Air conditioning installation in Epsom

Any installation we do in Epsom follows the same process as everywhere else we work: a site survey, or pictures for simple jobs, then a fixed-price quote, the installation, commissioning and F-Gas records. You know the price before any work starts and the paperwork is in your hands when we finish. When someone in Epsom asks us for air con, the first questions are normally price and who will fit it. We publish typical prices and do the refrigerant work as an F-Gas certified company.

A single room takes a day in most homes, while multi-split systems for several rooms can take longer, and we leave the room clean and the controls explained.

Around Epsom, older homes and newer ones sit side by side, and the walls decide a lot about the install. Older solid walls need more drilling than modern cavity walls, and a loft or a void can hide a pipe run that would otherwise be on show.

Warranty periods vary by brand and by product. Daikin, for example, gives a standard 2 years on split air conditioning, with longer extensions only on its air-to-water heat pumps. For any other brand, we explain the manufacturer’s terms on your quote.

When to call us in Epsom

Many people try a portable unit first. Portables push their warm air out through a hose in the window, so the window cannot close properly and the noisy part of the unit is in the room. A fixed split system puts the compressor outside.

It’s time to call us if you’re dealing with:

  • Fans and portables that don’t keep up
  • Rooms that get too hot to sleep or work in
  • A study or office that overheats during the day

If you work from home near Epsom station, a home office that overheats is one of the easiest rooms to cool.

FAQs for Epsom

Is planning permission needed for air conditioning in Epsom?

It comes down to the building and the spot chosen for the outdoor unit. There’s a conservation area, the Epsom Town Centre Conservation Area, close to central Epsom. Permitted development only covers heat pumps that are not used solely for cooling, and not within the grounds of a listed building. Conservation areas add limits on outdoor units facing a road. Where necessary, we check with Epsom and Ewell council, which is normally the planning authority for Epsom.

Can you do air conditioning in Epsom?

We do: Epsom falls inside our working area. Get in touch with the details and we reply the same working day.

Do I get paperwork after the visit?

Yes. It’s your proof of what was done: a dated note of the work, with refrigerant details where they apply.

Where will you put the outdoor unit?

The position is agreed on the survey, not on the day. It needs space around it to breathe and room for an engineer to service it, and walls or roofs facing a road can raise planning questions. We explain the options and any permissions to check.

Do you work on all makes?

Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi and others. For new systems, we recommend a brand and model to suit the job and explain why.

Can you set up regular servicing?

Yes. Send details of the systems and how they’re used and we will propose a schedule and quote for it. Leak checks required by the F-gas rules can be built in for larger systems.

Will skipping a service affect the warranty?

That depends on the brand. Where servicing is a condition, a missed service could give the manufacturer grounds to refuse a claim, so we explain the terms on your quote.

When something else is needed

We won’t sell you work that does not address the problem, so these are the things it will not cover:

  • Damp or condensation caused by leaks or poor ventilation in the building (that needs the cause fixing)
  • Draughts and missing insulation
  • A lack of fresh air (most split systems recirculate room air rather than bringing fresh air in, which is a job for ventilation)

If you are not sure, just phone us on 07833 053749 or use the quote form and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

What the work covers

  • VRF systems
  • Multi-split systems
  • Wall-mounted split systems
  • Air-to-air heat pumps
  • Ceiling cassettes
  • Ducted systems

The process

Think of the visit in three stages: diagnose, treat and sign off. First comes a careful look at the system or the space, then the work itself, and finally we test, record and explain. The middle part takes longest, which takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system. Access to the outdoor unit position is the main thing to tell us about in Epsom.

  1. You send pictures, or we visit and survey the rooms and outside.
  2. Each room is sized and the unit positions agreed, then you get a fixed-price quote.
  3. Sheets go down first, then the indoor unit and the condenser are mounted.
  4. We run and connect the pipes, cable and drain, then pressure test and evacuate the circuit.
  5. The system is commissioned, the controls explained and the F-Gas records handed over.

How to prepare

  • Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, high walls or locked plant areas
  • Find the manual or the paperwork for the system, if you have it
  • Arrange for someone to be there to let us in

Getting a quote

Every quote starts with a look at the job, from a site survey or, where the job is straightforward, from pictures and measurements. Then you get a fixed price before any work starts.

Advice

Looking after your system

Systems last better with the right care. We suggest:

  • Refit filters properly after cleaning
  • Tell us if the unit starts to leak, rattle or show a code
  • Do not cover or box in the outdoor unit

Commissioning is the last stage: every mode is tested before we go. Once it’s running properly, we take you through the controls and settings so you know how to get the best from it.

Set it and leave it. Choose the right mode and a comfortable temperature rather than the lowest setting, and close windows and doors while it’s cooling.

What a customer said

“Excellent service from start to finish. Two wall-mounted units installed in our home. Clean, tidy work: they protected all the floors and left no mess. The systems work brilliantly. Would highly recommend.”
