Air conditioning for homes and businesses in Sheerness

We approach an installation much as a doctor approaches a patient: the survey diagnoses what the rooms need, the installation is the treatment and commissioning is the sign-off. The sign-off includes testing every mode, showing you the controls and handing over the F-Gas records. People searching for “air con near me” in Sheerness want two things: a sensible price and someone qualified. Our typical prices are on the site, and every install is done by F-Gas qualified engineers.

Around Sheerness, older cottages and newer houses can be very different to work on. Thick walls and beams mean planning the pipe route carefully, and a listed home needs consent before anything is fixed to it.

Whatever the visit, you get a written record: commissioning details and F-Gas records for a new system, a note of the fault and the fix for a repair, or a service record. Keep it with the system’s paperwork, because it helps with any later warranty question.

What you can do yourself, and what needs us

Some faults have simple causes you can check first: check the mode, the set temperature, the remote’s batteries and the breaker. If the breaker trips a second time, leave it off and ring us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk.

On air conditioning, the filters in the indoor unit are usually the one part owners can clean, if the manual says so. They come out, get a gentle clean and go back only when they’re dry. For a heat pump, the main owner jobs are a clear outdoor unit and sensible control settings.

What an install looks like in Sheerness

Sheerness is within about 1 mile of the coast. Some manufacturers offer anti-corrosion coated coils for coastal sites, and we will tell you if the model you choose has that option. Valuation Office Agency council tax records put about 51% of homes in Sheerness and the neighbourhoods around it before 1919, and Census 2021 figures found about 49% of households in terraced houses. Older homes often have solid walls, which take longer to core drill, so we plan pipe routes carefully and keep them as discreet as we can. With a terrace, the back wall or an extension roof is usually the best place for the outdoor unit.

Living close to Parish Church of the Holy Trinity? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is. Close to Sheerness-On-Sea station? A small study or box room used for work can normally be cooled with a single indoor unit.

Sheerness is about 7 miles north of Sittingbourne, in Kent. We cover Sheerness for air conditioning, along with the rest of Kent. In Kent alone we list 922 places, and Sheerness is one. Bromley, roughly 32 miles off, has its own page on this site.

All of ME12 is covered. Getting to Sheerness is easy by the A249 and A250. We also cover Blue Town (1 mile north-west), Halfway Houses (1 mile south-east), Queenborough (2 miles south), Rushenden (2 miles south-west) and Grain (2 miles north-west). Larger places within reach include Sittingbourne (7 miles south), Whitstable (13 miles south-east), Faversham (10 miles south-east) and Davington (10 miles south-east).

Sheerness: your questions answered

Do you cover smaller places like Sheerness?

Yes. Sheerness is within the area we cover across London and the South East. Send a few details and pictures, and we reply the same working day.

Do I need planning permission for air conditioning in Sheerness?

There’s no single answer: the building and the outdoor unit position decide it. There’s a conservation area, the Sheerness Mile Town Conservation Area, close to central Sheerness. An air-to-air system used for heating as well as cooling can be permitted development on a house if it meets the conditions, but a cooling-only unit isn’t covered, listed buildings need consent and conservation areas restrict outdoor units facing a road. Where needed, we check with Swale council, which is typically the planning authority for Sheerness.

How much does air conditioning installation cost?

For one room, a split system is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. A two-room multi-split is typically £2,800–£4,500 + VAT, and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT, including supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation. The price is fixed before work begins.

Do you work on commercial properties?

Yes. From one rented home to commercial buildings, we work the same way: survey or diagnosis, a fixed price and proper paperwork.

Will I get records for the system?

Yes. Every visit is written up, including F-Gas records for any refrigerant work. Keep them with the manual and the warranty documents.

Can the outdoor unit go on a roof or at ground level?

Wall brackets, ground level and flat roofs are all options, chosen for the pipe route, airflow and access. Noise near bedrooms and boundaries is part of the decision, and the position can affect planning.

Who is responsible for leak checks?

Whoever operates the equipment, together with the technicians who service it. Larger systems need regular checks: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We can tell you which band your system falls into.

When it’s something else

We’d rather tell you now than sell you work that will not help, so here are the limits:

  • Central heating repairs
  • Work that needs permission from a landlord or the council
  • A lack of fresh air (most split systems recirculate room air rather than bringing fresh air in, which is a job for ventilation)

Not sure which it is? You can call us on 07833 053749 or use the quote form and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Ducted systems
  • Air-to-air heat pumps
  • Wall-mounted split systems
  • Ceiling cassettes
  • Multi-split systems
  • VRF systems

The process

Where something has to be switched off during the work, we agree it with you first so it doesn’t catch you out. For businesses, we can typically work room by room or zone by zone. The work takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems. Let us know how to reach the outside wall or outdoor unit at your property near Sheerness.

  1. We survey the rooms and the outside of the property, or work from photos and details for simple jobs.
  2. Cooling loads are worked out room by room, and the written price names the make, the model and every position.
  3. The indoor unit is fixed in place, the outside unit positioned, and the connecting runs put in tidily.
  4. We connect the supply, pressure test the pipework and evacuate it before the refrigerant is released.
  5. Last comes the run-up: every mode checked, the controls explained and the paperwork left with you.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear access to the fuse board
  • Let us know where we can park and unload
  • Tell us about any building rules, permits or sign-in

Looking after your system

Every system needs looking after, and most of it is easy. A few tips:

  • Keep to the service interval the manufacturer recommends
  • Leave space around the outdoor unit
  • Never run the system with the filters out

Before we leave, the system is commissioned and tested in each mode. We check it’s running as the manufacturer intends, then show you the controls and the timer, so you’re confident using it.

Clean the filters regularly, not just at the service. Blocked filters cut airflow and make the system work harder, so it uses less electricity for the same comfort.

From one of our customers

“Excellent service from start to finish. Two wall-mounted units installed in our home. Clean, tidy work: they protected all the floors and left no mess. The systems work brilliantly. Would highly recommend.”
