lines can cause cold burns. If you suspect a leak, switch the system off and call us.

For air conditioning, cleaning the indoor unit’s filters is the main job owners can do, if the manual says so. With the power off, they lift out, can be vacuumed or rinsed and must be fully dry before they go back. On a heat pump, the equivalent is keeping the outdoor unit clear and checking the controls.

What air conditioning can’t fix

It’s worth knowing the limits before booking:

  • Draughts and missing insulation
  • A ventilation problem rather than a temperature problem
  • Damp from leaks or a lack of ventilation

Looking after it afterwards

Every system needs looking after, and most of it is easy. Our tips:

  • Keep to the service interval the manufacturer recommends
  • Let filters dry fully before you put them back
  • Shut doors and windows when it’s on
  • Leave space around the outdoor unit

An annual service keeps the system running efficiently, and some manufacturers make regular servicing a condition of their warranty. We will remind you when it’s due if you’d like.

Keep the outdoor unit clear. Leaves, plants, bins and stored items around it restrict the airflow, which makes the whole system less efficient.

FAQs for CT5

Do you provide F-Gas records?

Yes. Each visit is written up, and any work on the refrigerant circuit goes in the F-Gas records. Keep them with the manual and the warranty documents.

How do I know what size unit to get?

Sizing is done on the survey, room by room. Too small, and it runs flat out; too big, and it switches on and off and wastes energy, so we explain why we’ve chosen a particular output.

Do you work on all makes?

We install and work on the leading makes, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Tell us the make and model and we’ll take it from there.

Can I fit air conditioning or a heat pump myself?

Anything that involves the refrigerant needs an F-Gas qualified engineer from a certified company. That is the law, not just our preference, and it also matters for the manufacturer’s warranty. We are happy to quote for the full job, supply to commissioning.

Where does the outdoor unit go?

It can go on a wall bracket, at ground level or on a flat roof, chosen for the pipe route, airflow and access. We also think about noise near bedrooms and neighbours and position can affect planning.

Do you cover CT5?

Yes. We work across Greater London, Surrey, Kent, East and West Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex, CT5 included.

Do you offer maintenance contracts?

Yes. Send details of the systems and how they’re used and we’ll propose a schedule and quote for it. That can include the leak checks the F-gas rules require for larger systems.
