Air conditioning in Eastwood

About our air conditioning in Eastwood

We approach an installation much as a doctor approaches a patient: survey first, install second, commission and hand over last. At sign-off, the system is tested in each mode, the controls are explained and the F-Gas records are left with you. Most enquiries from Eastwood start with one hot room: a bedroom, a home office or a loft conversion. A single-room split system is often the answer, from £1,200 + VAT.

Sizing is where cheap installs go wrong: we look at the room’s size, windows, insulation and use before choosing a unit.

In a village like Eastwood, many homes are older, and some are listed. That matters, because a listed home needs consent and permitted development rules don’t apply to it, and the outdoor unit position is chosen to suit the building.

Whatever the visit, you get a written record: commissioning details and F-Gas records for a new system, a note of the fault and the fix for a repair, or a service record. Keep it with the system’s paperwork so it’s to hand next time.

What we do, step by step

Anything involving refrigerant is handled by F-Gas qualified engineers, as the law requires, while the electrical side is covered by our NICEIC approval. So on the day, you don’t need a separate electrician for the electrical side. The work takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer. Photos of the room and the outside of the property help us plan a visit to Eastwood.

  1. First comes a site survey, or photos and measurements for a straightforward job.
  2. Each room is sized and you get a fixed-price quote setting out the equipment and the unit positions.
  3. On the day, we fit the indoor and outdoor units and run the pipework, cable and condensate drain.
  4. Once the electrics are connected, the pipework is tested for leaks and put under vacuum before any refrigerant flows.
  5. Finally, it’s commissioned, tested in each mode and handed over with the F-Gas records.

Getting a price

To help us quote: where the property is and what kind of building it is, pictures of the rooms or units, the brand and model of anything already fitted and anything you’ve noticed, such as an error code or a noise. Once you have those, call 07833 053749 or email us.

What affects the cost of air conditioning

Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:

  • The condition of any existing system
  • The distance and route between the indoor and outdoor units
  • The equipment or parts the job needs

Homes, offices, shops and public buildings are all priced the same way: the equipment, the access, the work involved and the time it takes. Ask for a fixed-price quote and we will explain each part.

What we need to know

Photos and a few facts are often enough to price a simple job. Send what you can of the following:

  • The address and the type of property
  • Where the outdoor unit is, or where you’d like it
  • A short video of any fault, such as a noise or a flashing light

Some jobs can be priced from pictures, while others need a survey. Multi-room systems, commercial buildings and anything with a long or hidden pipe route are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before anything goes ahead.

What air conditioning cannot fix

We’ll always give you a straight diagnosis, so here’s what air conditioning won’t do:

  • Damp from leaks or a lack of ventilation
  • Heat loss through very poor insulation (a system will heat the room, but insulation is a separate job)
  • Gas boiler or central heating faults (we don’t work on gas boilers)

Not sure which it is? You can give us a ring on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier and we will tell you honestly before you book.

FAQs for Eastwood

Do you cover smaller places like Eastwood?

Yes. Eastwood is within the area we cover across London and the South East. Send a few details and pictures, and we reply the same working day.

Is air conditioning in Eastwood permitted development?

There’s no single answer: the building and the outdoor unit position decide it. Historic England lists about 6 buildings and structures within half a mile of the centre of Eastwood. Since 2025, an air-to-air heat pump on a house can count as permitted development if it meets the conditions and is not used only for cooling. Listed buildings still need consent, and in a conservation area a road-facing wall or roof is not allowed under those rules. If there’s any doubt, we ask the local planning authority (for Eastwood, usually Maidstone council).

What size air conditioning unit do I need?

Sizing is done on the survey, room by room. An undersized unit never catches up, and an oversized one cycles and wastes energy and we explain the output we recommend.

How long will the installation take?

Allow about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems. We confirm the time when we quote, so you can plan around it.

Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?

Yes. Systems fitted by other companies are fine, on all the main brands. Send us the make and model, and any records you have.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. Homeowners, landlords, agents and businesses all book us in Eastwood and across Kent. Let us know who the records should go to.

Will you need to do electrical work?

Most systems need their own supply from the consumer unit. Under Part P, a new circuit has to be notified unless a registered competent person does it, and as NICEIC approved contractors we install and certify it as part of the job.

Homes in Eastwood and air conditioning

VOA council tax data show about 32% of homes in and around Eastwood were built in 2000 or later, and the last census (2021) found about 74% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Newer homes are often easier to fit, with cavity walls and space in the loft for pipework. Detached and semi-detached houses typically have space for the outdoor unit, and several rooms can share one on a multi-split.

Most people start with the room that gets hottest, then add more rooms on a multi-split if needed. Leeds Castle (roughly 3.4 miles north-west) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on.

Looking after your system

Simple habits make a real difference. We recommend:

  • File the paperwork with the manual
  • Keep the room closed while it runs
  • Do not cover or box in the outdoor unit

Before we leave, the system is commissioned and tested in each mode. Once it’s running properly, we take you through the controls and settings, so you are confident using it.

Give the outdoor unit room to breathe. Leaves, plants, bins and stored items around it restrict the airflow, and the system has to work harder as a result.

“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
