Air conditioning in GU24: how it works

Good air conditioning starts with the right system in the right place. We look at each room’s size, glazing, orientation and use, then agree where the indoor and outdoor units go and how the pipework, cable and condensate drain will run, all before the price is fixed. We’re often asked to deal with too many options and no clear advice and commercial rooms that are too warm for staff, on wall-mounted split systems, air-to-air heat pumps and multi-split systems.

Where something has to be switched off during the work, we agree it with you first, so you can plan around it. In a business, work can often be done one area at a time. The work takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer.

  1. You send pictures, or we visit and survey the rooms and outside.
  2. Output, positions and price are settled before anything is booked.
  3. Sheets go down first, then the indoor unit and the condenser are mounted.
  4. Pipework, cable and drain are run, the circuit is connected and the pipework is pressure tested and evacuated.
  5. It’s switched on, checked and handed over with its records.

What affects the price in GU24

No two properties are the same, so we price each one individually. The equipment, how we reach it, the route between units and the work needed all play a part.

Air conditioning around GU24

From Woking, West End and Knaphill outwards, GU24 has every kind of home. We survey every property before we quote, then a fixed-price quote.

GU24 is within the area we cover from our base in East Grinstead. Every job starts with a site survey or pictures, then a fixed-price quote.

West End: Bedrooms under the roof and rooms with big sunny windows are typically the first to overheat, so they’re the usual place to start. Living close to Holy Trinity? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is.

Pricing air conditioning in GU24

The price is fixed before any work begins. It takes into account:

  • A single visit or a regular plan
  • Whether it’s a simple split or a larger system
  • How many units are involved
  • Whether the existing supply is suitable

Whatever the property, the quote works the same way: the equipment, the access, the work involved and the time it takes. Call for a fixed-price quote and we will explain each part.

What to send for a quote

Simple jobs can often be priced from photos and some basics. Send what you can of the following:

  • Any previous service or F-Gas records
  • The fuse board and where it is in the property
  • Wide photos of the room or the existing unit
  • The make and model of the system, from the label

Published ranges are a starting point; the quote is built on your property, because no two buildings, rooms or systems are the same. After a look at the job, by pictures or a survey, the price is fixed. To start, ring us on 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form.

Let and managed properties

Bigger systems bring extra duties: a TM44 inspection by an accredited energy assessor is required at least every 5 years for systems over 12 kW. We arrange the inspection, get the system ready and put right anything it picks up.

When the building owner and the occupier are different, the lease or tenancy agreement normally sets out who maintains what. We can quote either party, and the paperwork can go to both.

What air conditioning can’t fix

To be straight with you, there are a few things this work will not fix:

  • Work that needs permission from a landlord or the council
  • Gas boiler or central heating faults (we don’t work on gas boilers)
  • Building damp that has a structural cause

Leave it or put it right?

Putting up with another summer of portable units and fans rarely makes sense. A fixed system removes the heat to the outside, runs more quietly in the room and can typically heat as well, so it earns its keep all year.

Comparing quotes

  • Whether they hold F-Gas company certification, not just individual qualifications
  • Whether the electrical work is done by a registered contractor, such as NICEIC approved
  • Why the equipment they’re quoting suits the job
  • What the manufacturer’s warranty covers and for how long

Your questions about air conditioning in GU24

Is the equipment covered by a warranty?

Warranty comes from the manufacturer and depends on the brand and product. For instance, Daikin’s standard warranty on split air conditioning is 2 years and we explain the terms for your brand on the quote.

Do I need planning permission?

Not always. On a house, air-to-water heat pumps and, since 2025, air-to-air systems that heat as well as cool can be permitted development if they meet the conditions. Cooling-only units, listed buildings, flats and road-facing spots in conservation areas are where it usually comes up, and we tell you at the survey. This is general information, not legal advice.

Should I choose wall-mounted, ducted or cassette?

The right one depends on how many rooms you want to cool, how much space there is outside and how visible you want the indoor units to be. Ducted systems need a ceiling void or loft, and cassettes need a suspended ceiling and the survey confirms what’s possible.

How soon will you get back to me?

The same working day. Then we agree a date that works for you, and you get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.

Can you set up regular servicing?

Yes. Send details of the systems and how they’re used and we will propose a schedule and quote for it. Leak checks required by the F-gas rules can be built in for larger systems.

Do I need to service the system to keep the warranty?

It can, for some brands. Send us the make and model and we’ll tell you what the manufacturer expects, and book the service at the interval they recommend.

How much is air conditioning for one room?

A single-room split system is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. Two rooms on a multi-split are typically £2,800–£4,500 + VAT, and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT, including supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation. You get a fixed price before any work starts.
