How air conditioning works in KT1
Most air conditioning needs its own electrical supply from the consumer unit. Under Part P, a new circuit is notifiable unless a registered competent person does it, and our NICEIC approval means we install and certify it ourselves. The work covers ceiling cassettes, multi-split systems and ducted systems, and the jobs we see most are an ageing air conditioning system near the end of its life and working from home in a room that gets too warm.
Protection comes first: sheets over the floor and any furniture nearby, and we ask before moving anything. After that, anything electrical is made safe and we start. The work on site takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system, and we clear up before we go.
- Diagnosis comes first, with a survey of the rooms, outside space and fuse board.
- Then the prescription: the right system and size for each room, on a fixed-price quote.
- The treatment: units fitted, pipework and drain routed, and the electrics installed.
- Testing: the circuit is pressure tested and evacuated before the refrigerant is released.
- The sign-off: commissioning, a walk through the controls, and the F-Gas records and warranty details.
How we quote
Homes, offices, shops and public buildings are all priced the same way: the equipment, the access, the work involved and the time it takes. Ask for a fixed-price quote and we will explain each part.

Air conditioning around KT1
Across KT1, from Kingston upon Thames, Surbiton and New Malden to the villages, homes range from older terraces and cottages to new estates and flats. Each install starts with a survey of the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go, then a fixed-price quote.
Refrigerant work is done by F-gas qualified engineers for a certified company, and the electrics come under our NICEIC approval, in KT1 as everywhere else.
Hampton Wick: Hampton Court Palace (roughly 1.4 miles south-west) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on. Homes near All Saints Church are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it.
Before you call an engineer
On air conditioning, the filters in the indoor unit are typically the one part owners can clean where the manufacturer’s manual explains how. They come out, get a gentle clean and go back only when they’re dry. On a heat pump, the equivalent is keeping the outdoor unit clear and checking the controls.
Owners can handle the everyday basics: keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter, check the settings and the remote, and follow the cleaning the manual describes. Opening up the units, the electrics and the refrigerant circuit are a job for us.
Managing agents and facilities teams in KT1
Landlords, letting agents and managing agents book us, not only the people who live or work in the property. Let us know who will give us access and who the records should go to, and we will keep everyone informed.
The F-gas rules share responsibility for leak checking between the equipment’s operator and the service technicians. In a let or managed building, it’s worth agreeing who that operator is, and we can work for either side.
How we price air conditioning
We quote each job individually. These are the things that affect it:
- Access, including height, roofs and ladders
- A single visit or a regular plan
- What we find on the survey or diagnosis
- Which make and model is being fitted or worked on
What you pay reflects the actual work. That’s why we look at the job first, from pictures or on a survey, and why the quote is fixed before work begins.
What to send for a quote
When you contact us, it’s useful to have:
- A short video of any fault, such as a noise or a flashing light
- Where the property is and what kind of building it is
- The rating plate or label on any existing unit
- Your consumer unit or fuse board
Getting a quote is straightforward. Call or email with a few details and we will come back to you the same working day. If we need to see the property first, we book a survey at a time that works for you.
Why it fails
Poor sleep is one of the most common reasons homeowners ask about air conditioning. Once a bedroom has soaked up heat during the day, opening a window may not bring the temperature down far enough, especially on a still night.
Most people get in touch after spotting one of these:
- Commercial rooms that are too warm for staff
- A system on old refrigerant that’s due for replacement
- Bedrooms and offices that overheat in summer
- A loft conversion that is too warm to use
KT1 questions
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. Homeowners, landlords, agents and businesses all book us across London and the South East. Let us know who the records should go to.
Do you work on systems someone else installed?
Yes. Systems fitted by other companies are fine from all the leading brands. Tell us the make and model and send any paperwork you have.
Do you have a 24/7 line?
Yes. Our emergency line runs 24/7 for problems that cannot wait for a planned visit. Ring 07833 053749 any time and explain the problem.
How do I know what size unit to get?
Sizing is done on the survey, room by room. An undersized unit never catches up, and an oversized one cycles and wastes energy, so we explain why we have chosen a particular output.
Which accreditations do you hold?
We hold F-Gas company certification, which the law requires for any business working on refrigerant. NICEIC approval, MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership sit alongside it.
Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?
The operator of the equipment, working with qualified engineers. Larger systems need regular checks: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We will work out which band applies to yours.
Which type of system should I choose?
Number of rooms, space outside and how much of the unit you want to see all decide it. Ducted systems need a ceiling void or loft, and cassettes need a suspended ceiling and the survey confirms what’s possible.
