About air conditioning in TW2

Any installation we do in TW2 follows the same process as everywhere else we work: a site survey, or photos for simple jobs, then a fixed-price quote, the installation, commissioning and F-Gas records. You know the price before we start and the paperwork is in your hands when we finish. The work covers ceiling cassettes, ducted systems and VRF systems, and people most often call us about a loft room or top floor that bakes in summer and rooms that get too hot to sleep or work in.

Anything involving refrigerant is handled by F-Gas qualified engineers, as the law requires, while the electrical side is covered by our NICEIC approval. So on the day, you don’t need a separate electrician for the electrical side. The work takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access.

  1. You send pictures, or we visit and survey the rooms and outside.
  2. Each room is sized and the unit positions agreed, then you get a fixed-price quote.
  3. On the day, dust sheets go down and the indoor and outdoor units are fitted.
  4. Connections are made, checked for leaks and pulled down to a vacuum.
  5. We commission, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas and warranty paperwork.

Pricing in TW2

What you pay depends on the type of system and how many units are involved, how easy the units are to reach and the parts and time the job needs. You get a fixed price before any work starts, so you know where you stand.

Ask for a quote

The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: the inside and outside of the property where the work is, plus the rating plate of any unit already there. Add the address and what you’d like done, and simple jobs can often be priced without a visit.

Typical jobs here are in properties near Duke of Cambridge pub, Crane Park and The Richmond upon Thames School. Where we install in TW2

Across TW2, from Twickenham, Hounslow and Teddington to the villages, homes range from older terraces and cottages to new estates and flats. We survey every property before we quote, then a fixed-price quote.

We reply to enquiries from TW2 the same working day, and our emergency line is open 24/7.

Whitton: Around All Saints Church, a quick check of the listing and conservation maps is part of planning any install. Plenty of people near Whitton station split the week between the train and a spare room, and that spare room is often the first to get a unit.

What the work involves, system by system

Pipework and condensate drains

Between the units run the refrigerant pipes, the control cable and the condensate drain. The route is agreed before any drilling, and keep it as short and neat as the building allows.

Outdoor unit positions

The outdoor unit can go on a wall bracket, on the ground or on a flat roof, whatever suits the building and the route. It needs space around it to breathe and for an engineer to work on it.

What you can do yourself, and what needs us

Never try to top up, release or handle refrigerant yourself. Under the F-gas rules, engineers need their own qualifications and the company must be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.

For air conditioning, cleaning the indoor unit’s filters is the main job owners can do, if the manual says so. With the power off, they lift out, can be vacuumed or rinsed and must be fully dry before they go back. On a heat pump, the equivalent is keeping the outdoor unit clear and checking the controls.

How we price air conditioning

The diagnosis comes before the price. The main factors are:

  • What state the existing equipment is in
  • Which make and model is being fitted or worked on
  • A single visit or a regular plan
  • The size of the job

Our prices page shows typical ranges, but your price depends on the job in front of us. For a fixed-price quote, call 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form, and we’ll talk you through it.

Before you get in touch

Before you ask for a quote, gather:

  • A few pictures of the room and the wall the unit is on, or will go on
  • The outdoor side of the property, including any roof or flat area
  • The remote or wall controller showing any error
  • The address and the type of property

Some jobs can be priced from photos, while others need a survey. Multi-room systems, commercial buildings and anything with a long or hidden pipe route are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before anything goes ahead.

Why it fails

Rooms in the roof are often the hardest to keep cool. Heat comes in through the roof and rises from the rest of the building, so a bedroom or office under the roof can stay warm well into the night.

Look out for these signs:

  • An old system that needs replacing
  • A home office that warms up with screens and equipment
  • Rooms that get too hot to sleep or work in
  • Not knowing which system, size or brand to choose

Your questions about air conditioning in TW2

Can I do any of the installation myself?

Anything that involves the refrigerant needs an F-Gas qualified engineer from a certified company. That is a legal requirement, and it also matters for the manufacturer’s warranty. We are happy to quote for the full job, supply to commissioning.

How long does air conditioning installation take?

Most single-room systems take a day. Multi-split, ducted and cassette systems take longer, and we tell you how long on the quote.

What warranty do I get?

The manufacturer provides it, on its own terms. Some terms depend on regular servicing by a qualified engineer, so keep your service records.

Can air conditioning heat my home as well?

Normally, yes. A heat pump moves heat from the outside air into the room, so it gives out more heat than the electricity it uses. To replace your main heating, there are extra conditions, including for the £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant for air-to-air heat pumps.

Is TW2 in your area?

Yes. We work in TW2 and across Greater London, within the London and South East area we cover. For a fixed-price quote, ring us on 07833 053749 or email us.

Do I need a new electrical circuit?

Most systems need their own supply from the consumer unit. Adding a new circuit is notifiable building work under Part P unless it’s done by a registered competent person, and we are NICEIC approved, so we can install and certify it.

Do I need to service the system to keep the warranty?

That depends on the brand. If servicing is in the terms, missing one could affect a claim and we will tell you what your brand asks for.
