About our air conditioning in Dean Street
We approach an installation much as a doctor approaches a patient: the survey diagnoses what the rooms need, the installation is the treatment and commissioning is the sign-off. The sign-off includes testing every mode, showing you the controls and handing over the F-Gas records. Whether you call it air con, air conditioning or an air-to-air heat pump, it’s the job we do every week across Kent.
The electrics are part of the job: a dedicated circuit where the unit needs one, certified under NICEIC, so there’s no separate electrician or building control visit to arrange.
Homes around Dean Street usually have room outside for an outdoor unit. More often it’s the walls, the electrics and the length of the pipe run that need thinking about.
Warranty periods vary by brand and by product. For instance, Daikin’s standard warranty on split air conditioning is 2 years, and its longer extensions apply to its air-to-water units only. For any other brand, we explain the manufacturer’s terms on your quote.

The process
Protection comes first: sheets over the floor and any furniture nearby, and we ask before moving anything. After that, anything electrical is made safe and we start. The work on site takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems, and we clear up before we go. If a lane or gateway near Dean Street is tight for a van, let us know and we will plan for it.
- First comes a site survey, or pictures and measurements for a straightforward job.
- The quote is fixed and shows the equipment, where each unit goes and what’s included.
- The units go up and the pipework, cable and condensate drain are run neatly between them.
- Once the electrics are connected, the pipework is tested for leaks and put under vacuum before any refrigerant flows.
- Finally, it’s commissioned, tested in each mode and handed over with the F-Gas records.
Preparing for the visit
- Mention any roof access, ladders or high-level work
- Move furniture away from the wall where we’ll be working
- Tell us about parking and loading

Common questions in Dean Street
Do you cover Dean Street for air conditioning?
Yes. We work across London and the South East from our base in East Grinstead, and Dean Street is part of that. Tell us a little about the job and we will take it from there.
Is Dean Street within the area you cover?
Yes, and the size of the place makes no difference to how we work. A few pictures and the postcode are enough to get things started.
Why does F-Gas certification matter?
Anyone installing, repairing or servicing the refrigerant side must be qualified, and their company certified. Ask to see proof before you book anyone and we’ll gladly show you ours.
Will you work on another installer’s system?
Yes. We look at it first and tell you what we find, including anything about the original installation that needs putting right. Any work is priced before it goes ahead.
Are you F-Gas certified?
F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved and MCS certified for heat pumps, and we are Checkatrade members. Our engineers also hold the individual F-gas qualifications needed to work on refrigerant.
Can landlords and managing agents book you?
Yes. From a single let flat to offices, shops and public buildings, we work the same way: a look first, a fixed-price quote and written records.
How long will the installation take?
Allow anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system. We confirm the time when we quote, so you can plan around it.
System by system
Pipework and condensate drains
Between the units run the refrigerant pipes, the control cable and the condensate drain. We agree the route with you before we drill and kept as tidy as the building allows.
Ceiling cassettes
Cassettes are good at even airflow across a large floor area, and the slim grille sits neatly in the ceiling.
Signs you need air conditioning in Dean Street
Many people try a portable unit first. Portables push their warm air out through a hose in the window, so the window can’t close properly and the noisy part of the unit is in the room. A fixed split system puts the compressor outside.
Keep an eye out for these signs:
- Portable units that are noisy and barely cope
- A loft conversion that’s too warm to use
- Commercial rooms that are too warm for staff
With historic houses such as Stoneacre about 3.5 miles east, it’s a reminder that older homes nearby may be listed, which changes the planning rules.
Before booking anyone
- What’s in the price and what isn’t
- Whether the electrical work is done by a registered contractor, such as NICEIC approved
- Proof of F-Gas company certification
What you can do yourself, and what needs us
On air conditioning, the filters in the indoor unit are typically the one part owners can clean, if the manual says so. They come out, get a gentle clean and go back only when they’re dry. On a heat pump, the equivalent is keeping the outdoor unit clear and checking the controls.
Owner care supports servicing; it doesn’t replace it. Clean filters and a clear outdoor unit help the system run as it should, but the inside of the units, the refrigerant and the electrics still need a qualified engineer.
