Air conditioning in KT18

About air conditioning in KT18

We fit wall-mounted splits, multi-split systems, ducted systems and ceiling cassettes, with VRF for larger buildings. Which one suits you depends on the space, the building and how much of the unit you want to see and we talk you through it on the survey. Typical jobs include portable units that are noisy and barely cope and a room that’s unbearable on warm days, on air-to-air heat pumps, multi-split systems and wall-mounted split systems.

We book the visit for a day and time that suit you, and we keep you posted if anything changes. On arrival, the engineer compares the job with the survey, your photos or the details you gave us. If something is different, we talk it through with you before carrying on. After that, it takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access.

  1. We start by looking at the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.
  2. You receive one fixed figure covering the kit, the fitting and the positions we agreed.
  3. Brackets go on, the units are hung and the refrigerant lines, cable and drain are routed between them.
  4. We connect the supply, pressure test the pipework and evacuate it before the refrigerant is released.
  5. The system is commissioned and checked in every mode, and we hand over the controls, F-Gas records and warranty information.

How we quote

No two properties are the same, so each one gets its own fixed-price quote. The system, the access, the pipe routes and the parts involved all play a part.

Why book with us

  • MCS certification for heat pump work
  • We diagnose before we treat
  • Leading brands including Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric and Fujitsu
  • One number for homes and businesses across London and the South East

Every quote starts with a look at the job, from a site survey or, where the job is straightforward, from photos and measurements. After that, we send a fixed price before any work starts.

Air conditioning across KT18: local notes

Planning rules are the same across England, KT18 included: an air-to-air system that heats as well as cools can be permitted development on a house, but cooling-only units, listed buildings and outdoor units facing a road in conservation areas need more care.

KT18 is within the area we cover from our base in East Grinstead. Each job starts with a survey and a fixed-price quote.

Great Burgh: Living close to St Mark? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is. Plenty of people near Tattenham Corner station split the week between the train and a spare room, and that spare room is often the first to get a unit.

What affects the quote in KT18

We quote each job individually. These are the things that affect it:

  • One-off work versus a regular service cycle
  • What state the existing equipment is in
  • What electrical work the job needs
  • The equipment or parts the job needs

Height, access and the distance between the indoor and outdoor units all affect the cost. Each of those is built into the quote, and the price is fixed before work begins.

Before you get in touch

What to send for a quote:

  • The remote or wall controller showing any error
  • The outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits or would go
  • The fuse board and where it is in the property
  • Photos showing the indoor unit and the space around it

For a fixed-price quote, phone us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk and tell us about the property and what you need. Photos help a lot. We reply to enquiries the same working day.

Owner checks or an engineer?

Owner care supports servicing; it doesn’t replace it. Clean filters and a clear outdoor unit help the system run as it should, but the inside of the units, the refrigerant and the electrics still need a qualified engineer.

For air conditioning, cleaning the indoor unit’s filters is the main job owners can do where the manufacturer’s manual explains how. With the power off, they lift out, can be vacuumed or rinsed and must be fully dry before they go back. For a heat pump, the main owner jobs are a clear outdoor unit and sensible control settings.

What the work involves, system by system

Offices, shops and commercial rooms

Bigger systems in buildings come with extra duties, such as a TM44 inspection by an accredited energy assessor at least every 5 years. We can arrange and prepare for it.

Outdoor unit positions

Noise is part of the decision: away from bedroom windows and neighbours’ windows where possible, and on anti-vibration mounts. Position can also affect planning.

Aftercare tips

After the visit, a few habits help:

  • Keep the F-Gas records, commissioning details and warranty information together
  • Keep to the service interval the manufacturer recommends
  • Tell us if the unit starts to leak, rattle or show a code
  • Close windows and doors while the system is cooling

Before we leave, the system is commissioned and tested in each mode. We check it’s running as the manufacturer intends, then show you the controls and the timer, so you are confident using it.

Regular filter cleaning is the simplest thing you can do. Clean filters keep the air moving and help the system work as designed, which costs you more to run.

FAQs for KT18

Do you offer emergency call-outs?

Yes. For anything urgent, such as a system failing in a server room or water leaking from a unit, ring our 24/7 line and we’ll tell you what to do first.

Will I need planning permission?

Sometimes. Heat pumps and cooling-only units are treated differently, and so are flats, listed buildings and conservation areas. We point out anything that may need permission at the survey and the council makes the decision. This is general information, not legal advice.

Does servicing affect my warranty?

Each manufacturer decides. If servicing is in the terms, missing one could affect a claim, so we explain the terms on your quote.

Where will you put the outdoor unit?

It can go on a wall bracket, at ground level or on a flat roof, wherever the pipe route, airflow and servicing access work best. Noise near bedrooms and boundaries is part of the decision, and the position can affect planning.

Why does F-Gas certification matter?

Certification shows a business is approved to work on systems that hold F gas refrigerant. That is not optional: it’s required by law, and AirCon Doctor is certified.

Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?

Responsibility is shared between the operator, normally whoever owns or controls the equipment, and the service technicians. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least yearly for 5 to under 50 tCO2e, and every 6 months for 50 to under 500 tCO2e.

Can landlords and managing agents book you?

Yes. We work for homeowners, landlords, letting and managing agents, and businesses of every size across London and the South East. Tell us who should receive the paperwork.
