About air conditioning in ME10
Most air conditioning needs its own electrical supply from the consumer unit. Adding a new circuit is notifiable building work under Part P unless it’s done by a registered competent person, and our NICEIC approval means we install and certify it ourselves. The work covers wall-mounted split systems, air-to-air heat pumps and ducted systems, and the jobs we see most are working from home in a room that gets too warm and a business premises that overheats in summer.
The first job on site is protection: dust sheets over floors and furniture near the work, and we ask before moving anything. After that, anything electrical is made safe and we start. The work on site takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access, and we clear up before we go.
- We survey the rooms and the outside of the property, or work from photos and details for simple jobs.
- You receive one fixed figure covering the kit, the fitting and the positions we agreed.
- The indoor unit is fixed in place, the outside unit positioned, and the connecting runs put in tidily.
- Once the electrics are connected, the pipework is tested for leaks and put under vacuum before any refrigerant flows.
- Last comes the run-up: every mode checked, the controls explained and the paperwork left with you.
What you’ll pay
Height, access and the distance between the indoor and outdoor units all affect the cost. Each of those is built into the quote, and the price is fixed before any work starts.

The quickest way to a quote is to send pictures: the inside and outside of the property where the work is, plus the rating plate of any unit already there. Add the address and what you’d like done, and many jobs can be priced from that.

Nearby too are Church of the Holy Trinity (under half a mile south-west) and The Golden Hope pub (under half a mile south-west). Sittingbourne has its own railway station: Sittingbourne station. Air conditioning across ME10: local notes
In ME10, we install in places such as Sittingbourne, Murston and Kemsley and well beyond. We cover every place we list for ME10, 5 in all.
From London flats to coastal homes and country cottages, London and the South East have every kind of property. Our work is F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved for the electrics and MCS certified for heat pumps. ME10 includes coastal places, where salt in the air speeds up corrosion of outdoor coils and fixings. Outdoor unit position and regular servicing both help near the sea.
Sittingbourne: If you commute from Sittingbourne station and work from home on other days, one wall-mounted unit in the home office is often all that’s needed. Living close to Church of the Holy Trinity? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is.
Rented and managed buildings
For anyone managing more than one building, we can plan visits across the portfolio and price them together. Every address has its own paperwork, so the files stay tidy.
Under the GB F-gas rules, responsibility for leak checks is shared between whoever operates the equipment and the engineers who work on it. Where a building is let or managed, the lease or contract should make clear who looks after the system, and we can work for either side.
Keeping the system healthy
Think of this as the after-treatment advice, in brief:
- Tell us if the unit starts to leak, rattle or show a code
- Keep the room closed while it runs
- Clean the filters every few weeks when the system is in heavy use
- Keep the handover documents somewhere safe
We recommend an annual service, and some manufacturers make regular servicing a condition of their warranty. We’ll remind you when it’s due if you’d like.
Have the system serviced once a year. The engineer cleans the coils and drain, checks the electrics and the refrigerant circuit and catches small problems early, and it keeps any warranty servicing conditions in order.
What we’re called out for in ME10
Most overheating comes from heat gained through the day. Sunshine through glazing, especially on south and west-facing rooms, adds a lot of heat, and once the room has warmed up, it holds on to it into the evening.
It’s time to call us if you are dealing with:
- Portable units that are noisy and barely cope
- Rooms heated by plug-in heaters
- A home office that warms up with screens and equipment
- An old system that needs replacing
Honest limits
We’ll always give you a straight diagnosis, so here’s what this work cannot put right:
- A room that cannot take an outdoor unit or pipe route without the landlord’s, management company’s or council’s consent (that consent comes first)
- Heat loss through very poor insulation (a system will heat the room, but insulation is a separate job)
- Gas boiler or central heating faults (we don’t work on gas boilers)
Your questions about air conditioning in ME10
How much does air conditioning installation cost?
Typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT for a single-room split, depending on the room, the access and the pipe route. Long pipe runs, difficult access, a new circuit and premium indoor units push the price up, while commercial systems are priced after a survey.
Does servicing affect my warranty?
That depends on the brand. If servicing is in the terms, missing one could affect a claim, so we explain the terms on your quote.
Can I do any of the installation myself?
The refrigerant side has to be done by a qualified engineer working for an F-Gas certified company. That is the law, not just our preference, and manufacturers expect it for their warranty too. We are happy to quote for the full job, supply to commissioning.
How do you size the system?
It depends on the room, not only its floor area. Windows, the direction the room faces, the roof above and the people and equipment in it all count, and we take them all into account on the survey.
Should I choose wall-mounted, ducted or cassette?
There’s no single best type. A split suits one room, a multi-split several, a ducted system hides the unit, and a cassette spreads air across larger rooms. We recommend one on the survey and explain why.
Can the outdoor unit go on a roof or at ground level?
We agree it with you on the survey. It must have clear airflow and space for servicing, and walls or roofs facing a road can raise planning questions. We explain the options and any permissions to check.
Do you offer emergency call-outs?
Yes, 24/7. When you call, tell us the make, what’s happening and any error code, and we will advise on what to do next.
