Air conditioning in Hever
We install leading brands, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. The survey ends with a recommendation and the reasons for it, along with the manufacturer’s warranty terms on your quote. Modern air conditioning heats as well as cools: in heating mode they work as an air-to-air heat pump, so a system bought for summer earns its keep in winter too.
A single room takes a day in most homes, with multi-room systems taking longer depending on pipe routes, and we leave the room clean and the controls explained.
In a village like Hever, many homes are older, and some are listed. We check that first, because permitted development doesn’t apply within the grounds of a listed building.
Aftercare is simple, and most of it is in the manual: clear space around the outdoor unit, the cleaning the manual describes and a service at the recommended interval. It also keeps you on the right side of any warranty terms that ask for servicing.

How the visit works
Protection comes first: sheets over the floor and any furniture nearby, and we ask before moving anything. After that, anything electrical is made safe and we start. It takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access, and we clear up before we go. We agree a date with you and plan the visit to Hever so we arrive with what’s needed.
- We survey the property, or work from your pictures for a simple job.
- The system is sized, positions are agreed and the price is fixed.
- On the day, dust sheets go down and the indoor and outdoor units are fitted.
- Pipework, cable and drain are run, the circuit is connected and the pipework is pressure tested and evacuated.
- It’s switched on, checked and handed over with its records.
Before we arrive
- Let us know if the building has a permit or sign-in process
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, high walls or locked plant areas
- Move furniture away from the wall where we’ll be working

Air conditioning in Hever: the local picture
About 23 miles out from central London, Hever is part of the South East area we work across.
Living close to Church of St Peter? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is. About 0.4 miles north-east stands Hever Castle. Listed homes in any area need consent first, so tell us if yours is one.
Hever is about 6 miles north-east of East Grinstead, in Kent. Wherever you are in the TN8 postcode area, our engineers can take on air conditioning. Hever is one of 922 towns, villages and districts in Kent where we work. The nearest of our city pages is East Grinstead, around 6 miles from Hever.
Not far from Hever, a recent job of ours was on Church Road, Lingfield (RH7), about 5 miles west: installing two LG wall-mounted units: one in the open-plan kitchen-living area and one in the master bedroom. More about it

Well-known places in the area include Haxted Watermill Museum (3.4 miles west) and Hever Castle (within half a mile north-east).
What owners can safely do
Don’t move, re-route or disconnect units or pipework yourself. Moving a unit involves the refrigerant circuit, so it needs an F-Gas qualified engineer, and the electrics need care too. If you need something moved, we can quote for it.
Refrigerant is off limits for anyone without the right qualifications. Under the F-gas rules, engineers need their own qualifications and the company must be certified, and refrigerant lines can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.
Different systems, different jobs
Multi-split systems
With a multi-split, one outdoor unit serves two or more rooms. It’s a neat answer when space outside is limited and several rooms need it, with each room controlled separately.
Wall-mounted split systems
Single-room split systems are typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT, with supply, fitting, commissioning and the F-Gas paperwork included. Where you sit in that range depends on the pipe run, access and electrics.
FAQs for Hever
Do you cover smaller places like Hever?
Yes, and the size of the place makes no difference to how we work. Send a few details and pictures, and we reply the same working day.
Is planning permission needed for air conditioning in Hever?
That depends on the building and where the outdoor unit goes. Central Hever sits inside a conservation area. Since 2025, an air-to-air heat pump on a house can count as permitted development if it meets the conditions and isn’t used only for cooling. Listed buildings still need consent, and in a conservation area a road-facing wall or roof is not allowed under those rules. If there’s any doubt, we ask Sevenoaks council, which is normally the planning authority for Hever.
Why use an F-Gas certified company?
The law says any company working on equipment containing F gas has to be certified, and each engineer needs the right qualifications too. It’s how you know the refrigerant is being handled legally and safely.
Where will you put the outdoor unit?
It can go on a wall bracket, at ground level or on a flat roof, chosen for the pipe route, airflow and access. Noise near bedrooms and boundaries is part of the decision and position can affect planning.
How do you keep the place clean during the work?
Protection goes down first: dust sheets over floors and anything close to the work. Any drilling is agreed with you first, and we clear up the dust and offcuts before we leave.
Can I fit air conditioning or a heat pump myself?
Anything that involves the refrigerant needs an F-Gas qualified engineer from a certified company. That is the law, not just our preference, and it also matters for the manufacturer’s warranty. We can quote for the whole job, from supply to commissioning.
Is air conditioning possible in a flat?
Often, yes, but there are extra steps. Leaseholders normally need consent from the landlord or management company for an outdoor unit and holes through outside walls and the lease will say. Permitted development rules for flats are also tighter than for houses, so we point out anything that may need permission on the survey. This is general information, not legal advice.
A customer’s words
“Excellent service from start to finish. Two wall-mounted units installed in our home. Clean, tidy work: they protected all the floors and left no mess. The systems work brilliantly. Would highly recommend.”
