About our air conditioning in Watchmoor
Across Watchmoor, every installation follows the same steps: a site survey, or photos for simple jobs, then a fixed-price quote, the installation, commissioning and F-Gas records. You know the price before work begins and the paperwork is in your hands when we finish. Most enquiries from Watchmoor start with one hot room: a bedroom, a home office or a loft conversion. A single-room split system is often the answer, from £1,200 + VAT.
In a smaller place like Watchmoor, most installs are in houses and cottages, often with gardens, which normally leaves room for an outdoor unit. The bigger questions are the wall construction and the route back to the consumer unit.
Aftercare is simple, and most of it is in the manual: keep the outdoor unit clear, follow the manufacturer’s guidance on cleaning and book a service at the interval they recommend. It also keeps you on the right side of any warranty terms that ask for servicing.

What affects the cost of air conditioning
The price is fixed before any work begins. It’s based on:
- The number of rooms, units or zones
- The equipment or parts the job needs
- The type of system, from a single split to a larger system
Leaving a fault or an overdue service rarely makes the work cheaper. Small problems, from blocked filters to slow leaks, tend to get worse, and a system working harder than it should costs more to run. If you’re unsure, phone us on 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form for straight advice and a fixed price.
Before you get in touch
Simple jobs can often be priced from pictures and some basics. Send what you can of the following:
- Where the outdoor unit is, or where you’d like it
- The postcode and whether it’s a home, flat or business
- A few pictures of the room and the wall the unit is on, or will go on
For a fixed-price quote, ring us on 07833 053749 or send an email with the address and a few details about the rooms or units involved. A few photos make it quicker. We reply to enquiries the same working day.
Managing agents and facilities teams in Watchmoor
We regularly work with managing agents. Tell us the property, the work and the access arrangements, and we will send a fixed-price quote.
Whether it’s one property or many, you get the same standard: a look at the job first, a fixed-price quote, work booked with the occupier and written records afterwards.
Keeping the system healthy
So the system stays in good health:
- Leave space around the outdoor unit
- Wash or vacuum the filters as the manual describes
- Keep the F-Gas records, commissioning details and warranty information together
We show you how to take the filters out and clean them. Clean them every few weeks when the system is in heavy use, or as the manual recommends, and keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves and clutter.
Have the system serviced once a year. The engineer cleans the coils and drain, checks the electrics and the refrigerant circuit and catches small problems early, and it keeps any warranty servicing conditions in order.
How the visit works
Where something has to be switched off during the work, we agree it with you first so it does not catch you out. For businesses, we can usually work room by room or zone by zone. The work takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system. Photos of the room and the outside wall help us plan a job near Watchmoor.
- First the diagnosis: a survey of the rooms, the walls, the outside and the electrics.
- Then the prescription: the right system and size for each room, on a fixed-price quote.
- Then the work: units up, pipes and drain run, and a new circuit where necessary.
- Before it runs, the pipework is proved tight and put under vacuum.
- Finally, the clean bill of health: commissioning, the controls explained and your paperwork handed over.
Getting ready for the visit
- Clear a path to the units and the space around them
- Tell us about any building rules, permits or sign-in
- Find the manual or the paperwork for the system, if you have it
Ask for a quote
Every quote starts with a look at the job, from a site survey or, where the job is straightforward, from pictures and measurements. Then you get a fixed price before any work starts.

Watchmoor questions
Is planning permission needed for air conditioning in Watchmoor?
It comes down to the building and the spot chosen for the outdoor unit. Historic England lists about 1 buildings and structures within half a mile of the centre of Watchmoor. An air-to-air system used for heating as well as cooling can be permitted development on a house if it meets the conditions, but a cooling-only unit is not covered, listed buildings need consent and conservation areas restrict outdoor units facing a road. Where needed, we check with Rushmoor council, which is normally the planning authority for Watchmoor.
Is Watchmoor in your area for air conditioning?
We do: Watchmoor falls inside our working area. Tell us a little about the job and we’ll take it from there.
Can you set up regular servicing?
Yes. We offer maintenance contracts, set at the interval the system and the manufacturer’s terms need. Each visit is written up, with F-Gas records where refrigerant work is involved.
Where does the outdoor unit go?
The position is agreed on the survey, not on the day. It must have clear airflow and space for servicing, and a position facing a road can bring extra planning considerations. We explain the options and any permissions to check.
Do I need a new electrical circuit?
Most systems need their own supply from the consumer unit. Under Part P, a new circuit has to be notified unless a registered competent person does it, and as NICEIC approved contractors we install and certify it as part of the job.
How long will the installation take?
It takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer. The survey tells us how long your installation will need, so you can plan around it.
Can air conditioning heat my home as well?
Most of the time, yes: modern splits are normally heat pumps, so they heat as well as cool. The Energy Saving Trust points out that an air-to-air heat pump is often just called air conditioning. We confirm the heating function of the model we quote.
What a customer said
“Very professional from the initial survey through to installation. The engineer explained everything clearly and the quote was exactly what we paid. Would not hesitate to recommend AirCon Doctor.”
