Need air conditioning in Tonbridge?

About our air conditioning in Tonbridge

Most modern split systems run as heat pumps, so they can heat as well as cool. The Energy Saving Trust makes the same point: an air-to-air heat pump is what many people simply call air conditioning, so a well-chosen unit can be useful in winter as well as summer. Need an air conditioning installer for Tonbridge? AirCon Doctor works across London and the South East from East Grinstead, as an F-Gas certified company with NICEIC approval.

Sizing is where cheap installs go wrong: the survey covers room size, glazing, insulation and how the room is used, so the unit is not too big or too small.

Most houses around Tonbridge have a side or back wall, or a patch of ground, where the outdoor unit can go. We keep it away from bedroom windows next door and run the pipework as neatly as we can, either hidden inside or boxed in trunking outside.

Warranty on the equipment is the manufacturer’s own, on the manufacturer’s terms, and we set them out on your quote. Terms differ from brand to brand, so we go through them with you rather than leave you to find the small print.

The process

We book the visit for a day and time that suit you, and we let you know if plans need to move. On arrival, the engineer compares the job with the survey, your pictures or the details you gave us. Anything unexpected is raised with you before we go further. From there, the work takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system. For a visit in Tonbridge, tell us how to reach the outside wall or the outdoor unit.

  1. Diagnosis comes first, with a survey of the rooms, outside space and fuse board.
  2. Next, a recommendation for each room and a fixed price.
  3. The treatment: units fitted, pipework and drain routed, and the electrics installed.
  4. Checks: a pressure test for leaks, then a vacuum to clear moisture.
  5. The sign-off: commissioning, a walk through the controls, and the F-Gas records and warranty details.

How to prepare

  • Have the make and model of any existing unit to hand
  • Make sure we can reach the consumer unit or fuse board
  • Arrange for someone to be there to let us in

Advice

Safe owner checks

There are a few things you can safely do yourself: keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter, check the settings and the remote, and follow the cleaning the manual describes. Anything inside the units, the electrics and the refrigerant is engineer’s work.

On air conditioning, the filters in the indoor unit are usually the one part owners can clean, if the manual says so. With the power off, they lift out, can be vacuumed or rinsed and must be fully dry before they go back. For a heat pump, the main owner jobs are a clear outdoor unit and sensible control settings.

Why act early in Tonbridge

New systems now use lower-impact refrigerants. From 2025, single splits under 3 kg cannot use refrigerants with a GWP over 750, which is why R32, with a GWP of 675, is now common. R410A, used in many older systems, has a GWP of 2088. Booking in spring means a home in Tonbridge is ready for summer.

What you pay depends on the type of system and how many units are involved, the access and what the work involves. We give you a fixed price before work begins, so there are no surprises.

Why book with us

  • Fixed-price quotes after a survey or pictures
  • An F-Gas certified company, as the law requires
  • Enquiries answered the same working day
  • Electrical work covered by our NICEIC approval

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

Bigger systems bring extra duties: systems with an effective rated output over 12 kW need a TM44 inspection by an accredited energy assessor at least every 5 years. We can arrange it, prepare the system for it and fix what it finds.

Facilities teams in offices, schools and public buildings book us too across Kent. Work can be phased by floor, zone or building to keep disruption down.

Tonbridge: your questions answered

Do you cover Tonbridge for air conditioning?

We do: Tonbridge falls inside our working area. To start, give us a ring on 07833 053749 or email us with a few photos.

Can I fit air conditioning in Tonbridge without planning permission?

That depends on the building and where the outdoor unit goes. The centre of Tonbridge is in the Tonbridge Conservation Area. A system that heats as well as cools may not need an application on a house, provided it stays within the permitted development limits. Cooling-only units get no such allowance, and listed buildings and road-facing positions in conservation areas need more care. We speak to Tonbridge and Malling council, which is usually the planning authority for Tonbridge when it matters.

Can landlords and managing agents book you?

Yes. From one rented home to commercial buildings, the approach is the same: a look first, a fixed-price quote and written records.

Do you survey before quoting?

Yes. We always look before we price, on a survey, or from your pictures and details where the job is simple. Then you get a fixed-price quote.

Why does F-Gas certification matter?

For refrigerant work, both the engineer and the company need the right F-gas credentials. It’s worth checking before you book, and we’re happy to show ours.

What accreditations do you have?

As the law requires for refrigerant work, we’re an F-Gas certified company. NICEIC approval, MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership sit alongside it.

Do you offer emergency call-outs?

Yes. There’s a 24/7 emergency line for problems that can’t wait for a planned visit. Call 07833 053749 and tell us what’s happened.

Air conditioning in Tonbridge: local notes

About 35% of homes in and around Tonbridge have been built since 2000, according to the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures. Newer homes typically have cavity walls and loft space that make pipe runs easier, though some estates have planning conditions or covenants worth checking.

Ightham Mote, about 4.1 miles north, is one of the historic houses nearby, and if your own home is listed, consent comes before any air conditioning is fixed to it. If you commute from Tonbridge station and work from home on other days, one wall-mounted unit in the home office is often all that’s needed.
