Air conditioning in KT13: how it works
Thinking about air conditioning but not sure where to start? Send a few photos of the rooms and the outside walls when you call us on 07833 053749 or drop us a line, and you’ll hear back from us the same working day to arrange a survey or a quote. We’re often asked to deal with an old system that needs replacing and bedrooms and offices that overheat in summer, on multi-split systems, VRF systems and ducted systems.
If the system has to be off for part of the visit, we tell you before we start, so you can plan around it. In a business, work can often be done one area at a time. On site, it takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access.
- Diagnosis comes first, with a survey of the rooms, outside space and fuse board.
- Next, a recommendation for each room and a fixed price.
- Then the work: units up, pipes and drain run, and a new circuit where necessary.
- Checks: a pressure test for leaks, then a vacuum to clear moisture.
- The sign-off: commissioning, a walk through the controls, and the F-Gas records and warranty details.
What you will pay
The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why every job is looked at first, and why the quote is fixed before any work starts.

Getting a price
Here’s what helps us quote: where the property is and what kind of building it is, a few pictures, the make and model of any existing system and anything you’ve noticed, such as an error code or a noise. Once you have those, phone 07833 053749 or use the quote form.
Around Weybridge
Locally, jobs take us to houses, flats and workplaces close to St George's College Weybridge, Woburn Park and The Grotto pub and the streets around them. You’ll also find United Reform Church (within half a mile south), Heathside School (0.9 miles south-west) and St James CofE Primary School (less than half a mile north). The closest station to Weybridge is Weybridge station, about 0.9 miles south-west of the centre. A little further out are Elmbridge Museum (3.8 miles east) and No. 2 New Zealand General Hospital (1.4 miles north-east). The countryside around Weybridge includes St Ann's Hill and Kempton Park Reservoirs.
Air conditioning across KT13
From Walton-on-Thames, Weybridge and St George's Hill outwards, KT13 has every kind of home. Each install starts with a survey of the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go, then a fixed-price quote.
Message us from anywhere in KT13 and you’ll hear back the same working day. Breakdowns can go to the 24/7 line instead.
Weybridge: With historic houses such as Byfleet Manor about 2.9 miles south, it’s a reminder that older homes nearby may be listed, which changes the planning rules. If you work from home near Weybridge station, a home office that overheats is one of the easiest rooms to cool.
When something else is needed
To be straight with you, some problems need a different answer:
- A room that can’t take an outdoor unit or pipe route without the landlord’s, management company’s or council’s consent (that consent comes first)
- Gas boiler or central heating faults (we do not work on gas boilers)
- Building damp that has a structural cause
Keeping the system healthy
So the system stays in good health:
- Never run the system with the filters out
- Keep the F-Gas records, commissioning details and warranty information together
- Keep to the service interval the manufacturer recommends
- Report drips, noises or error codes straight away
An annual service keeps the system running efficiently, and some manufacturers make regular servicing a condition of their warranty. We’ll remind you when it’s due, so it doesn’t get forgotten.
Give the outdoor unit room to breathe. Anything piled against it, from leaves to garden furniture, reduces the airflow, which makes the whole system less efficient.
What you can do yourself, and what needs us
Leave the units and pipework where they are. Disconnecting a system means dealing with refrigerant, which only a qualified engineer can do, and the electrics need care too. Ask us to quote for a move instead.
There are a few things you can safely do yourself: keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter, check the settings and the remote, and follow the cleaning the manual describes. Anything inside the units, the electrics and the refrigerant is engineer’s work.
Why it fails
Computers, screens, lighting and people all give off heat. A home office with a couple of screens, or a meeting room with a few people in it, warms up quickly, even on a mild day.
Look out for these signs:
- Uncertainty over the right type and size of system
- A study or office that overheats during the day
- Fans and portables that do not keep up
- An office, shop or restaurant that’s uncomfortable for staff and customers
Common questions in KT13
Do you look at the job first?
Yes. For simple jobs, pictures and a few details can be enough, while larger systems and faults that need testing are seen on site.
Do I get paperwork after the visit?
Yes. It’s the record a manufacturer or the next engineer will ask to see: a dated note of the work, with refrigerant details where they apply.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. From a single let flat to offices, shops and public buildings, the approach is the same: survey or diagnosis, a fixed price and proper paperwork.
What size air conditioning unit do I need?
Floor area is only part of it. Windows, the direction the room faces, the roof above and the people and equipment in it all count, and we take them all into account on the survey.
How long does air conditioning installation take?
It takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer. We confirm the time when we quote so there are no surprises.
How much is air conditioning for one room?
From £1,200 + VAT for a single-room split, with a typical range of £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. The price includes supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation and is fixed after a survey or from photos.
Can I do the refrigerant work myself?
No, not the refrigerant side. The F-gas rules require certified companies and qualified engineers for it, and a new electrical circuit is notifiable building work unless a registered competent person does it.
