Air con installation in KT5

Air conditioning across KT5: what to expect

Wall-mounted, multi-split, ducted and cassette systems are all part of what we install, plus VRF systems for bigger commercial buildings. The right choice depends on the rooms, the building and how visible you want the indoor units to be, and we explain the options on the survey. Common call-outs are for working from home in a room that gets too warm and old electric heaters you’d like to replace with something more efficient, on ducted systems, VRF systems and air-to-air heat pumps.

Every visit follows the same order: agree the plan on site, protect the area, do the work, test what we have done and talk you through it. The visit itself takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer.

  1. We start by looking at the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.
  2. The quote is fixed and shows the equipment, where each unit goes and what’s included.
  3. The units go up and the pipework, cable and condensate drain are run neatly between them.
  4. Power is wired in, the joints are proved leak-tight under pressure and a vacuum pump draws out air and moisture.
  5. We commission the system, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty details.

Pricing in KT5

One room or a whole building, the quote is built the same way: what needs doing, how we get to it and what it needs. The price is fixed before any work starts, and the quote sets out the VAT.

What’s near Tolworth

In Tolworth, that means homes and buildings near Hogsmill LNR, Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Primary School and Shrewsbury House School, among other places. Tolworth’s nearest station is Tolworth station, about 0.5 miles south of the centre. Well-known places in the area include Cockney Museum (2.1 miles south-east) and Bentall Centre (2.2 miles north-west). Green spaces nearby include Southwood Open Space and The Lake.

Air conditioning around KT5

From Surbiton, Tolworth and Surbiton Park outwards, KT5 has every kind of home. Each install starts with a survey of the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go, then a fixed-price quote.

KT5 is part of a working area that runs from Greater London to the Sussex coast and out to Oxfordshire and Essex. You reach the same people wherever you are in it.

Tolworth: Fitznells Manor (roughly 2.5 miles south-east) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on. If you work from home near Tolworth station, a home office that overheats is one of the easiest rooms to cool.

Common problems we fix in KT5

Most overheating comes from heat gained through the day. Sun through large windows, roof lights and glazed doors is the biggest source in many rooms, and once the room has warmed up, it holds on to it into the evening.

What we are most often called about:

  • A loft room or top floor that bakes in summer
  • A home office that warms up with screens and equipment
  • Rooms heated by plug-in heaters
  • A system on old refrigerant that’s due for replacement

Managing agents and facilities teams in KT5

Managing agents often deal with us directly. Send the address, what’s needed and how access works and we will come back with a fixed-price quote.

Larger air conditioning systems in buildings need more than servicing: a TM44 inspection by an accredited energy assessor is required at least every 5 years for systems over 12 kW. We arrange the inspection, get the system ready and put right anything it picks up.

System by system

Offices, shops and commercial rooms

Bigger systems in buildings come with extra duties, including a TM44 inspection by an accredited energy assessor at least every 5 years. We can arrange and prepare for it.

Wall-mounted split systems

Bedrooms, offices and living spaces are where wall-mounted units are most often fitted. The unit goes where it spreads the air well and the filters are easy to reach, and away from where the air would blow straight onto people.

Pricing air conditioning in KT5

The quote reflects the job in front of us. We consider:

  • What electrical work the job needs
  • A single visit or a regular plan
  • Whether we need access equipment for high-level work
  • How far the pipework has to run, and where

Height, access and the distance between the indoor and outdoor units all affect the cost. We take each of them into account, and the price is fixed before we start.

Before you get in touch

You do not need the technical terms. Just send:

  • The fuse board and where it is in the property
  • The remote or wall controller showing any error
  • A close-up of the unit’s label showing the model number
  • Any previous service or F-Gas records

Some jobs can be priced from photos, while others need a survey. Multi-room systems, commercial buildings and anything with a long or hidden pipe route are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before anything goes ahead.

KT5 questions

How long will the installation take?

Allow a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access. We confirm the time when we quote, so you can plan around it.

Do you protect the property while you work?

We start with protection: sheets over the floor and nearby furniture. Any drilling is agreed with you first, and we clear up the dust and offcuts when we finish.

Will skipping a service affect the warranty?

Check the manufacturer’s terms. Some warranty terms require the system to be serviced regularly by a qualified engineer, so check the terms or ask us. Keep every service record either way.

Is there a survey before the work?

Yes, every time. We diagnose before we treat: the survey shows what’s needed, where things go and what access we need, and the quote is based on that.

Which accreditations do you hold?

As the law requires for refrigerant work, we’re an F-Gas certified company. NICEIC approval, MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership sit alongside it.

Which type of system should I choose?

Number of rooms, space outside and how much of the unit you want to see all decide it. Ducted systems need a ceiling void or loft, and cassettes need a suspended ceiling, which we check on the survey.

Will you need to do electrical work?

In most cases, yes: a dedicated circuit is needed. Under Part P, a new circuit has to be notified unless a registered competent person does it, and as NICEIC approved contractors we install and certify it as part of the job.
