Our air conditioning service in KT20
Most modern split systems run as heat pumps, so they can heat as well as cool. The Energy Saving Trust recognises that air-to-air heat pumps often go by the name air conditioning, so a well-chosen unit can be useful in winter as well as summer. The work covers ducted systems, air-to-air heat pumps and ceiling cassettes, and common reasons people get in touch are old electric heaters you’d like to replace with something more efficient and an old system that needs replacing.
You don’t need to do much on the day. Someone needs to let us in and show us the units, or where they’re going, and we take it from there. At the end, we tidy up and run through the work with you.
- We start by looking at the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.
- You receive one fixed figure covering the kit, the fitting and the positions we agreed.
- The units go up and the pipework, cable and condensate drain are run neatly between them.
- Once the electrics are connected, the pipework is tested for leaks and put under vacuum before any refrigerant flows.
- We commission the system, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty details.
Pricing in KT20
The cost depends on the system and the number of rooms or units, how easy the units are to reach and what the work involves. We give you a fixed price before any work starts, so there are no surprises.

Where we install in KT20
In KT20, as across England, the same permitted development rules apply: an air-to-air system that heats as well as cools can be permitted development on a house, but cooling-only units, listed buildings and outdoor units facing a road in conservation areas need more care.
Our area stretches from Greater London through Surrey, Kent and Sussex to Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex, and KT20 sits within it. You reach the same people wherever you are in it.
Tadworth: Fitznells Manor, about 3.9 miles north, is one of the historic houses nearby, and if your own home is listed, consent comes before any air conditioning is fixed to it. Older streets near Church of the Good Shepherd may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes.
Looking after your system
How well a system lasts depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:
- Close windows and doors while the system is cooling
- Avoid setting it far colder than you need
- Book an annual service
- Keep the F-Gas records, commissioning details and warranty information together
Commissioning is the last stage: every mode is tested before we go. Once it’s running properly, we take you through the controls and settings so you know how to get the best from it.
Do not ignore small changes. A drip, a noise or a flashing light is often an early sign of a fault, and early repairs are usually simpler.
System by system
Multi-split systems
With a multi-split, one outdoor unit serves two or more rooms. It saves wall space outside and suits homes where several rooms need cooling and each indoor unit has its own controls.
Offices, shops and commercial rooms
Systems over 12 kW of effective rated output bring extra duties for the building, such as a TM44 inspection by an accredited energy assessor at least every 5 years. We can arrange and prepare for it.
When something else is needed
A few issues sit outside what this work can do:
- A room that can’t take an outdoor unit or pipe route without the landlord’s, management company’s or council’s consent (that consent comes first)
- Stuffy rooms that need fresh air rather than cooling
- Gas boiler or central heating faults (we don’t work on gas boilers)
How we price air conditioning
Before we fix a price, we need to know a few things. We look at:
- What state the existing equipment is in
- The size of the job
- Which make and model is being fitted or worked on
- Whether it’s a simple split or a larger system
Typical ranges are on our prices page, but each job is priced on what it involves. For a fixed-price quote, give us a ring on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier, and we will talk you through it.
Asking for a quote
To help us quote quickly, send us:
- The remote or wall controller showing any error
- Wide photos of the room or the existing unit
- The outdoor side of the property, including any roof or flat area
- A photo of the consumer unit with the cover closed
Here’s what helps us quote: where the property is and what kind of building it is, a few photos, the brand and model of anything already fitted and anything you’ve noticed, such as an error code or a noise. Once you have those, give us a ring on 07833 053749 or drop us a line.
FAQs for KT20
Do I need planning permission?
Sometimes. Heat pumps and cooling-only units are treated differently, and so are flats, listed buildings and conservation areas. We point out anything that may need permission at the survey, and the council has the final say. This is general information, not legal advice.
What warranty do I get?
It’s the manufacturer’s warranty, which varies by brand. For example, Daikin’s standard warranty on split air conditioning is 2 years and we explain the terms for your brand on the quote.
Can I do any of the installation myself?
The refrigerant side has to be done by a qualified engineer working for an F-Gas certified company. That’s the law, not just our preference, and it also matters for the manufacturer’s warranty. We can quote for the whole job, from supply to commissioning.
Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?
Responsibility is shared between the operator, usually whoever owns or controls the equipment, and the service technicians. How often depends on the size of the refrigerant charge in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e.
How soon will you get back to me?
The same working day. Then we agree a date that works for you, and you get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.
Do you have a 24/7 line?
Yes, 24/7. When you call, tell us the make, what’s happening and any error code, and we’ll talk you through the next steps.
How long will the installation take?
Allow about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems. The survey tells us how long your installation will need so there are no surprises.
