About air conditioning in CT16
The best installations are planned before a single hole is drilled. Each room is assessed for its size, windows, direction and how it’s used, then agree where the indoor and outdoor units go and how the pipework, cable and condensate drain will run before you get a fixed-price quote. Typical jobs include a loft room or top floor that bakes in summer and old electric heaters you’d like to replace with something more efficient, on ceiling cassettes, wall-mounted split systems and air-to-air heat pumps.
You don’t need to do much on the day. Just let us in and point us to the units, or to where they’ll be fitted, and the rest is down to us. Before we leave, the area is tidied and we explain what we’ve done.
- You send pictures, or we visit and survey the rooms and outside.
- Output, positions and price are settled before anything is booked.
- We protect the area, then fit both halves of the system.
- Connections are made, checked for leaks and pulled down to a vacuum.
- We commission, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas and warranty paperwork.
Pricing in CT16
Height, access and the distance between the indoor and outdoor units all affect the cost. We take each of them into account, and the price is fixed before any work starts.

Getting a price
Every quote shows the VAT clearly, and the rate that applies to your job is stated. Homes, businesses and different kinds of work can be treated differently for VAT, so we confirm it in writing rather than guess. For a fixed-price quote, call us on 07833 053749.
Landmarks near Whitfield
Locally, jobs take us to houses, flats and workplaces close to St Edmund's Catholic School, Whitfield Aspen School and Church of St Peter, among other places. The nearest railway station is Kearsney station, roughly 1.2 miles south-west. Other landmarks nearby include Buckland Hospital (1.9 miles south) and Dover Transport Museum (0.7 miles south). Not far away are Dover Western Heights.
Where we install in CT16
Planning rules are the same across England, CT16 included: cooling-only units are not covered, listed buildings need consent and conservation areas restrict outdoor units facing a road.
An F-Gas certified company does the refrigerant side, and the electrics come under our NICEIC approval, in CT16 as everywhere else. Parts of CT16 are on or near the coast, where salt air is hard on outdoor units. Outdoor unit position and regular servicing both help near the sea.
Whitfield: Older streets near Church of St Peter may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes. Starting with one room is common, and the outdoor unit can be chosen with more rooms in mind.
Why it fails
Many people try a portable unit first. A portable unit has to vent its warm air through a hose out of a window, which lets some heat back in, and its compressor sits in the room with you. With a split system, the compressor lives outside.
Keep an eye out for these signs:
- Working from home in a room that gets too warm
- A loft conversion that is too warm to use
- A room that is unbearable on warm days
- Rooms heated by plug-in heaters
What happens if it’s left?
There’s a tax point for homes: HMRC zero-rates the installation of energy-saving materials in homes until 31 March 2027, after which the rate becomes 5%. Whether a particular system qualifies depends on the facts and we confirm the VAT on your quote. This is general information, not tax advice.
Questions to ask before booking
- Exactly what the price includes, from supply and fitting to commissioning
- Whether extra work needs your approval first
- If the figure could change on the day
- Why the equipment they’re quoting suits the job
When it’s something else
Air conditioning can’t fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It will not put right:
- An installation that needs consent nobody has given yet
- Problems with a gas boiler or the radiators
- Damp from leaks or a lack of ventilation
Aftercare tips
Looking after it is simple, and it helps at the next service:
- Choose a comfortable set temperature rather than the lowest
- Keep to the service interval the manufacturer recommends
- Refit filters properly after cleaning
- Keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter
The filters are the one part you will look after yourself, so we show you how. In busy periods, clean them every few weeks, or as the manual recommends, and keep space clear around the outdoor unit.
Do not ignore small changes. Water from the indoor unit, a new rattle or a code on the display typically means something needs attention and catching it early keeps the repair small.
CT16 questions
Can you fit air conditioning in a leasehold flat?
Often, yes, but there are extra steps. You’ll usually need the landlord’s or management company’s consent for the outdoor unit and the pipe route and the lease will say. Planning rules for flats are tighter too, and we flag anything that may need permission. This is general information, not legal advice.
How does the warranty work?
The manufacturer’s warranty, on the manufacturer’s terms. Each brand sets its own conditions and periods, so we explain them on your quote.
Do you work on all makes?
Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi and others. For a new system, we suggest the make and model that suit the property and tell you why.
How quickly will you reply?
You will hear from us the same working day. For a breakdown that can’t wait, call our 24/7 emergency line.
Which type of air conditioning is best?
It depends on the rooms and the building. A split suits one room, a multi-split several, a ducted system hides the unit, and a cassette spreads air across larger rooms. We recommend one on the survey and explain why.
Can I use air conditioning to heat a room?
Typically, yes. Running as a heat pump, it moves heat in from outside rather than making it from electricity alone. If you want it to replace your main heating, ask about air-to-air heat pumps and the conditions for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. From one rented home to commercial buildings, the approach is the same: survey or diagnosis, a fixed price and proper paperwork.
