How air conditioning works in GU19
Not sure what you need, or where it would go? Just ring 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk with photos of the rooms and the outside of the property, and you will hear back from us the same working day about a survey or a fixed-price quote. The work covers multi-split systems, ducted systems and air-to-air heat pumps, and people most often call us about a loft room or top floor that bakes in summer and uncertainty over the right type and size of system.
Each visit runs to the same pattern: check the plan with you, protect the area, carry out the job, test what we’ve done and talk you through it. On site, the work takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system.
- You send pictures, or we visit and survey the rooms and outside.
- Each room is sized and the unit positions agreed, then you get a fixed-price quote.
- We protect the area, then fit both halves of the system.
- We run and connect the pipes, cable and drain, then pressure test and evacuate the circuit.
- The system is commissioned, the controls explained and the F-Gas records handed over.
What affects the price in GU19
The pipe route, the height of the units and how we reach them can all change the price. We take each of them into account, and the price is fixed before any work starts.

Air conditioning around GU19
Our air conditioning work across GU19 takes in places such as Bagshot, Lightwater and Old Dean and the smaller places around them. Every place on our GU19 list (3 in all) is covered.
We are based in East Grinstead and work across London and the South East, GU19 included. Each job starts with a survey and a fixed-price quote.
Bagshot: If you work from home near Bagshot station, a home office that overheats is one of the easiest rooms to cool. Around The Brook Church, a quick check of the listing and conservation maps is part of planning any install.
What air conditioning cannot fix
We’d rather tell you now than sell you work that will not help, so these are the things it will not cover:
- A building fabric problem such as single glazing or no loft insulation
- Building damp that has a structural cause
- A ventilation problem rather than a temperature problem
Owner checks or an engineer?
On air conditioning, the filters in the indoor unit are usually the one part owners can clean where the manufacturer’s manual explains how. With the power off, they lift out, can be vacuumed or rinsed and must be fully dry before they go back. On a heat pump, the equivalent is keeping the outdoor unit clear and checking the controls.
Don’t move, re-route or disconnect units or pipework yourself. Moving a unit involves the refrigerant circuit, so it needs an F-Gas qualified engineer, and the electrical side needs a competent person. If you need something moved, we can quote for it.
Looking after it afterwards
So the system stays in good health:
- Wash or vacuum the filters as the manual describes
- Flag any change in how the system sounds or performs
- Keep the F-Gas records, commissioning details and warranty information together
- Close windows and doors while the system is cooling
We show you how to take the filters out and clean them. Clean them every few weeks when the system is in heavy use, following the manual, and keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves and clutter.
Clean the filters regularly, not just at the service. Clean filters keep the air moving and help the system work as designed, which costs you more to run.
System by system
Outdoor unit positions
Noise is part of the decision: keeping it clear of bedrooms and boundaries where we can and fitted so vibration doesn’t carry into the building. It can also affect whether planning permission is needed.
Offices, shops and commercial rooms
Larger buildings may suit VRF, which runs many indoor units from shared outdoor units. VRF and larger commercial jobs are priced after a survey and the quote sets out the design.
Questions from GU19
Does air conditioning work as heating?
Yes, most modern split systems run as heat pumps, so they heat as well as cool. The Energy Saving Trust points out that an air-to-air heat pump is often just called air conditioning. Some cooling-only models exist, so we confirm it for the model on your quote.
Does servicing affect my warranty?
Each manufacturer decides. Where servicing is a condition, a missed service could give the manufacturer grounds to refuse a claim, so we explain the terms on your quote.
Will I need planning permission?
It can do. The rules differ for heat pumps and cooling-only air conditioning, and for houses, flats, listed buildings and conservation areas. We point out anything that may need permission at the survey and the council makes the decision. This is general information, not legal advice.
How do you keep the place clean during the work?
Protection goes down first: sheets over the floor and nearby furniture. Any drilling is agreed with you first, and we clear up the dust and offcuts before we leave.
Why does F-Gas certification matter?
The law says any company working on equipment containing F gas has to be certified, and the engineers need their own qualifications. It’s how you know the refrigerant is being handled legally and safely.
Are you F-Gas certified?
AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company, with NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps. We’re also Checkatrade members.
What does it cost to install air conditioning?
From £1,200 + VAT for a single-room split, with a typical range of £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. The price includes supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation, and we fix it after a survey or from your photos.
