Air conditioning in Hillborough

Air conditioning in Hillborough, done properly

Good air conditioning starts with the right system in the right place. We look at each room’s size, glazing, orientation and use, then agree where the indoor and outdoor units go and how the pipework, cable and condensate drain will run, all before the price is fixed. Need an air conditioning installer for Hillborough? AirCon Doctor works across London and the South East from East Grinstead, as an F-Gas certified company with NICEIC approval.

A typical install in Hillborough is an indoor unit high on an outside wall, a neat pipe run and an outdoor unit on a bracket or ground pad, with the drain run planned so it never drips where it shouldn’t.

A cottage and a newer house near Hillborough are very different jobs. Thick walls, low ceilings and beams need care with pipe routes, and if the home is listed, consent comes before any work.

The records are your system’s health record: what was fitted or found, what was done and when. It makes the next visit quicker and any warranty question simpler and it’s worth keeping safe.

Homes in Hillborough and air conditioning

At about 1 mile from the coast, Hillborough is close enough for sea air to matter. That is worth knowing for an install, as salt air speeds up corrosion on outdoor coils and fixings, so we choose the position and fixings with that in mind. About 82% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to Census 2021 figures. With homes like that, finding a sensible outdoor unit position is rarely hard, and a multi-split lets two or more rooms run off it.

Living close to Church of St Mary the Virgin? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is. Most people start with the room that gets hottest, then add more rooms on a multi-split if needed.

Hillborough is about 2 miles east of Herne Bay, in Kent. From the centre of Hillborough to the outskirts, our engineers cover air conditioning, from a single room to a whole building. 922 places in Kent are on our list. Bromley, roughly 50 miles off, has its own page on this site.

You will find Hillborough on the A299, which makes it straightforward for our engineers to reach. We cover every part of CT6 for air conditioning and the roads nearby. Places around Hillborough that are also on our list: Hawthorn (1 mile south-east), Bishopstone (1 mile north), Beltinge (1 mile north-west), Broomfield (1 mile south-west) and Highstead (1 mile south). Larger places within reach include Canterbury (7 miles south-west), Margate (9 miles east), Ramsgate (11 miles east) and Broadstairs (11 miles east).

FAQs for Hillborough

Will you come out to Hillborough?

We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. A few pictures and the postcode are enough to get things started.

Is air conditioning in Hillborough permitted development?

There’s no single answer: the building and the outdoor unit position decide it. The half-mile around the middle of Hillborough holds about 5 listed buildings and structures. Permitted development only covers heat pumps that aren’t used solely for cooling, and not within the grounds of a listed building. Conservation areas add limits on outdoor units facing a road. Where necessary, we check with the local planning authority (for Hillborough, usually Canterbury City council).

Will you work on another installer’s system?

Yes. We work on systems fitted by other installers as well as our own, on all the main brands. Send us the make and model, and any records you have.

Are you F-Gas certified?

AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work and MCS certified for heat pumps. We’re members of Checkatrade too.

Do I need to service the system to keep the warranty?

Each manufacturer decides. If servicing is in the terms, missing one could affect a claim and we will tell you what your brand asks for.

How quickly will you reply?

The same working day. Then we agree a date that works for you, with a fixed price before work starts.

How long will the installation take?

It takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access. The survey tells us how long your installation will need so there are no surprises.

Pricing air conditioning in Hillborough

Every job gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:

  • Whether it’s a simple split or a larger system
  • The condition of any existing system

To help us quote quickly, send us:

  • The outdoor side of the property, including any roof or flat area

What you can do yourself, and what needs us

Refrigerant is off limits for anyone without the right qualifications. Under the F-gas rules, engineers need their own qualifications and the company must be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.

Some faults have simple causes you can check first: is the system in the right mode, is the set temperature sensible, are the remote’s batteries working and has the breaker tripped. If a breaker trips again after you reset it, leave it off and phone us on 07833 053749 or email us.

Leave it or put it right?

Refrigerant rules have changed what new systems use. Since 2025, new single split systems with less than 3 kg of refrigerant cannot use F gases with a GWP above 750, so new splits use refrigerants such as R32, with a GWP of 675. R410A, used in many older systems, has a GWP of 2088. Getting the date in early helps for a job in a place like Hillborough.

Typical ranges are on our prices page, but your price depends on the job in front of us. For a fixed-price quote, give us a ring on 07833 053749 or email us, and we will explain what it covers.

What happens on the day

If the system has to be off for part of the visit, we tell you before any work starts so it does not catch you out. For businesses, we can usually work room by room or zone by zone. The work takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer. Visits to a place like Hillborough are planned ahead, so we arrive with what the job needs.

  1. We survey the rooms and the outside of the property, or work from pictures and details for simple jobs.
  2. You receive one fixed figure covering the kit, the fitting and the positions we agreed.
  3. The indoor unit is fixed in place, the outside unit positioned, and the connecting runs put in tidily.
  4. The electrical supply is connected, and the refrigerant circuit is pressure tested and evacuated.
  5. The system is commissioned and checked in every mode, and we hand over the controls, F-Gas records and warranty information.

How to prepare

  • Keep pets out of the rooms we are working in
  • Give us access to the outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits
  • Make sure we can reach the consumer unit or fuse board
