Air conditioning in Ryarsh

How the job changes from property to property

Wall-mounted split systems

Bedrooms, offices and living spaces are where wall-mounted units are most often fitted. The unit goes where it spreads the air well and the filters are easy to reach, and away from where the air would blow straight onto people.

Ceiling cassettes

Cassettes need space above the ceiling and a route for the condensate, with a condensate pump where the drain can’t fall naturally. The survey confirms the void and the drain route.

How we handle air conditioning in Ryarsh

Most air conditioning needs its own electrical supply from the consumer unit. Adding a new circuit is notifiable building work under Part P unless it’s done by a registered competent person, and our NICEIC approval means we install and certify it ourselves. Modern air conditioning heats as well as cools: in heating mode they work as an air-to-air heat pump, so a system bought for summer earns its keep in winter too.

Space outside is rarely the problem in a place like Ryarsh. More often it’s the walls, the electrics and the length of the pipe run that need thinking about.

Some manufacturers make regular servicing by a qualified engineer a condition of their warranty. If that applies to your system, booking the service on time keeps the record straight, and every service is written up.

Questions from Ryarsh

Will air conditioning in Ryarsh need planning permission?

It comes down to the building and the spot chosen for the outdoor unit. The Ryarsh Village Conservation Area is close to the centre of Ryarsh. Put simply: reversible systems on houses can be permitted development, cooling-only ones can’t, listed buildings need consent, and conservation areas limit outdoor units facing a road. When your property needs a decision, we contact Tonbridge and Malling council, which is usually the planning authority for Ryarsh.

Is Ryarsh in your area for air conditioning?

We do: Ryarsh falls inside our working area. Tell us a little about the job and we’ll take it from there.

Will you work on another installer’s system?

Yes. We look at it first and tell you what we find, including anything about the original installation that needs putting right. You get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.

How do you keep the place clean during the work?

We put dust sheets over floors and furniture near the work first, and the area is kept tidy throughout. Before we leave, we clear up and run through the work with you.

Do you offer emergency call-outs?

Yes. If something urgent happens, like water coming from a unit or a critical room overheating, call our 24/7 line and we will tell you what to do first.

How much does air conditioning installation cost?

A single-room split system is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. Two rooms on a multi-split are typically £2,800–£4,500 + VAT, and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT, including supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation. You get a fixed price before any work starts.

Can I fit air conditioning or a heat pump myself?

The refrigerant side has to be done by a qualified engineer working for an F-Gas certified company. That’s the law, not just our preference, and it also matters for the manufacturer’s warranty. We’re happy to quote for the full job, supply to commissioning.

How we price air conditioning

Our prices page gives typical ranges, but every job is priced on its own. What we look at:

  • The condition of any existing system
  • Whether we need access equipment for high-level work
  • Which make and model is being fitted or worked on

Every job is different, so each one gets its own fixed-price quote. The system, the access, the pipe routes and the parts involved all make a difference.

Asking for a quote

A few details help us quote accurately. When you get in touch, it helps to send:

  • The make and model of the system, from the label
  • The paperwork from the last service, if you have it
  • The address and the type of property

Want a quote for air conditioning? Please ring us on 07833 053749 or use the quote form with a few details about the property. We’ll explain what we’d recommend and why, then send a fixed-price quote before anything is booked.

How it works

If the system has to be off for part of the visit, we tell you before any work starts so it does not catch you out. In a business, work can often be done one area at a time. The work takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer. If a lane or gateway near Ryarsh is tight for a van, let us know and we’ll plan for it.

  1. First the diagnosis: a survey of the rooms, the walls, the outside and the electrics.
  2. Next, a recommendation for each room and a fixed price.
  3. Then the work: units up, pipes and drain run, and a new circuit where needed.
  4. Checks: a pressure test for leaks, then a vacuum to clear moisture.
  5. The sign-off: commissioning, a walk through the controls, and the F-Gas records and warranty details.

Before we arrive

  • Plan for pets to be kept clear during the visit
  • Have the make and model of any existing unit to hand
  • Tell us about any building rules, permits or sign-in

Advice

Why deal with it now?

Refrigerant rules have changed what new systems use. Since 2025, new single split systems with less than 3 kg of refrigerant cannot use F gases with a GWP above 750, so new splits use refrigerants such as R32, with a GWP of 675. R410A, used in many older systems, has a GWP of 2088. A dirty or faulty system works harder and costs more to run.

Homes, offices, shops and public buildings are all priced the same way: the equipment, the access, the work involved and the time it takes. Ask for a fixed-price quote and we’ll go through it with you.

Air conditioning around Ryarsh

Valuation Office Agency council tax records show about 31% of homes in the Ryarsh area were built in 2000 or later, and the 2021 Census found about 65% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Newer homes are often easier to fit, with cavity walls and space in the loft for pipework. A side passage or back wall normally gives the outdoor unit a home, and more than one bedroom can be cooled through a multi-split.

Homes near Church of St Martin are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it. Starkey Castle (roughly 4.6 miles north-east) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on.
