Ripple questions
Does being near the sea make a difference to air conditioning in Ripple?
It can. Ripple is within about 3 miles of the coast, and salt air speeds up corrosion on outdoor units. The outdoor unit position, its fixings and regular servicing all help near the sea.
Do you cover smaller places like Ripple?
We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. We are based in East Grinstead and plan each visit so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.
How do I know what size unit to get?
We size each room on the survey, from its size, glazing, orientation and use. Too small, and it runs flat out; too big, and it switches on and off and wastes energy, so we explain why we’ve chosen a particular output.
Do you offer emergency call-outs?
Yes, day and night. When you call, tell us the make, what’s happening and any error code, and we will talk you through the next steps.
Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?
Whoever operates the equipment, together with the technicians who service it. Systems below 5 tCO2e fall outside the set leak check intervals, while larger ones need checks at least every 12 months, or every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We can tell you which band your system falls into.
Do you protect the property while you work?
We put dust sheets over floors and furniture near the work first, and the area is kept tidy throughout. At the end, we clear up and show you what we have done.
What accreditations do you have?
F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved and MCS certified for heat pumps, plus Checkatrade membership. Engineers who handle refrigerant hold their own F-gas qualifications as well.
Air conditioning for homes and businesses in Ripple
The best installations are planned before a single hole is drilled. Each room is assessed for its size, windows, direction and how it’s used, and we agree the unit positions and the route for the pipes, cable and drain before you get a fixed-price quote. Need an air conditioning installer for Ripple? AirCon Doctor works across London and the South East from East Grinstead, as an F-Gas certified company with NICEIC approval.
Around Ripple, many people choose a system that heats as well as cools, which suits rooms the main heating doesn’t reach well, such as a garden room or loft.
Whatever the visit, you get a written record: commissioning details for an installation, a fault and repair note for a repair, or a record of the service. Keep it with the system’s paperwork so it’s to hand next time.

The process
Everything the job needs comes with us, from tools and test equipment to ladders and dust sheets. All we ask is clear access to the units, or to where they’ll go, and to the consumer unit. The visit takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system. Somewhere like Ripple, it helps to know about lanes, gates and where to park.
- First comes a site survey, or photos and measurements for a straightforward job.
- Cooling loads are worked out room by room, and the written price names the make, the model and every position.
- The indoor unit is fixed in place, the outside unit positioned, and the connecting runs put in tidily.
- Power is wired in, the joints are proved leak-tight under pressure and a vacuum pump draws out air and moisture.
- The system is commissioned and checked in every mode, and we hand over the controls, F-Gas records and warranty information.
Getting ready for the visit
- Make sure someone can let us in at the agreed time
- Clear the space around the indoor unit, or where it will go
- Let us know where the consumer unit is

Advice
How the job changes from property to property
Multi-split systems
A multi-split runs several indoor units from one outdoor unit. It saves wall space outside and suits homes where several rooms need cooling, with each room controlled separately.
Wall-mounted split systems
Bedrooms, offices and living spaces are where wall-mounted units are most often fitted. We choose the position for even airflow and easy filter access, and away from where the air would blow straight onto people.

When something else is needed
A few issues sit outside what this work can do:
- Damp from leaks or a lack of ventilation
- A building fabric problem such as single glazing or no loft insulation
- A ventilation problem rather than a temperature problem
If in doubt, give us a ring on 07833 053749 or email us and we will say what we think before you book.

Air conditioning in Ripple: local notes
Ripple is within about 3 miles of the coast. Some manufacturers offer anti-corrosion coated coils for coastal sites, and we will tell you if the model you choose has that option. The middle of Ripple is part of a conservation area. About 13 listed entries lie within half a mile of central Ripple, Church of St Mary the Virgin (grade II*) among them. If your property is listed or sits inside a conservation area, expect us to raise planning at the survey and to speak to Dover council, usually the planning authority here where it’s needed. Census 2021 figures found about 65% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Detached and semi-detached houses usually have space for the outdoor unit, and several rooms can share one on a multi-split.
Around Church of St Mary the Virgin, a quick check of the listing and conservation maps is part of planning any install. About 1.9 miles east stands Walmer Castle. Listed homes in any area need consent first, so tell us if yours is one.

Looking after your system
Think of this as the after-treatment advice, in brief:
- Use moderate settings for comfort and economy
- Keep the F-Gas records, commissioning details and warranty information together
- Report drips, noises or error codes right away
We recommend an annual service, and some manufacturers make servicing a warranty condition. We can remind you when it’s due, so it doesn’t get forgotten.
Book an annual service. The engineer cleans the coils and drain, checks the electrics and the refrigerant circuit and catches small problems early, and it keeps any warranty servicing conditions in order.
What a customer said
“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
