About air conditioning in CT17
Most modern split systems run as heat pumps, so they can heat as well as cool. The Energy Saving Trust recognises that air-to-air heat pumps often go by the name air conditioning, and a well-chosen system can earn its keep all year round. Typical jobs include too many options and no clear advice and rooms heated by plug-in heaters, on wall-mounted split systems, ducted systems and ceiling cassettes.
Each visit follows the same order: agree the plan on site, protect the area, do the work, check the system and explain it all to you. The visit itself takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer.
- We survey the property, or work from your pictures for a simple job.
- Output, positions and price are settled before anything is booked.
- Sheets go down first, then the indoor unit and the condenser are mounted.
- Connections are made, checked for leaks and pulled down to a vacuum.
- The system is commissioned, the controls explained and the F-Gas records handed over.
What you’ll pay
Every job is different, so we price each one individually. The system, the access, the pipe routes and the parts involved all make a difference.

Enquiries from CT17 get a reply on the working day they arrive. For a breakdown, use the 24/7 line. Near the coast in CT17, outdoor units last longer with shelter from sea wind and a yearly service, and some manufacturers offer corrosion-protected coils.
Dover: Older streets near Parish Church of St Andrew Buckland may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes. If you commute from Dover Priory station and work from home on other days, one wall-mounted unit in the home office is often all that is needed.
Why it fails
Rooms overheat mostly because of heat they gain during the day. Sun through large windows, roof lights and glazed doors is the biggest source in many rooms, and once the room has warmed up, it holds on to it into the evening.
The things we are asked about most are:
- A portable unit with a hose out of the window
- Uncertainty over the right type and size of system
- A loft room or top floor that bakes in summer
- An old system that needs replacing
System by system
Ceiling cassettes
A cassette sits flush in a suspended ceiling and spreads air in several directions and they’re a common choice for offices, shops and larger rooms.
Ducted systems
With a ducted system, the indoor unit sits out of sight above the ceiling, and all you see is a discreet grille. It’s popular where people do not want a unit on the wall.
After we have gone
Looking after the system is mostly common sense. Our tips:
- File the paperwork with the manual
- Have the system serviced once a year
- Keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter
- Flag any change in how the system sounds or performs
Questions after the installation go to the same number. Tell us what the system is doing, and any code on the display and we will help you sort it out.
Report drips, noises or error codes early. Water from the indoor unit, a new rattle or a code on the display normally means something needs attention, and early repairs are typically simpler.
Let and managed properties
We also work for facilities teams in offices, schools and public buildings in CT17 and across Kent. Larger buildings can be done in stages around the people who use them.
For anyone managing more than one building, we can quote and plan the work across all of them. Every address has its own paperwork, so each one has its own history.
Common questions in CT17
Does servicing affect my warranty?
That depends on the brand. Where servicing is a condition, a missed service could give the manufacturer grounds to refuse a claim and we will tell you what your brand asks for.
Which brands do you work with?
We install and work on the leading makes, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Send us the make and model if you have it.
Do you offer emergency call-outs?
Yes. For anything urgent, such as a system failing in a server room or water leaking from a unit, ring our 24/7 line and we’ll agree what happens next.
Who is responsible for leak checks?
Responsibility is shared between the operator, normally whoever owns or controls the equipment, and the service technicians. How often depends on the size of the refrigerant charge in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e.
Can you set up regular servicing?
Yes. We offer maintenance contracts, set at the interval the system and the manufacturer’s terms need. Each visit is recorded and F-Gas records kept where they apply.
How much does air conditioning installation cost?
For one room, a split system is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. Two rooms on a multi-split are typically £2,800–£4,500 + VAT, and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT, including supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation. You get a fixed price before any work starts.
Does air conditioning work as heating?
In most cases, yes. A heat pump moves heat from the outside air into the room, so it gives out more heat than the electricity it uses. To replace your main heating, there are extra conditions, including for the £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant for air-to-air heat pumps.
