Air conditioning in GU7: how it works

Not sure what you need, or where it would go? Just give us a ring on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier with photos of the rooms and the outside of the property, and we will reply the same working day about a survey or a fixed-price quote. Common call-outs are for old electric heaters you’d like to replace with something more efficient and bedrooms and offices that overheat in summer, on ceiling cassettes, multi-split systems and air-to-air heat pumps.

Our engineers arrive at the time agreed with you and check the plan with you first. Floors and furniture near the work are covered with dust sheets, and the electrics are made safe before any panel comes off. The work itself takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system.

  1. We survey the property, or work from your pictures for a simple job.
  2. Output, positions and price are settled before anything is booked.
  3. On the day, dust sheets go down and the indoor and outdoor units are fitted.
  4. Pipework, cable and drain are run, the circuit is connected and the pipework is pressure tested and evacuated.
  5. We commission, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas and warranty paperwork.

What you will pay

What you pay depends on the type of system and how many units are involved, the access and what the work involves. You get a fixed price before work begins, so you know where you stand.

Getting a quote

Photos are enough for some jobs; others need a visit first. Multi-room systems, commercial buildings and anything with a long or hidden pipe route are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work is booked.

Around Godalming

Locally, jobs take us to houses, flats and workplaces close to St Hilary's School, Moss Lane School and Phillips Memorial Park and the streets around them. Nearby too are St Edmund Church (less than half a mile south-west), The Richmond Arms Public House (less than half a mile west) and Godalming College (0.5 miles south). There’s a railway station in Godalming itself: Godalming station. A little further out are Guildford Castle (3.9 miles north-east) and Godalming Museum (under half a mile north). Not far away are Frith Hill and Farncombe Wood.

Air conditioning around GU7

Our air conditioning work across GU7 takes in places such as Godalming, Farncombe and Aaron's Hill and the smaller places around them. We cover every place we list for GU7, 9 in all.

From London flats to coastal homes and country cottages, London and the South East have every kind of property. Our work is F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved for the electrics and MCS certified for heat pumps.

Godalming: Living close to St Edmund Church? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is. Loseley Park, about 2.2 miles north, is one of the historic houses nearby, and if your own home is listed, consent comes before any air conditioning is fixed to it.

Common problems we fix in GU7

Everything that uses electricity in a room ends up as heat. A home office with a couple of screens, or a meeting room with a few people in it, warms up quickly, even when it isn’t especially hot outside.

These are the situations we see most often:

  • A portable unit with a hose out of the window
  • Uncertainty over the right type and size of system
  • Commercial rooms that are too warm for staff
  • Old electric heaters you’d like to replace with something more efficient

Managing agents and facilities teams in GU7

Keeping records across a portfolio is half the battle. Every visit is written up, plus the F-Gas records where refrigerant is involved, ready for a tenant, a buyer or an inspection.

We also work for facilities teams in offices, schools and public buildings in GU7 and across Surrey. Larger buildings can be done in stages to keep disruption down.

Before you call an engineer

Before you call us about a fault, a few checks can save a visit: check the mode, the set temperature, the remote’s batteries and the breaker. If the breaker trips a second time, leave it off and ring us on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier.

On air conditioning, the filters in the indoor unit are usually the one part owners can clean where the manufacturer’s manual explains how. They come out, get a gentle clean and go back only when they’re dry. On a heat pump, the equivalent is keeping the outdoor unit clear and checking the controls.

What affects the cost of air conditioning

Every job gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:

  • The condition of any existing system
  • Whether the existing supply is suitable
  • Whether it’s a simple split or a larger system
  • The number of rooms, units or zones

The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why every job is looked at first, and the price is agreed before we start.

What we need to know

Simple jobs can often be priced from pictures and some basics. Useful things to send:

  • Your installation or service records
  • Photos showing the indoor unit and the space around it
  • Where the property is and what kind of building it is
  • A short video of any fault, such as a noise or a flashing light

For a fixed-price quote, call 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form with the address and a few details about the rooms or units involved. A few photos make it quicker. We reply to enquiries the same working day.

GU7 questions

Can the outdoor unit go on a roof or at ground level?

Wall brackets, ground level and flat roofs are all options, wherever the pipe route, airflow and servicing access work best. Noise near bedrooms and boundaries is part of the decision, and the position can affect planning.

Will you need to do electrical work?

Most systems need their own supply from the consumer unit. Under Part P, a new circuit has to be notified unless a registered competent person does it, and we’re NICEIC approved, so we can install and certify it.

How do I know what size unit to get?

Sizing is done on the survey, room by room. Too small, and it runs flat out; too big, and it switches on and off and wastes energy, so we explain why we have chosen a particular output.

Will you work on another installer’s system?

Yes. Systems fitted by other companies are fine from all the leading brands. Send us the make and model, and any records you have.

Is planning permission needed for the outdoor unit?

Not always. Permitted development can cover a heat pump on a house, including an air-to-air system that heats as well as cools since 2025, provided the conditions are met. Cooling-only units, listed buildings, flats and road-facing spots in conservation areas are where it usually comes up and the survey picks it up. This is general information, not legal advice.

How much is air conditioning for one room?

For one room, a split system is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. Two rooms on a multi-split are typically £2,800–£4,500 + VAT, and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT, including supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation. The price is fixed before we start.

Why does F-Gas certification matter?

Anyone installing, repairing or servicing the refrigerant side must be qualified, and their company certified. Ask to see proof before you book anyone and we will gladly show you ours.
