Air Conditioning in Surrey

Air conditioning in Surrey: how it works

The best installations are planned before a single hole is drilled. We look at each room’s size, glazing, orientation and use, then agree where the indoor and outdoor units go and how the pipework, cable and condensate drain will run before you get a fixed-price quote. We’re often asked to deal with a portable unit with a hose out of the window and an ageing air conditioning system near the end of its life, on ceiling cassettes, air-to-air heat pumps and VRF systems.

Refrigerant work is done by qualified engineers working for an F-Gas certified company, and electrical work is done by us as NICEIC approved contractors. On the day, both are in the same hands. The work takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems.

  1. We start by looking at the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.
  2. You receive one fixed figure covering the kit, the fitting and the positions we agreed.
  3. The indoor unit is fixed in place, the outside unit positioned, and the connecting runs put in tidily.
  4. Once the electrics are connected, the pipework is tested for leaks and put under vacuum before any refrigerant flows.
  5. We commission the system, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty details.

How we quote

Leaving a fault or an overdue service rarely makes the work cheaper. Small problems, from blocked filters to slow leaks, tend to get worse, and a system working harder than it should costs more to run. If you are not sure what’s needed, ring us on 07833 053749 or drop us a line for straight advice and a fixed price.

Why book with us

  • NICEIC approved for electrical work
  • Diagnosis first, then a fixed price
  • F-Gas certified company
  • MCS certified heat pump installers

Ask for a quote

To help us quote: where the property is and what kind of building it is, photos of the rooms or units, the make and model of any existing system and anything you’ve noticed, such as an error code or a noise. Once you have those, ring us on 07833 053749.

Around Guildford

We fit and service air conditioning in homes and premises around Surrey Maths School, Sandfield Primary School and Guildford High School. Other local landmarks include Church of St John the Evangelist (under half a mile east), Stoke Park (within half a mile east) and The King's Head pub (within half a mile south-east). The closest station to Guildford is London Road (Guildford) station, roughly 0.6 miles south-east of the centre. Well-known places in the area include Guildford Castle (0.9 miles south) and Guildford House (0.8 miles south). Green spaces nearby include Silent Pool and Pewley Hill.

Where we install in Surrey

From Guildford, Woking and Camberley outwards, Surrey has every kind of home. Each install starts with a survey of the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go, then a fixed-price quote.

Refrigerant work is done by F-gas qualified engineers for a certified company, and the electrics come under our NICEIC approval, in Surrey as everywhere else.

Guildford: Living close to Church of St John the Evangelist? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is. Guildford Castle, about 0.9 miles south, is one of the historic houses nearby, and if your own home is listed, consent comes before any air conditioning is fixed to it.

Managing agents and facilities teams in Surrey

We regularly work with managing agents. Send the address, what’s needed and how access works and we’ll come back with a fixed-price quote.

Landlords, letting agents and managing agents book us, not only the people who live or work in the property. Let us know who will give us access and who the records should go to and we’ll copy in whoever needs it.

Before you call an engineer

Before you call us about a fault, a few checks can save a visit: is the system in the right mode, is the set temperature sensible, are the remote’s batteries working and has the breaker tripped. If the breaker trips a second time, leave it off and call us on 07833 053749.

Write down what you notice: error codes, noises, drips, smells or a drop in performance. It makes our diagnosis quicker, and a photo of the display helps even more.

Why deal with it now?

Putting up with another summer of portable units and fans rarely makes sense. A fixed system removes the heat to the outside, runs more quietly in the room and can normally heat as well, so it earns its keep all year.

Comparing quotes

  • How VAT is shown, and which rate applies
  • Whether anyone has checked the property or the system first
  • Which brand and model they’re proposing, and why
  • Whether a new circuit is included and who certifies it

Different systems, different jobs

Wall-mounted split systems

For one room, a wall-mounted split is often the simplest answer. One unit inside, one outside, connected by pipework, a cable and a drain, routed as agreed on the survey.

Electrical supply

A dedicated circuit is normally needed. As NICEIC approved contractors, we install it and issue the certificate and that covers the Part P side.

Surrey questions

Will I get records for the system?

Yes, on every job. New installations come with commissioning details, F-Gas records and warranty information, and repairs and services get a record of the work.

Can I have air conditioning in a flat?

In many cases, but permissions come first. You’ll typically need the landlord’s or management company’s consent for the outdoor unit and the pipe route, so check the lease. Permitted development rules for flats are also tighter than for houses, and we flag anything that may need permission. This is general information, not legal advice.

How much does air conditioning installation cost?

Single-room systems start from £1,200 + VAT and are typically up to £2,200 + VAT. The price includes supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation and is fixed after a survey or from pictures.

What size air conditioning unit do I need?

Sizing is done on the survey, room by room. An undersized unit never catches up, and an oversized one cycles and wastes energy and we explain the output we recommend.

Which brands do you work with?

The main ones, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. For new systems, we recommend a brand and model to suit the job and explain why.

What does F-Gas certified mean?

For refrigerant work, both the engineer and the company need the right F-gas credentials. It’s worth checking before you book and we’ll gladly show you ours.

Do you look at the job first?

Yes, always. We diagnose before we treat: the survey tells us what the job needs and how to do it and the fixed price is built on it.
