Air conditioning in CT19: how it works
We install leading brands, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. We recommend a model on the survey and explain why it suits the room, along with the manufacturer’s warranty terms on your quote. The work covers ceiling cassettes, air-to-air heat pumps and ducted systems, and people most often call us about rooms heated by plug-in heaters and an ageing air conditioning system near the end of its life.
Think of the visit in three stages: look, put right and sign off. First we check the system or the space against the plan, then the work itself, and finally we test, record and explain. Most of the time goes on the middle part, and that takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems.
- We survey the property, or work from your photos for a simple job.
- The system is sized, positions are agreed and the price is fixed.
- Sheets go down first, then the indoor unit and the condenser are mounted.
- Connections are made, checked for leaks and pulled down to a vacuum.
- It’s switched on, checked and handed over with its records.

What’s near Cheriton
Locally, jobs take us to houses, flats and workplaces close to Pent Valley Technology College, Church of All Souls and White Lion pub and the streets around them. Nearby too are All Soul's Church of England Primary School (less than half a mile north-west), The Folkestone Academy (1.1 miles east) and Lower Leas Coastal Park (1.7 miles south-east). The closest station to Cheriton is Folkestone West station, about 0.6 miles south-east of the centre. A little further out are Sandgate Castle (1 mile south) and Elham Valley Countryside Centre And Railway Museum (1.3 miles north-west). The countryside around Cheriton includes Sugar Loaf Hill.
Air conditioning across CT19: local notes
In CT19, we install in places such as Folkestone, Cheriton and Newington and well beyond. Every place on our CT19 list (3 in all) is covered.
An F-Gas certified company does the refrigerant side, while NICEIC approval covers the electrical work. Parts of CT19 are on or near the coast, where salt air is hard on outdoor units. Outdoor unit position and regular servicing both help near the sea.
Cheriton: Plenty of people near Folkestone West station split the week between the train and a spare room, and that spare room is often the first to get a unit. Acrise Place, about 3.4 miles north, is one of the historic houses nearby, and if your own home is listed, consent comes before any air conditioning is fixed to it.
Rented and managed buildings
Bigger systems bring extra duties: systems with an effective rated output over 12 kW need a TM44 inspection by an accredited energy assessor at least every 5 years. We arrange the inspection, get the system ready and put right anything it picks up.
Portfolio owners often want one contractor and one number. Our area covers Greater London and the South East, so work at different addresses can be planned together and kept on a regular cycle.
What affects the quote in CT19
Our prices page gives typical ranges, and your quote is built on your job. The quote depends on:
- Whether it’s a simple split or a larger system
- What state the existing equipment is in
- Whether the existing supply is suitable
- The equipment or parts the job needs
No two properties are the same, so we price each one individually. The system, the access, the pipe routes and the parts involved all make a difference.
Helping us quote
What to send for a quote:
- The paperwork from the last service, if you have it
- Wide pictures of the room or the existing unit
- The rating plate or label on any existing unit
- Your consumer unit or fuse board
VAT is set out clearly on every quote, and the rate that applies to your job is stated. Homes, businesses and different kinds of work can be treated differently for VAT, so we confirm it in writing rather than guess. To get one, ring us on 07833 053749 or use the quote form.
Leave it or put it right?
Refrigerant rules have changed what new systems use. From 2025, single splits under 3 kg cannot use refrigerants with a GWP over 750, so new splits use refrigerants such as R32, with a GWP of 675. Older R410A systems have a GWP of 2088.
Questions to ask before booking
- Whether they hold F-Gas company certification, not just individual qualifications
- The make and model of any parts or equipment being quoted
- Whether a new circuit is included and who certifies it
- How extra work would be agreed if they find something unexpected
What the work involves, system by system
Multi-split systems
You can mix indoor unit types on many multi-split systems: a wall unit in one room, a ducted or floor unit in another, depending on the model. The survey settles which units go where.
Pipework and condensate drains
After the pipework is fitted, the refrigerant circuit is pressure tested and evacuated, which keeps moisture and air out of the circuit. The results go into the commissioning records.
Common questions in CT19
Can I use air conditioning to heat a room?
Normally, yes. A heat pump moves heat from the outside air into the room, so it gives out more heat than the electricity it uses. To replace your main heating, there are extra conditions, including for the £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant for air-to-air heat pumps.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. From one rented home to commercial buildings, we work the same way: a look first, a fixed-price quote and written records.
Do you look at the job first?
Yes. Every job is looked at first, on a survey, or from your photos and details where the job is simple. A fixed-price quote follows.
Which type of system should I choose?
There’s no single best type. A split suits one room, a multi-split several, a ducted system hides the unit, and a cassette spreads air across larger rooms. The survey ends with a recommendation and the reasons.
Do you protect the property while you work?
Protection goes down first: dust sheets over floors and anything close to the work. Any drilling is agreed with you first, and we clear up the dust and offcuts when we finish.
Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?
Responsibility is shared between the operator, typically whoever owns or controls the equipment, and the service technicians. How often depends on the size of the refrigerant charge in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least yearly for 5 to under 50 tCO2e, and every 6 months for 50 to under 500 tCO2e.
How does the warranty work?
The manufacturer’s warranty, on the manufacturer’s terms. Each brand sets its own conditions and periods, so we explain them on your quote.
