Leeds air conditioning
Looking for air conditioning in Leeds? We look at the job first, give you a fixed-price quote and do the work at a time that suits you, then sign it off with written records.
- Portable units that are noisy and barely cope
- Rooms under the roof that stay hot into the night
- An office, shop or restaurant that is uncomfortable for staff and customers
Aftercare tips
A little care keeps the system in better shape. We recommend:
- Book an annual service
- Flag any change in how the system sounds or performs
- Keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter
The work area is left tidy: dust sheets lifted, offcuts and packaging cleared, and the holes for the pipework sealed. Pipework outside is covered in trunking or insulated and neatly fixed, so the job looks as tidy as it works.
Book an annual service. A service cleans what you can’t reach and picks up faults before they stop the system, and it keeps any warranty servicing conditions in order.
Air conditioning in Leeds
Air conditioning isn’t only for summer: most modern splits heat too. The Energy Saving Trust makes the same point: an air-to-air heat pump is what many people simply call air conditioning, so a well-chosen unit can be useful in winter as well as summer. For air conditioning in Leeds, one call covers the survey, the fixed-price quote, the installation and the F-Gas paperwork, wherever you are in Kent.
Villages like Leeds often have older houses and cottages, some of them listed. We check that first, because permitted development doesn’t apply within the grounds of a listed building.
Some warranty terms depend on the system being serviced regularly by a qualified engineer. If that applies to your system, booking the service on time keeps the record straight, and every service is written up.

How we price air conditioning
The survey or diagnosis tells us what the work involves. We look at:
- How many units are involved
- What kind of system it is
- The pipe route between the units
Our prices page shows typical ranges, but each job is priced on what it involves. For a fixed-price quote, ring 07833 053749, and we will talk you through it.
Asking for a quote
There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can send:
- Where the property is and what kind of building it is
- The remote or wall controller showing any error
- The outdoor side of the property, including any roof or flat area
Our prices page gives typical ranges, but your quote is based on your job, because every property is different. Once we have looked at the job, from pictures or on a survey, you get a fixed price. To get going, call us on 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form.
Let and managed properties
From a single flat to a whole estate, you get the same standard: a look at the job first, a fixed-price quote, work booked with the occupier and written records afterwards.
Running several properties is easier with one contractor. Our area covers Greater London and the South East, so work at different addresses can be planned together and kept to a regular schedule.
Air conditioning in Leeds: local notes
About 47% of homes in and around Leeds have been built since 2000, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax records, and about 72% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to Census 2021 figures. Newer homes are often easier to fit, with cavity walls and space in the loft for pipework. Houses normally have a side or rear wall with room for the outdoor unit, and a multi-split can serve several rooms from one outdoor unit.
If your home is in one of the older streets near St Nicholas's Church, it’s worth checking whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before an install. With historic houses such as Leeds Castle about 1 mile east, it’s a reminder that older homes nearby may be listed, which changes the planning rules.

How the visit works
There’s very little for you to do on the day. Just let us in and point us to the units, or to where they’ll be fitted, and the rest is down to us. At the end, we tidy up and run through the work with you. Pictures of the space and where the outdoor unit could go let us plan the work in Leeds.
- We start by looking at the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.
- You receive one fixed figure covering the kit, the fitting and the positions we agreed.
- Brackets go on, the units are hung and the refrigerant lines, cable and drain are routed between them.
- Power is wired in, the joints are proved leak-tight under pressure and a vacuum pump draws out air and moisture.
- We commission the system, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty details.
Preparing for the visit
- Plan for pets to be kept clear during the visit
- Have the make and model of any existing unit to hand
- Unlock any gate, garage or side passage we need

Common questions in Leeds
Is planning permission needed for air conditioning in Leeds?
There’s no single answer: the building and the outdoor unit position decide it. Central Leeds is a short walk from the Leeds Upper Street Conservation Area. Since 2025, an air-to-air heat pump on a house can count as permitted development if it meets the conditions and isn’t used only for cooling. Listed buildings still need consent, and in a conservation area a road-facing wall or roof isn’t allowed under those rules. If there’s any doubt, we ask Maidstone council, which is normally the planning authority for Leeds.
Is Leeds in your area for air conditioning?
Yes. We work across London and the South East from our base in East Grinstead, and Leeds is part of that. Tell us a little about the job and we’ll take it from there.
What does F-Gas certified mean?
F-Gas certification shows a company is approved to work on equipment containing fluorinated gases, such as the refrigerant in air conditioning and heat pumps. In Great Britain, that certification is a legal requirement, not an optional extra, and AirCon Doctor is certified.
Do I get paperwork after the visit?
Yes, always. A new system comes with commissioning details, F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty information, while repairs and services get a written note of what was found and done.
Do you offer emergency call-outs?
Yes, any time. If something urgent happens, like water coming from a unit or a critical room overheating, call our 24/7 line and we will agree what happens next.
Which type of air conditioning is best?
There’s no single best type. Wall-mounted splits suit single rooms, multi-splits run several rooms from one outdoor unit, ducted systems hide the unit in the ceiling, and cassettes suit offices and larger rooms. The survey ends with a recommendation and the reasons.
Does air conditioning need its own electrical supply?
In most cases, yes: a dedicated circuit is needed. Under Part P, a new circuit has to be notified unless a registered competent person does it, and we are NICEIC approved, so we can install and certify it.
A customer’s words
“Very professional from the initial survey through to installation. The engineer explained everything clearly and the quote was exactly what we paid. Would not hesitate to recommend AirCon Doctor.”
