Air Conditioning in East Malling
We cover East Malling for air conditioning installation. Diagnosis first, a fixed price and proper paperwork when we finish.
- Not knowing which system, size or brand to choose
- Rooms under the roof that stay hot into the night
- Portable units that are noisy and barely cope
Keeping the system healthy
To keep the system working properly:
- Keep the indoor unit’s filters clean
- Leave space around the outdoor unit
- Keep the F-Gas records, commissioning details and warranty information together
An annual service keeps the system running efficiently, and some manufacturers make servicing a warranty condition. We’ll remind you when it’s due if you’d like.
Have the system serviced once a year. The engineer cleans the coils and drain, checks the electrics and the refrigerant circuit and catches small problems early, and it keeps any warranty servicing conditions in order.
Air conditioning in East Malling, done properly
A new system normally needs a dedicated circuit from the fuse board. Under Part P, a new circuit is notifiable unless a registered competent person does it, and our NICEIC approval means we install and certify it ourselves. Most split systems we fit in East Malling are reversible: in heating mode they work as an air-to-air heat pump, which is why many owners use theirs all year.
Most single-room installs in East Malling are done in a day, while multi-split systems for several rooms can take longer, and we leave the room clean and the controls explained.
In a place like East Malling, the outdoor unit often goes on the ground at the side or rear of the house, where it’s tucked away but still easy to reach for servicing.
AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company and NICEIC approved for electrical work, with MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership. Refrigerant work is done by engineers who hold the F-gas qualifications the law requires.

Different systems, different jobs
Ducted systems
With a ducted system, the indoor unit sits out of sight above the ceiling, and all you see is a discreet grille. It suits rooms where a visible unit wouldn’t work.
Pipework and condensate drains
After the pipework is fitted, the refrigerant circuit is pressure tested and evacuated, which keeps moisture and air out of the circuit. The results go into the commissioning records.
When it’s something else
Before booking, it helps to know what’s not included:
- A ventilation problem rather than a temperature problem
- Heat loss through very poor insulation (a system will heat the room, but insulation is a separate job)
- Damp from leaks or a lack of ventilation
Not sure which it is? You can ring us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk and we’ll tell you honestly.

The process
Anything involving refrigerant is handled by F-Gas qualified engineers, as the law requires, while the electrical side is covered by our NICEIC approval. On the day, both are in the same hands. The work takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access. We load the van from the survey notes so the work in East Malling can be done in one go where possible.
- We start by looking at the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.
- The quote is fixed and shows the equipment, where each unit goes and what’s included.
- On the day, we fit the indoor and outdoor units and run the pipework, cable and condensate drain.
- Once the electrics are connected, the pipework is tested for leaks and put under vacuum before any refrigerant flows.
- Last comes the run-up: every mode checked, the controls explained and the paperwork left with you.
Getting ready for the visit
- Move furniture away from the wall where we will be working
- Tell us about parking and loading
- Mention any roof access, ladders or high-level work

East Malling: your questions answered
Is East Malling within the area you cover?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We’re based in East Grinstead and plan each visit so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.
Do you cover East Malling for air conditioning?
Yes. We work across London and the South East from our base in East Grinstead, and East Malling is part of that. Get in touch with the details and we reply the same working day.
Do you work on all makes?
The main ones, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. For new systems, we recommend a brand and model to suit the job and explain why.
Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?
Whoever operates the equipment, together with the technicians who service it. Systems below 5 tCO2e fall outside the set leak check intervals, while larger ones need checks at least every 12 months, or every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We can tell you which band your system falls into.
Can I use air conditioning to heat a room?
Normally, yes. A heat pump moves heat from the outside air into the room, so it gives out more heat than the electricity it uses. To replace your main heating, there are extra conditions, including for the £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant for air-to-air heat pumps.
Can I have air conditioning in a flat?
It depends on the building and the lease. Balconies, flat roofs and rear walls can all work, subject to consent and the survey looks at every option. This is general information, not legal advice.
Do you have a 24/7 line?
Yes, 24/7. Call the emergency line and tell us the make, the symptoms and any error code, and we will advise on what to do next.

From one of our customers
“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
