Air con installers in Durlock

Most modern split systems run as heat pumps, so they can heat as well as cool. The Energy Saving Trust notes that air-to-air heat pumps are sometimes referred to as air conditioning, and a well-chosen system can earn its keep all year round. Whether you call it air con, air conditioning or an air-to-air heat pump, in Durlock it means the same thing to us: the right unit in the right place, fitted and commissioned properly.

In a village like Durlock, many homes are older, and some are listed. That matters, because a listed home needs consent and permitted development rules do not apply to it.

Some warranty terms depend on the system being serviced regularly by a qualified engineer. Where yours does, a regular service with us keeps that side in order, and every service is written up.

When something else is needed

An honest diagnosis matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what air conditioning will not do:

  • A lack of fresh air (most split systems recirculate room air rather than bringing fresh air in, which is a job for ventilation)
  • Central heating repairs
  • Damp or condensation caused by leaks or poor ventilation in the building (that needs the cause fixing)

If in doubt, call 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier and we will say what we think before you book.

FAQs for Durlock

Is Durlock in your area for air conditioning?

Yes. Durlock is one of the places we cover. Get in touch with the details and we reply the same working day.

Do you cover smaller places like Durlock?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Send a few details and photos, and we reply the same working day.

Can you fit air conditioning in a leasehold flat?

That depends on the lease, the building and where the outdoor unit could go. Balconies, flat roofs and rear walls can all work, subject to consent and the survey looks at every option. This is general information, not legal advice.

Can you come out in an emergency?

Yes. For anything urgent, such as a system failing in a server room or water leaking from a unit, ring our 24/7 line and we will tell you what to do first.

Will skipping a service affect the warranty?

That depends on the brand. Where servicing is a condition, a missed service could give the manufacturer grounds to refuse a claim and we will tell you what your brand asks for.

Where does the outdoor unit go?

It can go on a wall bracket, at ground level or on a flat roof, wherever the pipe route, airflow and servicing access work best. We also think about noise near bedrooms and neighbours and position can affect planning.

When will I hear back?

We reply to enquiries the same working day. For a breakdown that can’t wait, call our 24/7 emergency line.

Owner checks or an engineer?

On air conditioning, the filters in the indoor unit are typically the one part owners can clean where the manufacturer’s manual explains how. With the power off, they lift out, can be vacuumed or rinsed and must be fully dry before they go back. For a heat pump, the main owner jobs are a clear outdoor unit and sensible control settings.

Some faults have simple causes you can check first: check the mode, the set temperature, the remote’s batteries and the breaker. If the breaker trips a second time, leave it off and ring us on 07833 053749 or drop us a line.

What an install looks like in Durlock

Durlock’s centre falls inside a designated conservation area. Historic England lists about 9 buildings and structures within half a mile of the centre of Durlock, including School Farm House (grade II*). Before any outdoor unit is fixed here, we find out whether the building is protected. Where it is, Dover council, normally the planning authority here has the final say on what’s allowed. About 37% of homes in the Durlock area were built before 1919, according to VOA council tax data, and Census 2021 figures found about 78% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Older homes often have solid walls, which take longer to core drill, so we plan pipe routes carefully and keep them as discreet as we can. Houses normally have a side or rear wall with room for the outdoor unit, and a multi-split can serve several rooms from one outdoor unit.

About 2.7 miles south-west stands Goodnestone Park. Listed homes in any area need consent first, so tell us if yours is one. If your home is in one of the older streets near Church of St Nicholas, it’s worth checking whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before an install.

How the visit works

Anything involving refrigerant is handled by F-Gas qualified engineers, as the law requires, and electrical work is done by us as NICEIC approved contractors. So on the day, you don’t need a separate electrician for the electrical side. The work takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system. Rural lanes and tight entrances are worth mentioning before a visit to Durlock.

  1. You send photos, or we visit and survey the rooms and outside.
  2. Output, positions and price are settled before anything is booked.
  3. Sheets go down first, then the indoor unit and the condenser are mounted.
  4. Pipework, cable and drain are run, the circuit is connected and the pipework is pressure tested and evacuated.
  5. The system is commissioned, the controls explained and the F-Gas records handed over.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know if the units are on a roof, a high wall or in a locked area
  • Make sure we can reach the outdoor unit, or where it will go
  • Arrange for someone to be there to let us in

Getting a quote

The quickest way to a quote is to send pictures: the inside and outside of the property where the work is, plus the rating plate of any unit already there. Tell us the address and what you need, and simple jobs can often be priced without a visit.

How the job changes from property to property

Multi-split systems

You can mix indoor unit types on many multi-split systems: a wall unit in one room, a ducted or floor unit in another, as the manufacturer allows. We plan the mix on the survey.

Ducted systems

Ducted air conditioning hides the indoor unit in a ceiling void or loft, and all you see is a discreet grille. It’s popular where people don’t want a unit on the wall.

From one of our customers

“Very professional from the initial survey through to installation. The engineer explained everything clearly and the quote was exactly what we paid. Would not hesitate to recommend AirCon Doctor.”
